Questions Regarding 1300CX Scat Trak

Howdy,

About a month and a half ago I bought a 1300CX Scat Trak skidsteer at auction for $2,600.

At first I was a little bit scared because the broke down New Holland on one side of it went for over $7,000, and the other New Holland (which seemed worse than the other) on the other side went for over $8,000 and it was spraying hydraulic oil everywhere, engine smoked like a train, and could barely move. I suddenly thought that "someone must know something I don't... crap, what did I just buy!!!!!!"

Aside from a leaking hydraulic hose that ran to the quick coupler, one tire that was bald, no muffler, and the fuel gauge not functioning, the machine has nothing wrong with it that I can find. Overall, extremely happy with the purchase, especially at the price. Best of all, it didn't cost me anything to fix the problems with exception to paying $400.00 for four brand new tires at a different auction, and the $125.00 to have the old ones removed and new ones remounted at the local tire shop.

The machine runs as smooth as can be, has tons of power, the bucket will stay up in the air for days without drifting down, it starts right up every time, doesn't smoke (except at startup)... just a good little machine! There are no welds anywhere, the pins and bushings are all tight, and it appears to be built FAR stronger than a friend's Bobcat. A LOT stronger!

And my goodness the ease of access to everything! Open up the rear door and anything you need access to is right there. And if one needs to get under the cab, just loosen two bolts in the rear of the cab and tip it forward. Then there is access to everything else. Very impressed at the layout, especially for a 6'2" 250 lbs fellow like myself. Even getting in and out of the machine is easy for me. I have gotten into some skid steers where you need to damn near be a contortionist to even be able to get in or out of. This machine... not the case. I bloody friggin love it!!

The problem that I have however, is that I cannot find much information out there regarding these machines... Likely why it went so cheap at the auction. I know that they were bought out by Volvo in the early 2000's, but that seems to be about all. So, I figured I would post on here to see if anyone might be able to give me a few pointers.

1) On the top of the cab from inside the machine, there are two knobs that slide. They operate pins which slide out and appear to hold the loader arms in place when lowering the arms from a raised position. What exactly is the purpose of these pins? Safety? Ease of access? The loader arms even have hooks that latch on these pins, which makes me believe it was meant to hold the loader in the air.

2) When the engine is running at certain speeds, or if I make it travel faster, the levers have some vibration. While not much vibration, after operating it for about 20 minutes my hands start to go numb from the vibration. What could be causing this to happen? I have yet to pivot the cab forward yet to get underneath and am wondering if perhaps there is something going bad on the pump because both sticks vibrate... Again, only at certain speeds though. Cavitation perhaps??

3) I see that there are many posts regarding 1300C's or 1300D's, but what does the "X" stand for in the 1300CX model number? Have yet to see a machine like that out there. Does it denote a high flow pump?

Anyways, that is about all. Very happy with this little creature. It is going to make my life moving bales off the field or into the barn so much easier and faster.

Thanks!!!
