I'm a new guy from eastern Virginia, and just signed up here, and just want to say thanks to Steve and the board owners and moderators and members for hosting this valuable resource. I got on with my first post and question last night, and immediately got lots of helpful replies.
Joined up because I bought an old Case 580CK backhoe a few months back, and ran into some problems yesterday that I hope aren't too bad. New to diesels, new to heavy equipment, new to hydraulic systems, but learning a lot just reading posts here.
Bought the backhoe to dig holes for a slab and footings for a shop and house on a piece of land I recently purchased (hope to retire there someday) and plan to use the backhoe also to drag trees from the land to a bandsaw mill that I'm planning to make (using a kit for part of it). Will probably want to add some hydraulics to the bandsaw mill (to lift the logs onto the mill, and to turn them over, and clamp them while sawing, and pull the saw carriage through the log), so I'll probably be posting up on that when I get to it.
Like hunting and fishing (great saltwater fishing here), boating, welding, woodworking, shooting, and looking forward to using the Forum. Not sure what I can contribute, but will try to give back whatever way I can.
