New to the forum (and cranes hi everyone!
American, living in Japan, trying to build a log cabin out in the mountains. I picked up an reaaaaally old "AICHI" boom truck from a friend who had already build two using it. Everything seems mechanically sound and I've already used it for a year but recently the wire rope broke when lifting a particularly heavy log. (it is a monster!)

Anyhow, I have a connection with a local wire rope manufacturer so I put the two hooks the crane came with in the back of my van and brought them with me back to Tokyo so the new rope can be attached.

The bottom one is what was on the crane, the top one I didn't even realize was there until I broke an old lock off one of the tool boxes on the back of the crane. It has a pulley and I'm guessing it's probable what I should be using for lifting logs? If so, my question is how do I rig it? The bottom one without the pulley was clamped on so I don't understand how the one with the pulley could attach to that or how it should be rigged....and help would be greatly appriciated!!
