Caterpillar Excavator Buckets (D linkage and DB linkage 330c,330d)

dimanche 30 avril 2017

I am in search of attachments for 330cl excavators, D linkage. It seems the DB linkage on the newer 330 d's and possibly 336's have a 10mm larger pin diameter but similar bucket ear dimensions.

Has anyone ever tried weld boring db linkage buckets to fit the old d linkage?

Ultimately what I need is some good CAT d linkage attachments if any available for sale.

Highway log trucks.

I was thinking the other day we need a thread for people to show off some highway legal log trucks. Don't get me wrong, I love the off-road hauler threads. Those old beasts are just awesome.
Anyway, fourm member Jdigger4130 sent me these to post. Some nice looking trucks. I need to dig deep and see if I can find the few I have.

Fatal Dozer Accident

There was a fatal dozer accident in RedHook NY yesterday, about 35 minutes north of me. The report is a little vague, I'll try to get more details and post. Below is a link to the article:

Need Advice! Is a track steer a good option for my needs?

Hey all,

So I have 30 acres of land to clear. It is mostly overgrown brush and lots of cedar trees and saplings. I'd like to clear the brush and the cedars and pile everything for burning. The land is mostly flat with half having a small grade.

I know a dozer is the best option, but I'm inexperienced at using heavy equipment and feel a little intimidated at using a dozer. The other options are a track steer, excavator (which is out of my price range) or hiring it done which I don't want to...

Sauer danfoss 40 series m46 tandem drive pump

Danfoss m46 tandem hydrostatic drive pump off a 96 case 1845c. New oring kit swash plate rotating groups. The charge pressure is fine but I had a guy tell me there are othe parts in there that get wore out that would let fluid bypass. The problem I'm running into is when you engage into a load the tires don't spin out and the engine rpms don't die down it just runs as if nothing happened. Also I was looking at psi checks and it says on the top of that pump there are 4 ports and they are...

Fixing equalizer bar on d6h

New to the forum. We recently bought a d6h. We are putting in a new equalizer bar, the center pin and the right track frame have a bit of play. Maybe a little under a 1/8th inch in center pin, and a hair over that on the right track frame. We thought the best thing to do would be to have them line bored. Are there any other options?

The other question is we are located south of Kansas City. Was wondering if anyone would know a company that would do it around that area.
Thank you.

What Do You Think of A Kubota KX121-3?

I'm wanting to buy a mini excavator for just personal use right now but may try to find some paid work for it later down the road. I need to put in some drainage, clean out some ditches, dig out several stumps and would like to buy a mower attachment for cutting limbs and brush back around my fields. I have very little experience with excavators but I was wanting something that I can transport OK with a 3/4 ton pick up and my equipment trailer. As far as specs go I've been really...

Old dozers for farm

Been looking ever since shut down on the 16B Allis that thank goodness is gone to someone else. I looked into the D7E at Lebanon MO, even made a call as to price negotiable where told no. No chance for inspection either unless put money down which is NOT gonna happen. Could not get a straight answer as to maintenance records, nor would the seller(supposedly NOT the owner) get a s/n for back chasing and checking pedigree. $20,000 seems a lot for a pig in a poke. Greetings all!

My name is Nick, and am currently waiting/studying for my OE Apprenticeship test in a few weeks. I have been doing a lot of searching to try and sponge up as much info as possible to be well prepared for the test and future interview. I did a quick forums search to see if any up to date info was covered regarding the Local #3 JATC and only found a short thread dated from 2013. Zacklift

I have been looking at putting together a tow unit for the trucking company I work for. And I think the
best way to go is build a truck with a Z353 Zacklift with 25,000 lb stiff legs and a 30,000 lb drag winch.
Looking at a 2000 379 Pete with a 450 hp Series 60 and 10spd with 3:55's. I will stretch it to 300 WB.
And just install some tool boxes and tandem fenders. Sort of like this one. But it will be a permanent
mounted lift.

Komatsu Dozer D 21 No power to left track ?

Hello, While unloading my D-21 I heard a bang on the left. Problem, I have no power to the left track, the right track is ok.
Can anyone give me an idea as to what could have broke ? Everything else works as it should. I would really appreciate

6 Ton (ish) excavator choices

I'm starting to look around for a 6 ton (ish) mini/mid size excavator. There seems to be a lot of 5 and 5.5 ton machine from the different manufacturers, however, once you get to the 6 to 6.5 ton mark, the choices seem to be pretty limited. I currently run a JD50C, which has been a pretty good machine. It's a bit slow, but very reliable. The main goals I hope to accomplish by getting into a 6 ton machine (with a long stick) as oppose to to 5 or 5.5 ton are as follows longer reach, better...

