Hello Folks, I'm new here and I got a question I hope someone can help me with. I have a 1987 Deere 490D excavator, and the problems I'm having may be related to the pilot controls pump. I have cleaned out the old pilot filter and found quite a bit of steel shavings in it, I have looked online and found a blow up of the main pump device [uchida hyramatic #A8V55ESBR] which shows the pilot gear pump inside the bell housing of the unit. What I am not sure of, is where the port to test the pressure is located, and what the pressure should be. The local JD dealer has not been terribly helpful, I guess they are busy with bigger fish than me, as I can't even get them to answer such a simple F#$% question!! Hopefully someone here might be able to help. They told me the price of a new pump and I think I've got it figured out how to change it, but it sure would be nice to know if that really is the problem or not! Any help will be greatly appreciated, Thanks! Carl B.
