OK- I have had a Cat 242 here on the farm for a few years now. It is what I guess is a "regular" wheelbase machine, rated as 2,000# R.O.C. Now that I am looking for a new-to-me machine, I've been looking at the 262 series. Rated at 2500+ pounds, with about the same wheelbase (so my OTTs would work). But I've found several of the 272s that have a bit more rating, also have about 6" more wheelbase, and about 6" more width, for about the same money. The 242/262 generally carry a 72" bucket, where the 272 are @ 78". Now- I am usually a buy the bigger kind of person, but sometimes it is just too large to work well. Has anyone any experience swapping to a larger frame machine, and just wasn't happy with the physical size?
