Cat 955L

I have a 1969 955K and it's about to grenade the left side final drive. Long story, short, it's too expensive to fix based on the age and condition of the machine.

I am looking at a 1978 955L. I was plan on keeping the K for parts. I was told a lot of the parts are interchangeable. Is this true?
