Need a little help learning about a Cat D4C XL series 3.

I am looking at buying my first dozer. How do I tell if the D4XL is a Hystat or power shift? It has 2 levers on the left side. One lever has 1-2-3 and is two position reverse or forward. there is another lever to the left of that that says governor. It is a pedal steer I am assuming as it has three foot pedals. There is another lever on the right side that may control the 6 way blade. I will be using this on my farm for general cleanup and small tree removal. How do I tell how much life is left in the undercarriage? The adjustment on the tracks seems to be about 1-1/2 inches forward from what may be new from the looks of the paint. Thanks
