A friend just purchased a 2006 Cat 236 with about 1100 hours and appears to be in very good shape.
It has a mitsubishi engine and it sounds like it's starving for fuel after running at high rpm for about 5 to 10 seconds.
It runs fine at low and mid range RPM, but when revved up for a few seconds it sounds like it gets a little quieter and then starts missing and puffing a bit of fuel smoke (looks like only a couple cylinders) and drops in RPM and runs rough .like it's starving for fuel.
The fuel filter has been replaced, and the electric lift pump on top of the filter housing appears to be working ..it puts out approx 4.5 psi when turning the engine over.
When disconnecting the fuel line from the filter housing and blowing back into the tank with an air line it doesn't seem to be restrictive or blocked.
Any other ideas for things to check or common problems on these 236's?
