580B Hydraulics questions

Hello. Would like to thank everyone for all of the great advice on this forum.

I have a Case 580B loader backhoe. It is in fair shape, loose, lots of old hoses, rough paint, most electrics and guages gone/inop. Anyway, I was digging a stump this morning and a bucket hose blew. after getting some tools to take the busted hose off, I decided to try to raise the boom to get better access to the hose connection. As I raised the boom, and it did come up, a lot of hydraulic fluid squirted...
