Hi guys,
I have a 2010 JD 319d. It has been throwing codes 94.18 and 94.04 which are low fuel pressure codes. Once one of those codes come up it will start to derate the machine. If I pull of the sensor (by the fuel separator) the engine will not derate. I changed the inline filter and the water separator but has not fixed the problem. I also replaced the sensor. If you run it without the sensor on it will run fine until you are running at high rpms, then it slowly drop rpm until you...

The drum and clutch discs were changed at the same. It only ran about 6 hours since the repair. Any ideas what could be the issue? Im thinking maybe bevel gear shaft bearings or pinion bearings. So im looking for a hyd coupler valve to replace on our fleet.
We have older JD equipment and the dealer is no help. They want to sell us a complete install kit.
The ones we have are mounted on the stick above the bucket cyl and use oil from that to run the coupler when the switch is activated. I dont like that arrangement.

Does anyone know how accurate or how user friendly Cat's Onboard Payload Scaling Technology is on Motor Scrapers?
Would the operator need to stay in place for 30 seconds to get an accurate settled weight? Or is it truly scaling on the go?
Interesting to know if a contractor can take those weights to the bank, and how the system works to gain an accurate payload if the load is shifted towards the front or back of the bowl?
Or is it actually inaccurate, and just a marketing ploy?

Hi guys, so I have noticed that the auxiliary hose on my mini has a hydraulic fluid leak. It's been parked for the winter and soon will go into action. Am I correct in assuming that hydraulic lines are linked and this has to be changed or I will lose all my fluid?

I've got a CX130D with a Strickland hydraulic thumb. Since the thumb was installed new it has bled off while using the bucket unless pinned. When fully retracted it will drop about a foot within 5-6 buckets. I'm constantly having to bump it back up. Hello all. Went to check the oil on my Super k turbo and the oil on the oil pan dipstick was green. I smelled the oil on the dipstick and couldn't detect any diesel smell to it. I wondered IF it was antifreeze in the oil but the hoe isn't making any smoke and there is no sign of any milky look to the oil. Is it possible anyone can tell me what I have taken a picture of on my Hitachi EX60URG.
It is located just in front of the air-filter, on the start of the pipe that takes the air to the engine. It has (or in this case:
should have) two cables connected to it. One cable has snapped of a while ago, and the other snapped of when I was

I was doing some excavating yesterday (hot, around 90 degrees) when my 955K suddenly starting running real rough (was making some knocking noises and seemed to be missing) and lost power. Oil pressure was good and water temp was around 220, so I started to head back to the barn. Within a few seconds it lost power. Need to replace some parts in the cable speed control. If I turn the handle a bit to far it flips over inside. Not a great explanation but just need to replace some parts. I can just barely get it to shut down if its held just in the right spot to shut off the fuel. Have adjusted the cable to get some higher rpms and shut down.

I know the military is notorious for changing out hour meters but I believe it is close if not right. Anyhow I have been changing out all fluids. My 97 International 4700 needs either a new fuel tank or the original one welded up. Figuring its a steel tank and diesel, I could weld it, because it shouldn't blow up from doing so. Its the D style tank and it has a very slow seep leak under the step area.

Gearing up for side work

Since I work 1 week on 1 week off wrenching I'm looking at getting some small side jobs on my time off. I'm looking to do it legitimately (ie no cash under the table).

So aside from registering a company, what will I need to do? Insurance seems like a smart idea. What about WCB? Will I need to pay into that as well even though I plan on being the only employee?

I'll likely be based out of Alberta but may try and pick up some work out of the province as well.

Just thought I would share a picture of my latest project, its a 1990 Belarus (Kirovet) 7011. I acquired it from an older gentleman in Southern Alberta. Surprisingly good shape and low hours (Around 1800)

I recently purchased an older 753 serial# 508615824 The engine has only 1080h on it, but the machine was sitting for quiet a while. So I serviced everything, replaced hoses, the whole tlc. View attachment 180094 I ordered a set of Mclaren solid tires for my 310SL. When they arrived they looked rather small so I got out the measuring tape. The Diameter was approx 6" smaller than my original tires. I ended up taking to their tech support they reassured me that they sell this size to everyone with 12.5-80/18. Reason being that air tires squat more that solid when you apply a load.

6" is to much difference for me, and I feel like it would put to much stress on the...

Hi everyone!

So after working successfully for almost a whole week after the reverser issues were resolved, something else started making loud horrible clanking noise and I had to turn it off.

Mechanic dude was able to ascertain pretty quickly that the splined shaft driving the hydraulic pump was stripped and that's the source of the noise, no broken rods or seizing pistons so no worries there. Not a big problem to fix that part at least.

But... he disassembled the pump to get the axle...

