Case 850G Operation?

dimanche 31 janvier 2016

I just bought a Case 850G and had a few questions about operating it correctly (No luck finding a manual). I will be using it to clear about 100-150 acres of brush and clear fence rows. After that maybe build a road or two and clean out a few pools.
#1 I think I have the turn levers figured out but am not really sure if it hurts to use the brakes to turn rather than the levers? Also I'm guessing you just shift them at full throttle like a Cat powershift.
#2 It doesn't have a decelarator pedal. Can you just shift forward and reverse at full throttle or do most people use the foot pedal to run the dozer?
The dozer has 3400 hours on it and seems to be in good shape. I plan on servicing it and cleaning it up good this week. I like to keep equipment fairly clean and leak free if possible. Thanks for any help.

690 ELC electrical problems

I have a 690 elc I have had for many years. Has always worked fantastic until this summer. Started having problems with mode control. Any time I changed modes or engine speed all hydraulics would cease functioning. Would have to go back to idle and slowly work it up to speed using a function as I raised speed. This was some what of an intermittent problem until today. All power to the function controls quit. No lights or controls of any kind. Engine starts fine and excavator moves but no engine speed control. Idle only. Have checked wiring and everything seems fine. No frayed wires or loose connections. Can this be a malfunctioning monitor controller? Can anyone help me with this problem?

1994 JCB Sitemaster Fan/Drive Belt Install

So I tore a fan belt(s) today running the Backhoe (94 Sitemaster 4x4 with AC) So I see that I need 3 Belts, 1 smaller drive bent for the AC (which is beat up but still in tact), and 2 larger belts for the fan. I have two questions:

1) Since this thing does not really have AC (All the glass was vandalized years ago) Do I "need" the smaller drive belt that pumps the AC? I can't for the life of me remove the (4) 10mm bolts on the front of the fan which I will have to do for the smaller belt, but access is a B$ich. I think I can get the larger belt around it if I had to, I already removed the lower shaft for the Hyd Pump. If I have to have the smaller belt any hints on removing the fan?

2) Do these two larger belts PN 01/124405 come as a pair? http://ift.tt/1QRAKYr

-On the website it says (pair) but does that mean it includes 2 belts? Or saying I need two? I mean for 20.00 I figure its just one belt. I will just get a number off the belt and get one at Napa auto parts probably.

Thanks!:notworthy

t770?

Really wondering if a bobcat t770 would be the right machine. I'm very new to the equipment market so any input is appreciated But I'm looking for a machine that would be good for forestry mulching in fairly hilly areas. Would that be a good machine for that type of work? Or is there something that would be much better?

JD 455G 2nd Gear

Weather finally broke and got a chance to work with the 1995 455g Loader. Saturday was fine but today seem to have lost 2nd gear forward and back. 1st and 3rd are fine but 2nd goes in sporadically but not for the most part.

Any ideas where to start? I rarely run this machine so it sits for long periods at a time.

Thanks,

1998 gradall excavator xl 4100 hydraulics not working

Was wondering if anyone seen this problem? The engine in the upper deck idles up but I dont have any of the hydraulics working and the gradall will not move either from the upper deck motor. The gradall will drive from the lower engine but when you are going to work from the top engine the hydraulics will not function. I changed the hydraulic filters and still nothing. The pump drive that mounts behind upper deck engine has been replaced and still nothing. This pump drive was replaced because it was all messed up when it was removed to inspect. This is were the pumps get their pressure from the pump drive engaged with the flywheel but still no change in the hydraulics. Anyone worked on these gradalls?:Banghead

older 430 case 188 diesel question

Hi all , new poster with not much to offer in the help department but need some advice on a 430 188 diesel head gasket change. The reason i think it is a head gasket as i get pressure in cooling system and some minor engine oil in coolant. No coolant in oil. backhoe starts fine and runs great. I think im hearing a slight sucking sound in exhaust.. I have not noticed any loss in power.. I have checked valve adjustments and such. . I found a suppler that can set me up with the head gasket narrow or large flange .. It just looks like id have to pull water pump to take head off. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Case 580L transmission debris

