Help with changing coolant on kobelco

jeudi 16 octobre 2014

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to maintenance and servicing my little SK17SR but i am most of the way way through a full service.

The only spot i have come unstuck is changing the coolant.

The service manual lists 2 difference fluid amounts in the lube chart and spec page. Forgive that lack of knowledge on gallons but its lists 2 lines as 1.8 liters and 3.7 liters.

When i drained it i only got about 2.9 liters and another 0.4ish from the high/low bottle.

This is what i have done:

- Drain old coolant

- Refill with water and cleaner

- Run engine for 10mins

- Flush out cleaner and refill with clean water until it runs clear

- Re drain all water

- Put in 33% mix of coolant and demineralized water. Filling from the radiator cap.

Here's where i am stuck! I put in the same quantity as what i took out. Its much less than the book seems to say.

Also, do i fill up the white bottle with the high/low marks? Or should it do this itself and then i top back up though the cap?

I've run the engine and the level in the radiator does not drop, but the bottle is still empty.

i really don't want to mess the engine up so I've left it for now while i seek advice.
