Well I have finally picked up a twin screw truck to move the excavator around with. The single alxe FL-70 would do it, but, it was all she wanted.
My new gal has Detroit power and an EF 9 speed.
When I purchased it foam a local auction a couple months back someone had got it a little close to something on the right side and took off the right side tank steps and busted the right fender.
I first changed all the fluids and filters in the truck and had the overhead ran. Cost me just over a grand.
Moved the excavator for the first time last week and the truck did the job very well. Keeps good oil pressure, runs at 180 deg., starts easily and runs good and shifts smooth.
This week I visited the junk yard and picked up a set of tank steps and brackets, was not the correct ones but they will do for now. I also picked up 3 pieces of frame decking and a nice frame step, I had a harbor freight air hose reel in the shop and so I installed all this yesterday.
I need a little advise on the following items.
(1) Right side speaker in not working, left side speaker rattles a little.
Does anyone know the color codeing on the freightliner stereo wiring?
How do you change the overhead speakers, I do not see the access at first glance.
(2) The A/C cools good but cuts off after a while and you have to turn it off for a bit and then it will come on again.
My guess is either the thermostat or the compressor switch in the dryer. Thoughts??????
(3) Paint code or color?
(4) Is there a good big truck forum that anyone would recomend?