Just bought a 1998 580l with 2850 hours. Whenever I buy a machine I like to change all the fluids and filters. When I drained the transmission pan, the fluid initially was very thick (was cold), but more importantly there was about a thimble full of sludgy metal attached to the drain magnet. When I removed the suction screen there were little black metallic flakes attached to it. Not many. Inside that screen, the magnet had abt half a thimble full, or a little less of magnetic black sludge. I ran a magnet through the drained fluid. All in all I'd say I had just less than a half an ounce of gritty black junk (no silver looking stuff). I'm guessing it had the original Case filter as it said Case. Was very rusty and I needed a 3 ft breaker bar to turn it loose.
The machine had no problem before I switched the fluid and none now. When I put it in first or second it does so with a nice jolt. Feels great. I will say when it's in 3rd or 4th, if there is any rise at all in the road it slows right down. Is this normal? Is the amount of debris just normal wear and tear for a machine that hasn't been serviced since new?
I know I'm probably over thinking this, but I'm loving this machine and want to keep it going for years.
Thanks in advance.

keeping ROOTS out of screens

Concrete curb cuts: vertical or horizontal

I need to remove 30 feet of concrete curb next week so as to tie the current project's new driveway into the street. I met with the state highway fellow yesterday to go over the lane closing plan, and he sort of threw cold water on the cutting operation I had in mind. My concrete sub and I had planned to cut straight down (vertical) along the edge of the asphalt lane for the 30 foot distance, then (after cutting the curb crossways at both ends) use the excavator to pull the curb away from the street. But the state guy said he doesn't think we can cut it deep enough to do this. He says there is two inches of asphalt overlaying the lip (gutter) of the curb, and he doesn't know how thick the lip is. He is afraid that if we don't cut through completely that we will damage the asphalt lane when we pull back on the curb, and it's too cold to repair the asphalt.

So he wants us to try to cut the the top of the curb off horizontal to the top of the asphalt traffic lane. I don't even know if they make a saw that will lay on its side and make this cut.

Any advice for us? To make matters worse, we will have to do the project's second driveway in a couple of weeks in the same manner.

Dresser TD7G transmission oil

I'm trying to make it a clean sweep of all oil, filters, and maintenance issues with the Dresser before putting it in service. This ain't cheap! Numerous aspects of the tractor differ from the manual. The thing of greatest concern is fluid volume. Final drives needed 2 gallons more than the manual calls for. Transmission calls for 74 quarts, only 43 came out though the dipstick shows full. The oil from hydraulics was clean, and pretty. I felt bad changing it. Transmission oil looks like old engine oil; black. It stinks, but I don't think it's a burned smell. The bottom of the transmission has 5 drain plugs. One in center uses 3/4" ratchet to remove. All others need 1". What does this mean. I DON'T HAVE A 1" DRIVE, BUT WILL GET ONE IF IT'S IMPORTANT. The torque converter looks to me to be a twin to my Case 580K converter. The Case backhoe looks to have identical Cummins engine too. Some 580Ks had a drain in the rotating internal portion of the torque converter, later models did not. This old oil is ugly enough I want it fully drained before refilling with new Hy-Tran from Case/IH.

I'm also wondering if I even have a TD7G. I have only a hand cut decal to say it is. The nameplate has no numbers AT ALL!

2005 Mustang 2109 Service manual? AND/OR Perkins 1104c-44T service manual?

Hi Guys,

Looking for a service manual (PDF or hard copy) for a 2005 Mustang 2109 Skidsteer. Would also like to see the service manual for the Perkins 1104c-44T turbo motor. Curious about any issues with this engine. I have spoken to a few older guys who claim that this motor has oil sump issues, especially working on grades or leaving the machine idling on steep slopes. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi all,

Im Al or Alex..Im from the sunny UK and have worked with heavy plant for little over 12 years.I was an operator on a stone quarry working the levers of a SK330 Kobelco, was on that job for 6 years then I got my Dozer ticket and had a blast at being a Dozer op on a semi retired D6N,moved back from the pushing to the digging as work changed and that saw me on a 345 CAT for a good while, worked as a fitter for a hire fleet in gaps in between(Recession).Eventually I got fed up of being out in the cold so I now run an online shop called http://ift.tt/1JQfwJ5 (Construction Machinery paints for those that are interested)

Look forward to getting to know you

Terex Hr 1.6 Stalling Under Load

Whats up guys im having a bit of a problem with my 2006 Terex Hr 1.6 excavator.

