1990 komatsu d58 stalling...bad fuel pump?

jeudi 10 septembre 2015

Hey guys, I was running my dozer for a few hours the other day. It was running fine, then all of the sudden it lost all power like it wasn't running on all 6, then eventually stalled. I managed to start it again and run it for another hour before the problem came back, but worse this time. Can't even move the machine now, if I attempt to increase the throttle it usually just dies.

I changed the fuel filter, which was pretty new to begin with, no difference. I loosened all the injector banjos, to bleed any air there might have been, also no difference.

I'm starting to consider things like a bad injector pump, obviously that would be worst case scenario, and the job of repairing/replacing is probably worth more than my whole machine is. Is there anything else I should try before I start to entertain such and extreme conclusion?

I don't have a repair manual to my machine, and I don't know that much about this particular fuel system. Is there a fuel priming pump before the injection pump, or does the injection pump do it all?
