I do a great deal of drainage ditch cleanout and have always struggled with keeping the bucket cutting level as I'm pulling it in to cut the bottom width. Grade is not an issue since I have a Spectra LB60 plumb compensating receiver. I've tried marking the stick and bucket mounts, one of those cheap slope gauges that show cross-slope, and having the receiver mounted to the bucket. I did upgrade to a tilt bucket this season and with the top of that bucket being flat it is considerably easier than a normal bucket. Just looking for any other ideas some of you might have out there. I've been running hoe for over 20 years so some would say I should know where level is but I'm just looking to be a little more peoductive, and maybe a little better fit and finish. Any advice appreciated.

Genie z45/22 no drive
Hi guys:
Sure hope someone can help - i live 1.5 hours from a tech they want $95 per hour going to cost me a bundle. I already had one tech out he left after an hour and the machine was in the same state as when he came -
The machine is a genie z45/22 I bought it at an auction about 8 years ago for 4k and used it to build my house and barn - well both of those now need repairs (the fun never stops). I replaced all the batts on the machine this year and one 36 volt motor several years ago
Problem One
The steering was not working. The pump is whirling and you can see the hoses move but the steering would just budge an inch or two and that would be it. I checked all the voltages (at the valve and joystick) and they were good. I pulled the priority valve on the proportional manifold - just unscrewed it and put it back in - didnt do a thing initially - i had to leave for a week and today the steering worked for ten minutes then stopped . I pulled the priority valve out and just put it back in and lo and behold - the steering works again . Now whats interesting is when I test for pressure at the hand pump manifold test site port - with all the other boom controls I get 2500 psi - when the steering activates i get 0 - the manual says I should get 2500 ( I have run the cylinders to dead end them and still no pressure registers ?) RIght now the steering does work and I only mention this situation in case it has anything to do with problem two
Problem Two
Drive does not work. Once again voltages at the valves all seem good . YOu can hear the motor whirl watch the hoses bounce. Overriding the valves manually on the drive manifold does nothing. When I check for pressure at the drive manifold I am only getting 500 in one direction coupled with an occasional change in sound - a low moaning ( I think the hamsters are dying) and zero pressure in the other direction. Tomorrow I will plug the pump and check its pressure but i dont htink its that as you can see the hoses move (maybe not enough pressure? but why 500 in one direction and zero in the other ?)
Perhaps I need a new pressure inlet check valve or relief valve? but I would think those would weaken over time and just let more pressure through ?
ANy ideas ?

Bobcat 335 cluncking swing and weak.
mardi 19 août 2014
I am the original owner of the machine when we first got it every once in awhile it would stop when you went to swing like something got jammed in between the pinion and ring gearthen at about 2000 hours the swing motor and/orcarrier seal started to leak. I took it to a dealer to get fixed supposedly they fixed the carrier and put new bearings and seals in it.500 hours later it is leaking again and when you go to swing it clunks/chugs. It was clunking before I took it to the dealer. I took the inspection cover off the bottom and took a pry bar to the pinion gear it does not seem to have any horizontal play is it possible that the bearings in the swing motor is shot and that is why I am gettin Clunking when I swing?
Skid hammer
Have a customer looking to buy my huskie hh500 hammer. It's been a great unit. I am looking at a atlas copco sbu220. Has a pin grabber plate for my mini to grab and will have a skid adapter if I decide on that unit. Any reviews on the atlas hammers? Open to other brands as well. Another dealer I deal with sells allied rammers so that would be the other unit I'm closely looking at. Just trying to buy the best all around unit for my customers. Thanks.
E70B hydraulic trouble
Any ideas would be appreciated. Cat tech was at a loss.
Front pump loses psi(right track, boom & bucket).
Rear pump works perfect(left track, stick & swing)
Tech said front pump loses signal pressure.
Takes 20 min to start having issues.
If front pump & rear pump used together works fine.
Have not heard from tech been a week.