At first it started with a tough time starting it then it would finally start and when you would try driving it would immediately stall and when i checked the Diesel 3 cylinder Mitsubishi motor it had turned out to be a crazy loose V belt that was slipping. I tightened that up and it started up great and ran well but now when its under load it bogs down and stalls.

I changed the engine Oil and Filter along with the Air filter and i also did a Radiator Flush and Fresh coolant. The hydraulic oil is Halfway full.

If anyone has any idea as to why its stalling under load i would greatly appreciate any help, ive never worked on excavators before im just a handy home mechanic.

This tractor has what is called a DIESEL STARTING FLUID ADAPTER-----You remove the squirt nozzle and push the can up into the adapter and push the can up while rolling the engine--injecting either into the tractor.

Angle cylinder beat up

My TD7G Dresser is new to me. The blade angle cylinders have some scuffing from contact with the inside edge of the tracks. I initially assumed that wear at the pivot points under the tractor explained the contact. Checking, I find little wear in those pins and bushings. My only theory lies in specifications. TD7E has the same tread, but 1" thinner track pads. What causes it? How do I control it?

Most very large crawlers have "walking" undercarriages. Maybe I am not using the right terminology. The front crossmember pivots in the center allowing the two track frames to not be parallel. Many small ones do not. Why do I prefer one over another in a 15,000 LB machine.

Case 570lxt not moving?

So I changed the hydraulic fluid on my Case 570lxt, and fixed some leaks it had. But now it won't move forward or reverse.
It was working good before I did anything. It turns on great, and the bucket lifts but when I try moving it it doesn't move.
It makes a grinding type noise when i go to move it, and also kind of wants to engage but it doesn't. What do you think could be
the problem? Does my hydraulic change have anything to do with it? Or could it be some electrical problem? All help is appreciated thanks.

I have a cattle truck with 5mm chequer plate floor that needs replacing.
It is welded, underneath, to rhs cross members.
I'ld like to blow those welds off without removing the tray, if possible, but access is very tight in spots.
Never used a plasma before, but thinking it might be an option.
Doesn't matter if we make a mess of the floor, it is rooted anyway.

D6H Hard nose loose

I'm looking at a 6H to buy and the hard nose moves back and forth when you lift and lower the blade. now I did research the replacement pins and in doing so discovered there is also bearings in the bors. So i'm wondering what my chances are that i could get away with just replacing the wear parts or if i would have to do some line boring.

The other issue is the hard bar. I know for sure that the end bearings are out but not sure if its eat into the bar its self. Not sure where to look for after market. I do remember seeing a thread on here some time ago where a guy had a simillar problem and he got an after market on for under 2k i think (5685.00 from CAT). I have a price on parts from cat for everything for the hard nose to the hard bar (including the bar itself) $7536.00
I have yet to get oil samples.
Is there any other problems that the older H"s are proned to?

If you move it too soon it will lock the drive for several minutes. We've had it for several years, doesn't see heavy use and seems to only act this way in cold weather. Thanks in advance for any help.

Forks for my JD544

Hello

Looking for advice from experience, I have a 544 with a bucket, I have JRB long forks, I am also looking for short forks, I will be using to move junk cars, would like the flexibility to pickup lengthwise and from the side, Will eventually upgrade to an l70 or similar but have this to work with for now. what do you think is my best option to start moving my cars around???

Sorry if my write up seems cut and dry but my 1st attempt just got deleted by accident so I removed all the fluff.

Thanks for the help!!!

-Alex

CAT M315 excavator diagnostic software & hardware needed

Hello,

Company I work for is going to buy some used M315 & 312 excavator. Can anyone tell me what hardware and software I must have for doing general diagnostics to those vehicles with pc?
Actually I have a licenced Electronic Technician 2015 and a communication adapter 3 which I use for wheel loader diagnostics. Are these enough for the excavator M315?

