Crane operator apprentice help.

jeudi 3 septembre 2015

greetings everyone,

i've been following this forum for a while but its my first time posting here. let me tell you a little about myself, i am a licensed union electrician who is certified in forklift and tele-handler operation, i've attended rigging courses, i possess my class A drivers license and i've operated some small boom truck hoisting cranes here and there. i have been wanting to switch careers and become a crane operator but i am having a hard time getting my foot in the door here in Connecticut. i have applied to all the crane companies located in state and a few in the surrounding areas as well but to no avail. seems like a really hard field to get started in. Most places seem interested in my resume but they want more experience or they just never get back to me. i was wondering what other steps i can take to get in with a company? should i pay the money and take a few crane courses maybe get cic or nccco certified? (even though in CT it means nothing!) is it worth it just for the experience? im open to any/all suggestions. thanks in advance.

chris.