Low Battery Genie TMZ30/50 Towable Boom Lift

I have a Genie TMZ 30/50m (I believe its a 1999) It has updated boards.
It is having an issue where I will try and lower the out riggers and it starts to lower them for about three seconds and then it cuts out and goes to low batteries. I have tried to charge the current batteries and I have also dropped brand new batteries in and it does the same thing. It will allow me to retract the outriggers just fine and acts as if there is no battery issue. I am wondering if there is something else...

Need help-trying to remove hydraulic pump from 580sl

Didn't know if I needed to start a new thread or not. I am trying to remove the hydraulic pump form a 580sl. According to the service manual it should slide out. It's not. I've tried tapping the sides with a hammer. Separating it at the flange with a chisel and wedging a crowbar at different angles to loosen it up. I loosened the bolts on the coupler too. Any tips would be appreciated.

Hello! I'm trying to repair a L553 skid steer. The bucket and the boom doesn't moves. I checked all of the wires at the module, and seems ok. When I activate the seat switch, the leds timer and seat turns on, then I activate the seat belt swich, the led of the belt also turns on. But the machine doesn't starts, only stars on service mode. I has changed the module and the the problem persist... Any idea?? I'm coming crazy...

I am purchasing a '78 Cat 920 loader that has been sitting for 7-8 years. Its a 62K 9xxx serial number. It has a 3304PC engine in it. It comes with the famous story of "ran good when parked". The engine is now seized up. I'm sure there are no miracle cures, and it should just be bought with the thinking of doing an out of frame rebuild? Is this the approach you would take? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

2009 kobelco SK 170 with Iveco 4 cylinder engine.

Cant find any info in manual. The darn bosch fuel injector has went out. Just need to know how to time pump. Its geared from flywheel end. I have not looked at engine yet.
Local mechanic diagnosed pump being shot. He doesnt have time to help me as hes going out of town for some time. Im just a shade tree mechanic but i have taken several pumps out before on cummins engines but they all had the push in timing pins. How do i time this one?? Thanks

Hi All,

I am new to heavy equipment and am breathing life into a 580B that has sat idle for years. I have been lurking on this site and the info has been very helpful and it is responding to treatment (grease / fluids).

I suspect that the ignition timing may be off (too retarded) and I would like to put a strobe on the engine to get the advance timing right. I have looked in the manuals and here but have drawn a blank on finding the timing marks.

580ck backhoe control hoses replacement

Hello everyone,
How do I go about removing these four hoses in the pictures that run from the control valve hard pipes to the backhoe swing tower? I have a crowsfoot wrench but there doesn't seem to be any clearance, especially on the end thats under the swing tower. I've thought about cutting the hoses and using a socket, but I don't think a cutoff tool or grinder can get close enough to allow a socket to fit. Even if that was to work, I would still be stuck with needing a way to tighten...

Trying to hunt down a part number for the bottom rollers on a early 90's Mitsubishi, MX55, excavator. 6 out of my 10 rollers are shot. I've ordered 2 manuals, and so far, no part number. Does anyone know if there is another roller that works with this machine? All I can find, is a CAT 303.5, is supposed to be the same machine, but the rollers mount differently. I have a couple JLG 400CRT rough terrain scissor lifts. One of them will not throttle up with you activate the movement functions like it is supposed to. It does all the functions, just at an idle.

I have a 1984 JD 410. I bought it about a year ago for a homebuilding project. Engine hours are unknown. I was able to use it all last summer and into the fall. It would not start without a shot of ether when the temperature dropped below 30 degrees. This winter, I would go out to the land every two weeks or so and run the block heater, give it a little ether and start it. I would run it long enough to get it up to operating temperature. About six weeks ago, it would no longer start....

Hello all, I've got a 1978 CAT 130G 9Y series grader with the 3304 engine that will not shift into either forward or reverse at any speed. Main Hydraulics work fine. So far I have checked:
Transmission Oil - Full
Transmission Filter - Replaced
Transmission pump pressure - low 250 PSI, added another spacer to relief valve group, now 300 psi
Shift cable - connected at both ends
Manual Modulation Cable - connected at both ends
Forward/Reverse Cable - connected at both ends

Any ideas you have...

Hello all. Went to check the oil on my Super k turbo and the oil on the oil pan dipstick was green. I smelled the oil on the dipstick and couldn't detect any diesel smell to it. I wondered IF it was antifreeze in the oil but the hoe isn't making any smoke and there is no sign of any milky look to the oil. I haven't changed the oil and oil filter yet, that will be done in the next week or so. Anybody have any ideas of what this might be, what I need to check and how to fix it? I sure...

