Sullair oil leak?

lundi 9 janvier 2017

I have a 1979 185 Sullair hooked to a 4 cylinder John Deere diesel. I use the rig for sandblasting and it is maintained it to the max. It was rebuilt 3 years ago. For some reason it has a problem the past year of dripping out from around the compressor oil filter. When it starts up, oil pours down the filter, but if I idle it up, it will seal off within a couple minutes, and the issue will not happen again. Not a single drop. Only when it is started without having run within a few hours. I put a new filter on it (Baldwin), and the issue was fixed. No leaks, even in cold weather. About a month later, it started again. So I switched to a high pressure Baldwin, and the same result. I tried to order a Sullair filter but recieved the wrong one, so been using Baldwin. Could this be the filter? Or is it building up too much pressure on start-up for some reason? And if so, why? Thanks!
