Have a 99 RD688s with a Mack T2130 trans. When I flip the switch to high range there is a constant blast of air out of the exhaust port on the shift lever and it doesn't shift to high range. I can however get it into high range if the range selector and the spilt selector are both set to high. The air out of the exhaust port also happens when the selector is in low range. The only time there is no air leaking from the exhaust port is when both the range and spit are both selected on high. This happened earlier in the week and I figured it was frozen because it's the first time it's been so cold. I put a heater under the truck and the problem went away in about 20 minutes. The next day it was even colder out and had the same problem again. I have tried a heater again and a heat gun in the range valve and cylinder but no luck. Thanks.