I have some work to be done on my farm, 35 acres that I have owned and have lived on for more than 40 years. I need to clean out a 1 ½ acre lake that has accumulated about three to four foot of silt after 25 years. It does have a solid rock bottom under all of that silt. I also need to do some spillway work. I have roads to repair and culverts to install. I need to ditch the upper side of some of the roads. 3306 top end noise

I was running the 973 building a lake when it started missing and had real low power. Took my ear muffs off and it has a real hard rattle in the top end. Slowly backed it out of the cut to get it out of the way and by the time I shut it off it was really banging and starting to blow out the dip stick. I'm guessing a piston came apart, it has no water in the oil so it's contained.

It started a weird vibration several weeks ago and we thought the harmonic balancer had slipped. I'm guessing...

Looking for a bit of info, my 115 (ser #yy03-05227) needed new belts which I just installed, in doing that I noticed that the fan was a bit "wiggly" so I believe it's time to replace the water pump, it is not leaking but I don't need it to launch itself through the radiator when it finally has had enough. 1952 Caterpillar D4 clutch issues

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has a 1952 Cat D4. He was moving some bolders around his yard with it and the dozer was doing just fine. His son got on the thing and the next thing my friend knew is that the dozer wasn't moving very well. It would roll along on flat ground, but as soon as he tried to push anything it would feel like the clutch is slipping. He pulled the plate off and his brother had tried to adjust a linkage inside to put more pressure on the clutch. However, we realized...

580C right brake hangs up, but releases when left brake applied

Working on a 580C, when put in gear (forward/reverse it doesn't matter) the left wheel will turn freely and the right will be stopped, if you press the far left pedal, the right wheel starts spinning and the left wheel locks up. Tried to apply the brake pedal only halfway to see if both would be released but that didn't work, I was just curious.

SO my question is what do they have in common that would cause this? I am thinking something went out or is hanging up in a master cylinder...

Machine was running fine, started it the next morning and let it warm up, went to move the machine and nothing, won't go forward or backward.

whats the best quick attach for a hammer/bucket

I operate a 350G with a GH18 npk (8500lb) hammer , the hammer is attached 95% of the time but a job has come up where a bucket is necessary. Its a pretty isolated area and I'll likely be switching attachments alone , the Salesman is pushing a manual pin grabber style but I'm saying that sliding that 75lb pin in and out will be a pain especially this winter. I was pushing the wedge style coupler but am open to suggestions. Hydraulic pin grabber is out of the question

ASV and CAT 7 series BAIR axle experience

Last year I installed Bair axle and wheel assemblies on my ASV RC100. This week I did a 250 hour service which includes greasing the axle assemblies. The easiest way is to put the machine on a flat bed trailer with an operator you trust to move the machine. Of the four idler axles three had the circular grease fitting guard deformed to the point that a grease gun fitting would not go on. The point is that the guards need to be a thicker wall for better protection. I am thinking 1" schedule...

Shoring for a sewer tie in

Always wondered how I get from the classroom or the catalog to work on an existing pipe while using trench shoring. Now I get to know: have to go 7' down at the street shoulder to install a sewer lateral. The existing pipe (as observed in the manhole at the next intersection) is 8" clay. Locator says it is 6 to 8 feet down; manhole tape measuring and logical eyeballing indicates just shy of 7'. Soil is a sandy loam but low on the clay; yes, a hand dug hole will stand 5' deep.

Just brought home a 99 New Holland 555e 4x4 with 2800hrs, clamshell loader and 24/36" buckets. Everything works except parking brake. Previous owner just put on new frt tires and had all fluids changed at 2500.00. He also redid most of the cylinders. One stabilizer has a light leak. I paid 15k for it and feel like I did pretty good. Let me know what you think about the price, model and any experiences with this particular machine. Picks soon

Thanks, Daniel

1996 case 1845c drive problem

Runs good with no problems but then when everything gets hot after an hour or so then when you are into a load it won't break loose.
You can keep pushing the levers forward and there's no drive power and the tires won't break loose almost like the hydraulics bypass. If you play around with the bucket functions up/down and tilting you can regain the power and the tires will then begin to dig In and spin. The pump is completely rebuilt with rotating groups, orings, swashplate, etc. And drive...

