Hello wondering if someone could help me out here. I am a diesel mechanic and only work on heavy equipment in my area. I have done work on this machine before it is a hitachi ex120-3 grey market machine.
In the past i had replace a number of things to get this machine running correctly including - engine controller, pvc, complete wiring harness, dp sensor, angle sensor, speed sensor and hydraulic pump coupling.
Got everything running normal on the machine and has been for about a year now.
A new problem arised this week while running the machine my customer says the boom up function just became extremely slow but all other functions normal.
I went ou to the machine to test the problem and was exactly as he described. All functions normal and engne runs fine except boom up function almost non existent.
I do have a manuall for this machine although it does try to point you in the right direction in the troubleshooting sections it is still vague on a number of problems to check.
I ended up at the proportional solenoid valves on the lh side of the main control valve and tested power to boom solenoid. As i said the harness is new and as result power here was fine.
I swapped the connector from the boom solenoid with the crowd and ran the machine.
Now the boom function came back to normal and the crowd out function is affected with the slowness.
Seeing this happen i thought i had found the problem (bad solenoid) - i purchased and swapped out the boom solenoid today and no change at all.
I made sure to install the spool correctly to line up with the ports in the valve and made sure the plunger moved freely.
I then began checking the boom up pressure sensors - no problems found with the sensors or the harness - power good and sensors test good.
I am now unsure where else to look. What has me most confused is that as i said if i swap the two connectors for boom/crowd function on the solenoids the problem moves to the arm.
Anyone have any input about where to go next??
Any info would help. Thanks
