Rigging George Jarvis's 1953 Northwest 80D at Zagray Farms

samedi 5 septembre 2015

Joined QVEA (the organization that puts on the machinery show at Zagray) a few weeks ago, and thus far have met some awesome and very interesting people. We have 2, 22ton Fairbanks engines. They were used to provide power for a water treatment plant I believe. There is currently a pad being built to put them on display on. In order to move them we rigged up George Jarvis's 1953 Northwest 80D that has been sitting for a while. After the project is done we would like to put the backhoe front on the machine. Very interesting process, had a few scary moments when rigging the gantry (you can see this in the video, I'm the one with the red shirt). The video was taken by another member. It explains and shows the whole process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHZoW9BcpQo

Tightened the bolts on the boom sections (George had put them together before we got there, he's 86...) and hooking the lift lines to the boom, using Koehringmans (Sean's) Koehring 455, (not sure why picture is flipped?)

Getting Sean's Koehring in position to hook up the chains to pull the Gantry up to get into place for its pins

After many scary moments haha and learning a lot, got it reeved and did a test lift with its 2 and 1/2yd drag bucket