A few projects I have done recently

Thought I would post some pics and commentary on some jobs I have done recently.

This project was an interesting one. A frozen food processing facility was installing a new cooler. Problem was the building had a high water table underneath the slab where the new cooler was going. Our job was to excavate 22" of very sticky, very wet clay and replace with woven geotextile fabric and #57 stone to separate the water from the -10 F degree cooler that would sitting on top of it. The...

Wearing the paint off the bucket

Finished rebuilding the bucket last fall & hardly any snow this past winter, so the old 941 that I purchased the year before sat practically all winter. Today I was able to rough out a pile of fill left from a driveway dig out that was done this past winter in the back yard. We are in an area of really heavy clay, so it is very slow to dry out in the spring. If we don't get rain for a few days, I can go over it again to touch it up. The old machine runs real good for its age.

Truck has 300,000 miles on it. It uses 1 to 1.5 gallons of oil every 200 miles. No smoke. I use Rotella 15W40 oil.

I have tried the following:

1. Checked fuel for oil, there was none.
2. Checked coolant for oil, there was none.
3. Checked turbo for oil and fan movement, no oil and fan ok.
4. Checked vacuum line from air filter to air compressor, line clear.
5. Changed oil and put Lucas oil treatment in as directed.
6. Changed air filter. Drove the truck about 70 miles...

Over weight fees

After I put the 1400 lb. counterweight on the National, my first trip through the local Port of Entry on I-15 went smoothly. No red light, no dreaded message on the digital board they have "park, bring papers inside." So I of course figured I was good to go. Then on about the 12 th. time through, maybe 4 months later, I get the "c'mon in" sign. Turns out my rear axle is over, just enough......so now they have me paying 16 cents a mile plus $256.00 annually.

My question is, what about...

Working the National 1300A

A farmer called me this fall, he and his brother had a grain silo they were erecting and they needed a little help. The job site was in a valley a couple ranges to the east from my place, about a 45 minutes drive. The brothers were real sharp in knowing what the silo weighed, and how close I could get, but after looking at my load chart I determined I better run out there first and eyeball the project. I told them I'd "stop by" in the next day or so, and left it at that.

Removing engine oil from Coolant?

Hi all. I know there's a thread somewhere about removing oil from coolant, but for the life of me I can't find it.

My problem is I found engine oil in the radiator of one of our tractors prepping it for winter. Pulled the radiator and had it leak checked and they found a leak in the engine oil cooler once it got warm and under pressure. I pulled the T-stat and purged the remaining coolant from the block with air and saw only clean coolant, no oil.

I plan fill with water and flush again...

06 CAT 277B restoration

Ended up selling my old 74 case 350 crawler loader for this gem. Didnt quite get a super awesome deal, but there was just enough meat on the bone to seal the deal. (12k)

Engine runs, everything works except the high speed track option, it needs a new track, and the engine puffs and misses a little at high rpm-no load; but clears up when actually doing work.

Did I mention the pilot valves are leaking? oh what fun.

Turns out it does have a VE pump, please dont scare me <3...

Just picked up a bobcat 331g. 04 with 2000 hrs. Is there anything in particular to look for with this machine? Only issues I can find are one minor hose weep, 2 speed switch doesn't work, and blower doesn't switch to heat. A.c. works but won't switch to heat. Any insight?

Hi all,

My brother has got a job in a construction company. He is joining in the coming month. I’m so happy for him, as it was his aim to get a job in a construction company. He had been struggling since 1 year for the job.

Cat 277b died

mardi 25 avril 2017

I just picked up a 2005 Cat 277b yesterday. Today I took it off the trailer and tried moving a small pile of dirt. It died with the arms up and bucket in full dump just off the ground. I turned the key off and on, and got nothing. Tried moving every lever, pushing every button and switch. Nothing happens. Had to pull out the back window and crawl out. Acted like the battery was disconnected. I checked the battery and main breaker, have power through the breaker. That is as far as I got. I...

