Ford 4500 loader bucket cylinder repack

Hello I've got a ford 4500 that needs a loader bucket curl cylinder repacked. I am having trouble get the large gland nut on the cylinder off. Even with heat and a large pipe wrench. Any tips? Am I missing something that is locking it in place?
