Yutani excavator info? 120? 140? Year?

dimanche 1 mai 2016

Hey, looking at an older mdi/ yutani excavator.

S/n YP0468

Can anyone get a year out of that?

Will undercarriage parts be easy to find? Pins are worn out.

Looks like a nice simple machine. Pilot controls, piston oump, Mitsubishi engine. Doesn't leak too bad.

Thanks for anything!

Digger Derrick Truck as Service Truck?

What I'm looking at is a 1990 Ford F-800 that was once a digger derrick truck for the city of Dallas. The sheet metal is a bit rough in places, and has a hydro leak on a line in the crane, but seems fairly solid. But before any money is spent, I figured I should ask the experts about the truck, specifically the crane.

The crane that's on it is a Telelect Captain 3900 digger derrick. It doesn't have the auger, but it's got the pincers on it. What I'm really concerned about is the winch line. The load chart on the machine says the cap of the crane is 15650lbs at a 3.2' radius. But instead of having a multi part cable block like you'd expect, it's got a single part line running about 1.5" dia rope.

So what I'd like to know is, are the capacities for the boom be rated as it was grabbing onto something directly? IE setting a telephone pole using the pincers. Or can I rig up a multi part block and be able to hoist what the load chart says? The load chart does say that all loads above 10k multi part lines are required.

1.5" manila has a breaking strength of 16650 lbs and a WLL of 1390lbs. 1.5" poly rope has a breaking strength of 42200 lbs and a WLL of 3520. Now I'm just estimating at the 1.5" dimensions, it's possible it's larger, but it's somewhere around that size.

Reason I'm looking at this truck is that I got a GREAT deal on a CHERRY of a 3200lb Autocrane, but I don't really have a truck set up to use it, and it's really small. I figure I can sell the Autocrane I've got, and buy this truck with a larger crane and service body. Also like this truck because it's still small enough run farm plates and has an auxiliary hydraulic port (not sure exactly what I'd use that for, but sounds handy) and can pull a tag trailer.

It would have many many uses around the farm, it's cheap and would be a step in the right direction towards eventually getting a CDL and semi truck. Only thing I'm not too excited about is that's it's got an automatic in it.

I'll be going back next weekend and doing a better function test than what I did this morning, but I'd like to know a bit more about these cranes and if using it as a service crane would be practical.

Thanks for any any and all info as usual.

Battery melted while in use. Both terminals fried & loose

Skid steer stalled on me in the middle of a mud hole and burned a little from rear compartment yesterday after 2 hours of light work.

About 8 weeks or 50-hours ago I added an additional Ground Negative cable from battery to motor block because the skid steer stopped starting without assistance from a jump. So I checked ground by adding a ground cable and that seemed to fix it fine. Battery checked and charged fine according to a load tester.

I've never had a battery do this before. Anyone knows what causes it? Both the Positive and Negative terminals are melted and separated from the top of the battery.

It's a tiny 12" long by 6" wide battery, about the same height as a car battery. This is a 3 cylinder New Holland LT185b diesel so I'm not sure how much punch it needs for startup.

Any ideas what I should check just to be sure I'm not going to fry a new battery if I install it and splice in new cables about 8" from the terminals?

Case Hydraulic Line Grommet Name?

Case 580sk - The lines at the top of the boom that allow the slack for the extendahoe. There are two rubber grommets (bushings?) attached to the lines with metal hose clamps that keep the lines from flopping around. What are those called? It looks like they pop in to holes on the stick.

Volvo 290

So I had the hoe mentioned above shred it tensioner pulley and belt. The pulley looked like someone cut a quarter inch off. The problem with that is the fuel pump is belt driven. Also not the first thime this has happened. So im wondering ifaanyone else has this issue. This would be the third pulley I wasn't around for the frist two.

Cat D8G engine woes

Farm I work on has a old Cat D8G.

Engine seems to be only running on three cylinders. Verified by cracking loose the injector lines at the pump. Also fuel pressure tends to stay in the red.
Engine runs somewhat smooth at idle but very heavy greay and black smoke. Third exaughst port from the front has what looks like oil or diesel fuel that had ran out. Engine rpm will pick up on its own and then settle back down. Also consuming a lot of oil now.

Don't hear any rod knock. Exhaust starts to "pop" at above idle.

Already pulled one injector to find it was bad. What should we check next?

Need Some Control Guidance

Hey all, first time posting on here, but I've lurked around for awhile soaking up what I can. I'm a younger (20) operator with a couple years experience running skidsteers, wheel-loaders, and occasionally mini-hoe. I got really lucky and worked for a guy who understood I wanted to learn things the right way and actually learn... not just get in a machine and play like a lot of guys my age.

Anyways, my girlfriend and I moved away so she could go to school and my old boss hooked me up with a job running skidsteer (mostly) doing base installation and sub-grade, with some labour at an asphalt paving company. This is great, good pay, good hours (with the exception of it being seasonal) but the entire fleet (20+) of skidsteers are old-school H-pattern, which I'm not the best on.. I can do it, but it takes longer, and I dont enjoy it quite as much as iso controls which I learned on (I know lots of you probably learned on H-pattern, im not hating :) ) I also sometimes feel like im not worth what they are paying me with these controls.

Now with my girlfriend done school we are planning on moving to British Columbia closer to her family later this year, maybe august-sept. I eventually plan on opening a small excavation, or maybe a crushing/aggregate + equipment company.

My question is this: Should I stay here for the money in order to be more secure for our move, and potentially fudge up my iso control skill using these h-pattern controls, or try to work for another company with iso controls for the experience as that is what most companies run these days anyways and what I would run for my company?

Thanks guys.