I am getting codes e9521 And e9602 And the machine reduces power and goes into a limp mode. I was an idiot and ran my backhoe/FEL out of fuel the other day. I believe I now have air in the line preventing the machine from starting.

I've come across a few videos online but I'm still not sure how to purge/bleed the line. Can someone explain how I should or can proceed to get the air out? From my limited understanding I believe I can use vacuum to pull fuel out through the return line. I have available a hand vacuum pump from a brake bleeder kit and also a 7 cfm A/C vacuum pump....

Yale transmission not working

I'm helping an older gent around his shop and he asked me to look at an older forklift. It looks to be an early 70's model with a flathead 6 and a combination of clutch and fluid /torque convertor. The problem is that I can't disengage the clutch to shift any gears. I have checked to see that the friction plate is not stuck to the flywheel, the clutch linkage moves freely. I tried adjusting the clutch through the range of adjustment. Am I looking at the fluid coupler now ? Thanks Wayne

Roof Interior Panels; Recessed inserts

I am adding a used Pioneer Radio with some speakers just to add entertainment. But while adding new headliner to my cab, I realized I need a couple of small recessed panels (please see pic).
The panels are 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 1"D. The keep the window latch from hitting the roof when the rear window is swung up and open.

Any ideas where to get these, or something like it?

I have a Genie TMZ 30/50m (I believe its a 1999) It has updated boards.
It is having an issue where I will try and lower the out riggers and it starts to lower them for about three seconds and then it cuts out and goes to low batteries. I have tried to charge the current batteries and I have also dropped brand new batteries in and it does the same thing. I have always ran either a 1" Honda or a 2" Honda trash pump for my dewatering needs but my 2" pump has been getting harder to prime every time I need it. CAT 3114T Engine 80 HP year 1989 wants to stall after engine starts

Wondering if anyone here has ideas of what would cause the CAT 3114T engine to want to stall .
Engine is in CAT wheel loader.
I start the engine let it warm up a few minutes then put transmission into forward 1st gear, with in 50 feet the engine bogs down as if it was going to stall.
The engine can run for one hour and some times it will do this again in either 1st or 2nd gear.
Oil samples show nothing wrong with engine, just turned over to 7,000 hours.

At 1200RPM it pumps out about 4 OZ in 20 minutes.
Some times it sounds like it is misfiring a little. The exhaust is smooth and the manifold temps are fairly equal? Valve train or injector?

Thinking of pulling the trigger on an AC recovery/recycling machine for use in the shop and mobile. Is there any issue hauling one around? Do you have to remove the recovery tank? Any issues with the scale calibration?

When I rev the engine to 3/4 throttle the pressure will jump to 2200psi but remains at zero on the low pressure side. If I lower the rpms to about half throttle pressure drops to zero. Looking for some assistance in diagnosing this issue. I'll be honest, not too sure where to start, but here's some background info.

The steering gear locks up when trying to turn.Drag link doesn't move at all. Raise the front end and jerk the steering wheel and it might come loose.It has power steering and the pump is disconnected because of a leak.We we're told the farm tractor and this one has the same steering gear.Got a used one and the steering is opposite.,turn left and wheels go right.Can't find serial number on tractor.Any information about these would be great.Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if it matters which way the black quadrings go on a 743 bobcat spool valve. The control valve is a 4 spool. If it matters does anyone know which way? I still can't get my machine to track properly. When I check a1 and a2 they don't have but about 200psi when travel valves are moved (cable operated). Left travel works sometimes and I get pressure increase at pump. If I hold the right pedal down after a while it will kick in at full speed and I get pressure increase at pump. Hi all I have a 1984 John Deere 310B backhoe. I just purchased this machine and figured I would change the hydraulic fluid, hydraulic filter, transmission filter and hydraulic sump screen. This machine ran just fine with great responce and cycle times. I drained about 8 gallons of fluid from the machine and the specs say it holds around 20 gallons so I figured I would increase the filter changes if I noticed oil problems. I was able to get the injector pump off the Case 530CK. But I have something wrong

• Valves on front cylinder are closed.
• I see the marks on the clutch or whatever it is
• Injector pump shaft sitting at 11 and 5 o'clock with dot at 11
• I see both marks in injector pump window away from engine
• Dot inside injector pump is at 5 o'clock position.

If I turn it to the 11 o'clock position, the marks will align inside the pump window toward the engine. But...

Jump Starting Equipment

This probably doesn't fit here but not sure where else to ask. I used my 100 hp Kubota tractor to jump a Case skid Steer off a few weeks ago. The skid started and the tractor stayed running everything seemed normal. Several days later I went to use tractor and it wouldn't start. To make a long story short the shop says boosting the skid fried the Engine Side ECU on the tractor. Has anyone seen this issue on equipment? Both were 12v systems.