NEED HELP with 1978 Cat 931 track tensioner seal replacement
My right track won't stay tight. I pulled the covers and cleaned it out and the seal around the tensioner shaft is bad. I'm hoping someone on here can give me instructions on replacing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Skytrak 8042 legacy, ocassional no boom down
Hello to all, New to the forum, hope someone can help. 2006 Skytrak 8042 will occasionally lock up on lowering the boom, increasing rpm will force it to lower but engine is under a lot of load. Turning off the engine and restarting will free it up and it works fine until the next time it decides to lock up again. We are looking at possible counterbalance valves and or pilot operated check valves located on the boom lift cylinders. Any help much appreciated. Thanks
Hyundai HL740 XTD-3 wheel loader performance and parts availability
Looking at one with about 10,000 hrs. Seller wants 19k but 17k is high as I'm going to go. They have cummins 5.9 engine and I believe ZF trans. so that's not a problem but I heard that if an axle goes out, you have to wait for parts to come from Korea and heard that some parts are obsolete for this model already. Any truth to that. I do have a dealer 20 minutes away. For those of you who have or had one, what is your opinion on this machine for performance and reliability. thanks.
brake repair
hello, I'm in need of some help. I'm working on an Austin-Western mod. 88L-1022 4wd grader, trying to remove brake drum from the flange, it won't come off. I removed the drive shaft to front wheels nuts holding drum to the drive flange no luck. I bought parts book it looks like it should separate. I can't find a repair manual for it. I think it is a 1956yr. tried some heat on/off wd-40 2 jaw puller, I don't want to break anything. any help would be helpful, thanks Ralph as you can tell this my first post thanks.
Cat259D/289D vs Bobcat T590/T650
Hi All,
I am new to the forum, and new to this line of work. I am looking for opinions on two items:
Cat vs Bobcat? (they and Case are the only dealers local to me so other ones like Tak and Kabota don't matter)
259D/T590 vs 289D/T650?
The first one is obvious, and I know it will come down to a matter of my own opinion and what I find most important. Please provide any thoughts regarding Cat and Bobcat and why one company is generally better than the other, in your opinion. This will help me confirm, or change, my opinions as they currently stand.
Second, I am torn between the two general model sizes represented by the 259D/T590 and 289D/T650 so any thoughts on that would greatly be appreciated on why one is better than the other.
I am a sole operator of the company and have been running it as a hauling company while building up business. Now I am at the edge of taking the step into the Compact Track Loader world so I can do work more in line with my interests such as cement removal, grading, debris removal, and the like.
The machine I buy, from either manufacturer and of any of the four models, will have:
- Cab with AC (I am in Florida, and it is damn hot here)
- Wide tracks (Florida sand is everywhere)
- Regular flow hydraulics (no plan on running bushwhacker and such, however a god deal could get me into Hi-Flow as a future growth)
- Joystick controls
- Advanced displays
- Power attachment connector
Attachments I plan on buying:
- Industrial grapple
- Hammer/breaker
- 6 way dozer blade
- Bucket
- Possiblly a bushcat/mulcher for land clearing
All of the above being said, any advice on anything you can think of to help me get started would be greatly appreciated.
I have a BigTex 14ET-16 equipment trailer rated at 14,000 pounds (or 11,500 leftover once subtracting trailer weight) It is being pulled by a Ford F700 dump truck so towing and stopping the trailer and CTL will not be an issue I imagine.
As for attachments, is it better to by the name brand Cat/Bobcat stuff, or is going 3rd party like Bradco the better option? I like being able to finance attachments at 0% as part of the main purchase so that is nice, but not sure if the added cost is justified v third party items..
I have a demo of the Cat machines this Friday and I have previously driven the Bobcats over the years, including the T590 and T750.
Any thoughts on the above would be great, as would any comments about things i have not even mentioned or thought of that some of you may have gone through when starting out.
Thanks!
Dave

I have called everywhere to get a gasket kit for a Holley Carb 42 2060034 7c 6014 90011 0479. I do not know the model number, so can't get one ordered. Does anyone know the model number? I would love any help.
JD 410C Start, Run 3-5 seconds, quit
This machine was used very little in previous years. We started to move it to a new location when just before loading, it quit. Looked like it was out of fuel, so we added a few gallons (Diesel). It restarted, ran fine, got loaded onto trailer. 20 mile trip. It would not start when we went to unload it. Using either, we could get it to run, but not stay running. We have since installed a new fuel filter, bled the fuel filter housing at the top, and have cleaned and checked air intake filters, all ok. Now it consistently starts no problem, and at any throttle setting, but it only runs for 3-4 seconds and then stops. I have cracked open the injector lines at the top of the engine, have checked to see if there is sufficient fuel supply to the fuel pump, and have tried to run it on quite a few different days and quite a few times each try. Always same result: start fine, run 3-4 seconds, quit. If I try to restart it immediately after it quits, it will restart, but run a bit shorter on time. If I leave it sit for even 30 seconds or more, it will start and run 3-4 seconds. Is there anything electrical that would cause this? I noticed a wire going to the injector and disconnected it at a quick connector and the machine would not start at all. Reconnect, and same 3-4 seconds run. Could something have shaken loose during the 20 miles we trailered this machine? Please help. Thanks
D31A INJECTOR issue
I bought a Komatsu D31A-17 dozer with the 4D105-5H eng.It had a frozen engine and somebody removed the injectors to try to lube the cylinders to free it up.That was 4 yrs. ago.The injectors were lost.I got replacements from komatsu part # 6134-11-3300.It is the one that the parts book calls for. I checked. The problem I'm having is when I insert the injector in the head it lacks an inch from seating down on the head.If somebody has one of these tractors could you please help me resolve my problem could you possibly take a picture of where the injector seats in the head or possibly get me the actual part # off of your injector. I know this is asking alot but I desperatly need your help.Komatsu has thrown up their hands on me.......I need to find the correct injector for my tractor to complete my rebuild..........thank you
