I bought what I was told was a 1971 Ford 4500 backhoe. Have used it for almost 2 years with no major problems. I cranked it up a couple of months ago like normal, but after putting it in gear and moving about 50 ft, she died. This happened several times. It would idle fine, then die when I moved forward. I checked a couple of what I thought were obvious issues (I'm no diesel mechanic) and It seemed to be starving for fuel. Changed the fuel filter. Verified that I have fuel to the filter and past the filter. I'm very mechanically inclined, but know NOTHING about this machine, especially diesels! Any suggestions????