Thank you in advance

L70 Intermitant brake failure

Hi all

My L70 occasionally has 100% brake failure. It's not front or rear but the complete circuit.
Name: IMG_0590.jpg Views: 0 Size: 60.1 KB

The gauge drops to zero
Name: IMG_0591.jpg Views: 0 Size: 50.8 KB

My older Volvo loader has a compressor but this one doesn't seem to have one.

Looking through manual it appears to be this that powers the braking circuit.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Cheers

Dash flickers when key moved slightly so im guessing the ignition is broke? Or startup relay? Anyone got a diagram to look at???
cheers in advance.

Can a Case 188 block be a donor for a cracked 207 block?

First time poster, but I have checked the forum search here for previous threads on this subject. I found a few but they all were kinda short on specifics.

I have a 1978 Case 580C backhoe that I just bought (got it for relatively cheap) and the block is shot.
It has the 207D non turbo engine. Engine Serial no 2850509
Pulled the sleeves and the block is cracked between all four cylinders. Water froze.
The engine has low hrs (2700) and everything else specs out. I checked the crank and it is on the high side of standard. Same with valvetrain,..almost zero wear. Head is in great shape, as well as everything else on the backhoe itself. It's a shame this block is shot because everything else is in outstanding shape. What to do?

I have had no luck finding a 207 block or even a core engine. I have found a few 188 engines and have heard that the "blocks are the same" But I need to be convinced before I dump money into a 188 donor core motor.

I see where the 188 and the 207 have the same stroke, but different bores. When they went from the smaller bore on the 188 to the larger bore on the 207 did they achieve this by just making the wet sleeves thinner? Or did they change the actual bore of the block that the wet sleeves went into?
(Want to know if my 207 sleeves, pistons, and rods will fit in there)

I've also heard that some of the 188 blocks had different widths on the lips of the wet sleeves on top.
If so,...which 188 type should I be looking for to allow me to use my 207 sleeves?

Reason I want to know is that what I'd like to do is buy the 188 and just use the block,...and swap all the 207 intermals over to that block. I know the rod journals are different on the 188 but if I swap the crank,....that shouldn't matter right?

The guy about 2 hrs North of me has a few 188's to choose from,...is there one specific type (year, etc.) in particular to look for or even ones to specifically NOT choose. ?

Basically, I want to know,...for 100% sure,...that if I had a bare, completely stripped 188 block, can it be used to put all my 207 stuff in without issues?

Thanks in advance for helping me out with this. I am hoping to get this machine together soon so I can put it to work on my new homestead. Have lots of projects in mind.....

Cat 277C yellow exclamation warning and beeper.

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie here from the other side of the World but I'm having an issue that needs some outside expertise. I have a 277C with only 200 hours on it, but it is three or four years old. Last week it started showing a yellow exclamation warning on the left side top panel. I don't have the top right panel so no way to read codes. If the yellow light was on it would steer slightly to the left in the straight ahead position and you have to keep pushing it back. Really annoying.

In desperation I purchased a CAT ET system and it has a code E568 and says left drive motor speed sensor #1: Erratic, Intermittent or Incorrect Then another one that says Left Drive Speed Sensor #1: Abnormal Frequency, Pulse Width or Period?

Any clues as to what this could be?

I've followed the wiring where it exits the lower side of the cabin and attaches to the hydraulic lines. There is a plug there and I removed and cleaned that but it was clean as can be inside. Very well sealed. There isn't any physical damage to the wiring that I can see. You can trace with your fingers and a mirror and see that the wires go into the back of a silver steel housing which is probably the speed sensor itself.

Could loose tracks make one side go faster than the other and upset the ECM? I've only recently purchased the machine and done less than 20 hrs on it but I don't think it's even had it's first service let alone had the tracks adjusted ever.

At first the light and beeper came up and stayed on until forward motion stopped and hand was off joystick. Then after a while it actually stopped the machine, no forward or backward motion just the bucket still operating fine. Turn off the machine and do a full restart and it came back again.

