I have 3 Cat 320CL's and a 312CL excavator and am looking into depth control systems for foundations or trenches. I know there are a few depth control units availible that are able to be added onto my excavators, does anyone have any experience with them?
Also, is there some sort of system that can lock the bucket on an X-Axis? For example, some device where I can click and hold a button and pull the boom/bucket towards or away from and and it would float on a level horizontal plane (regardless of depth). Something like this would undoubtedly increase productively of the machines and operators.
Knowing your depth is one thing, but being able to smooth a surface and dig at a perfectly horizontal level takes years of experience.
