What to look for when buying used equipment?

Hello,

I'm planning on attending an auction next week. Looking for a skid steer and ~1-ton dump truck. I prefer diesel.

Just wondering what to look for on the machine?

I usually check:
- pins/bushings for play.
- engine (how clean, knocking, etc.)
- hoses faded, cracking
- cracks/fractures in steel
- belts

Then, there is the obvious, overall condition and hours on the machine, make sure it is not a grey market/asian model.

Are you guys checking anything else? Engine compression?