Back to the shed with it, checked filters, air intakes, levels etc, topped up the hydraulics which were 8 liters down and cleaned the pre air filter which was nearly clogged with fine dust and I was sure that this would fix it but the next time it went out it repeated the same fault.

Here's a picture of the screen dump created by the CAT ET.

New Tires for my Tractor

My rears on my tractor are worn and thin. Current size is a 420/70/24 R4 tire on a 15" wide wheel. This tire has become a bear to find and when found is Butt _ _ _ Expensive... to the tune of about $862 each, not counting tax and shipping.

That said, this is a 4wd tractor running 10-16.5 R4 tires up front. Would there be an issue moving the rears up to 17.5x24 R4 tires?

I have a conversation going on another site about this, but I brought it here because I have noticed that a John Deere 110 TLB (2000-2012 models) run the 10-16.5/420.70.24 tire combination and it is a 4wd chassis tractor.

If it works for one manufacturer, would it work for another, or would gearing be different thereby changing the drive line rotation ratios?

Current machine information
Kubota L2950 DT GST 4WD with Loader
Rear tires - 420/70/24 R4 - (47.1" tall with Rolling Circumference of 148")
Front tires - 10-16.5 Skid Steer Tires -- (30.78" tall with Rolling Circumference of 96.69")

Proposed 17.5x24 Rear Tires - (48" tall with Rolling Circumference of 150.75")

I just want to make sure that I am not putting undue stress and binding on the 4wd drive line by mismatching the tire sizes on this machine.

Opinions: D41P-6

I'm looking for a 6-way dozer to add to my fleet. I've ran JD 450G & a D31P and while they did what I expected, I'm looking for a larger machine. I already have a 45,000# straight dozer for the bulk pushing and I need a clean-up and grading machine. I don't really have space restraints as I don't do much residential hence the reason for a slightly larger rig. I already have a lowboy so no hauling issues, and a couple skid steers for the little stuff.

I only expect to put about 200 hrs/yr on this one so it's more of a support machine. Still better than hauling both a big dozer and a tractor or skid steer for the small jobs.

What can you tell me specifically about the D41 and any other suggestions on a similar sized dozer.

NOOB: Gravel Parking Lot

Been reading this forum and watching dozer vids like crazy for days now...for hours at a time. I will continue to do so moving forward. Great info.
I have a small bar in Houston with a small asphalt parking area and a large grassy area that's mostly flat but too bumpy for cars. I've been getting busy lately and need more parking because vehicles are getting stuck in certain spots.
It rains too often and the grassy area isn't compacted. I got quotes and just couldn't afford it.:Pointhead
I have to do this myself due to finances. I have operated skids, tractors and such but never a dozer. I have a customer & experienced uncle who will operate the dozer for free if I rent one. My uncle lives about 4 hours away & it keeps raining during the time he's off work to come and do it.
It's a little less than an acre of grassy land. I used a loader (needed a dozer) to spread about 30 loads of dirt and the grade is all wrong and not compacted.
When I got quotes they said they'd level, compact, spread the gravel and compact the gravel. This is what I want to do. I'm going to install 4" of gravel on it for now and come back and put another 4" later. I'm trying to do as much as I can with what I have to work with.
My uncle said rent a dozer for him so I was going to get a Case 550 or similar from Aztec and a sheepfoot roller (idk what size). I'm buying the gravel directly from the yard, Southern Crushed Concrete, with delivery. It's raining now. If it's not too sloppy, and he's off work, he'll come do it and I'm fine. If not, I have to utilize my customer, myself or just postpone it all.
I have a huge Super Bowl Party coming and they're planning to tailgate in that area but it's too muddy and they're worried. I am as well so I'm trying to get something done. If you guys can offer advice I'd sure take it. And appreciate it. I WANT to jump on that dozer and scrape, grade and compact it myself since the area is relatively small figuring I could 'fix' the mess ups. So that's why I'm asking for your advice and expertise. Thanks.

CDL DOT physical exam

I am not quite sure if I am in the right forum or website but, any insight is appreciated.

