Hey all! Private owner/user here with acreage. Various tractors, crawlers and related equipment over the years.
In the past 5 years or so I have only had a skid steer around.
Have a bunch of work coming up which could really benefit from a mini-ex and went on the hunt. Came across a PC40-7 with factory steel tracks and manageable hours at a price I couldn't refuse.
Nice machine, doing some maintenance that was overlooked by it's previous owner, but nothing major and will be back in top shape shortly.
Only downside? Machine doesn't have an aux hydraulic circuit. At first I didn't think it mattered, I was just going to throw a manual thumb on it and be done, but now I have determined that I need to run a vibratory plate compactor on the machine, and I wouldn't mind a hyd thumb.
While I have always worked on the machines myself, including pretty thorough teardowns and engine rebuilds, I have never ventured into the world of adding hydraulic circuits.
Has anyone here ever done one of these? Any insights for me, or things to consider? Maybe a way I can tap into the boom swing foot pedal circuit with a diverter or some such?
In any event - thanks for the feedback!