D6T Hydraulic Filter Restriction

Hello,

I've got a 2008 Cat D6T (LAY765) I use on my farm. It runs great, but lately there have been a couple alert indicators illuminated on the dash that worry me. I included the link to the picture of the alerts on the dash below. According to my research, the two alerts are for the following:

1. Hydraulic Filter Restriction -- This alert indicator is illuminated when the hydraulic oil filter is bypassed.

I hooked on to our landlord's Duplex Mfg. "hydraulic scoop" with my little Ford tractor. I know it hadn't moved in the 25 years we have farmed for him. Surprisingly, the tires took air and hold! Komatsu PC400-5: Cheap parts? What to watch for on this model?

Just got an old PC400-5 with around 4000 hrs on it. First excavator purchase. Mostly going to be used on the ranch for putting in some new roads, laying some irrigation pipe and digging some ponds.

Need some various parts like replacing a couple of the grease lines (they apparently broke and were bypassed with direct zerks but now very inconvenient to reach the zerks). Can I use some sort of generic grease tubes, or do I have to pay big dealer prices, or are there good sites to buy...

Tree pushers.

Yair...as I posted on another thread it seems that few 'dozers in the U.S. are fitted with tree-pushers. Why would that be?

They are standard equipment on many general contracting tractors over here...in fact in a lot of areas without one you would'nt get a job. A farmer won't stand for digging around little eighteen inch trees when you're clearing a damsite.

They are much easier on the tractor too of course.

Any theories?

Hammer to Thumb Auxiliary - Bobcat 325

I acquired a neighbors ’98 Bobcat 325 Mini-X over a year ago. Everything works perfectly. So last week, I finally purchased and installed a thumb I’ve been wanting. I pressed the left foot pedal and the thumb goes one direction. I can press the pedal the other direction and pressure is released from the line (so I can push it back with the bucket [or use gravity]). This is the older Bobcat, with no visible electronic/hand switch. I tried moving the lever by the left ankle (believe this...

Old Yanmar

Hi, I have an old Yanmar YB-201. I'm looking for a service manual but can't find one anywhere, it's almost like the machine never existed. So my next effort is to obtain a service manual for a similar machine in the hope it will be some use to this novice.
Can a Yanmer guru assist is advising a Yanmar (or alternative brand) mini excavator which would be similar enough to the YB201 that a service manual for that machine would be useful.

Cat 246 Skidsteer Year?

We just purchased this used Cat 246 skidsteer, just to be used for cleanup work & shuttling our paint wagon in & out of the paint shop & I wanted to ask if anyone has access to identifying the year of this unit from the ser #?

Also, the ser # tag seems to indicate it may be a "C" model, as a C follows the model number?

The ser # is CAT00246C5SZ07730. We bought this unit very reasonably priced in an "as is" condition.

Oil seeping from exhaust

Hi all. As the title states, I've got an oil seepage issue on an engine. I say seepage because it's not leak per se, but I still have oil where I shouldn't. Engine in question is a turbo'd 6 cylinder 401ci in a Ford 9700 ag tractor, the same I had oil cooler issues with in another post.

While running, I have oil seeping out of where the turbo bolts onto the exhaust manifold. I say seeping because it takes 20 minutes for it to form a trickle and it is barely visible until then. I also have...

Wet blade Herbicide treatment systems?

We have an opportunity to bid on a tender for mowing power line right of ways. The method required for the job is called 'wet blading' where by a heavy duty type mower is mounted on one or both of our excavators. I contacted them recently and they kinda rudely replied No with no explanation as to why. Are there any other manufacturers here or does anybody...

Roadway dust control

So working with a modest budget, the goal was to be able to put some water on the roadway, better part of a mile of pretty heavily traveled road and parking lot, dust is sometimes a problem. With a little napkin R&D, some wood blocks and four IBC tanks, we came up with a nice solution. 4 tanks in the dump truck, 1100+ gallons, all gravity and a discharge rate of 60gpm, easily installed and removed in 15 minutes or so. It really looks like chutes and ladders but it does work pretty well...

What width buckets made for JD350D or G?

I am doing some equipment swapping and one of the casualties is that I am probably going to lose the narrow (18 inch? or maybe it is 24 inch) bucket for my 210 class excavators. This is what I have been cutting roots and getting big trees down with on right-of-way clearing.

This is not a brand new customer, but I have done a few jobs for him over the last 2 years, and I usually have to hunt him down at 60 days to get my money. The customer is not someone I do a lot of work for, so burning this bridge with him at this point isn't really a concern.