Cardio inhibitory syncope and CDL license/DOT medical exam.?
About 3 years ago, someone that I know fainted suddenly while seated in a barber chair. In following up at the doc's office, a tilt test was done. They fainted and heart stopped for about 13 seconds before the doc stepped in. From that, they were diagnosed with cardio inhibitory syncope. Meds were given but, never taken. There had been no fainting issues before then and none since.

This person is now interested in becoming a OTR driver and training for their CDL license. We read somewhere that fainting/apnea type issues were a no-go when it comes to passing the exam. In discussing this with the person, they don't plan to mention the syncope or episodes to the examiner because they feel it was just a 1-time happening. Won't old medical records somehow reveal this at the time of testing? T

Mustang 2040 keeps stalling

Hello, my Mustang 2040 skid steer will randomly stall. It will start up and run with no problem till it happens again. There doesn't appear to be any pattern to it.
I am thinking it is a faulty engine protection device (low oil, high temp etc) but the engine is not hot and has all of its fluids.
Does anyone know exactly what devices are fitted that could cause this? If i can get a list i will work thru them to find the culprit.
Thankyou, Paul

941 Steering Clutch Adjustments

On my recently acquired 941 Ser # 80H 298X (cannot read the last number) I ordered & received a parts book on Ebay that covers that Ser # but this parts book covers lever steer not pedal steer like mine. I was wanting to ask if anyone may have a page or two that shows the linkage & mechanism inside of the steering clutch compartment. I believe there may be a roller assembly just inside of the case on the end of the linkage & I wanted to get a better understanding of what the breakdown is like, if anyone could help me. Hitachi EX120 swing bearing bolts

I am working on a Hitachi ex120, and found there to be 8 bolts missing from the underside of the swing bearing. There is 6 missing underneath the cab, and another two directly opposite on the other side of the machine. I haven't been able to find any information, except in an older post on this forum that said there should be 30 in total, and in a catalog that says it ships them in packs of 36. There's nothing at all in the manual, and only 28 on the machine I'm working on. at first I assumed that they had broken off, but when I look at the top side of the bearing, all the bolts that are still in poke out the top about 5mm. Where there are studs missing, there's nothing poking out, and no hole where a stud would come through.

I'm doing this as part of my foundation heavy duty course, so I'm not sure if I just don't know my ****, or what. I'm basically convinced that they're supposed to be empty holes.

anybody know what the hell the deal with these is? thanks.

CAT 955K wont ramp up and looks to be spraying oil from oil pan/engine gasket

I recently got my 955K stuck. I drove it back to the house, about 150 yards, and everything was running fine. I have had it idling for a few minutes while I moved to loader around to get a linkage pin lined up so I could put it back in. 2 days ago, I started it up and it would not throttle up. I got off to check the throttle linkage and noticed a couple of fine streams of oil coming from what looked to be the oil pan and engine interface. I shut it down immediately as I also noticed some knocking coming from the engine. The oil was coming from the front right of the oil pan. Is it possible that something has clogged the oil lines and backed up enough to pressurize the oil pan? Any ideas? I am going to remove the filter this evening to check for debris and to check the bypass on top of the filter housing. I am not very familiar with these machines so any response will not insult my intelligence.

Winter dozing

I have a little 10 acre patch of trees to take down for a customer. Mostly poplar. 8"-12" diameter trees for the most part. I tipped them all over about 10 days ago then let the ground freeze-up a little. We had some-25*F nights so I figured it would be hard as heck but I still have to be careful to not roll up dirt with the trees. We will start with a heavy disk this summer and burn the windrows as they dry. My D65 is a bit small for this type of work but It gets done. OROPS are cold.

This method seems to give the cleanest finished product with the least amount of dirt in the piles. How do you other northern folk prefer to clear land?

The pics are poor but we all like to look.

977h engine performance problem

Hi
This 977 I have is being a problem, it has a d333 engine and runs smooth until revs are increased above about 1/2 throttle. I have been through the fuel system, replaced filter, cleaned out primary bowl and gauze, removed air filter, replaced injector nozzles, even tried fitting a high pressure electric fuel pump and also checking the turbo bearings, but the engine still is breaking down under high fuel demand situations. Running out of ideas. Running out of patience. If anyone can help that would be great.
