working in clay bucket plugs

Doing some tile work and have about 350 feet in and covered. However, having trouble keeping the bucket from having clay stick to it big time. Any tips or tricks to keep the bucket clean when working in clay, have about another 600 feet to do. I know wait till it is dry. Going through some springs for a bit then it gets dry till I hit another spring. I use slip paint in the gravity wagons for grain and was wondering if that would last in a bucket.
