CAT D4H WON'T MOVE

Hi, I recently purchased an 89 cat d4h and am new to heavy equipment besides farm tractors. The guy that I bought it from said that the transmission had been rebuild about 3 yrs ago/less than 100hrs ago. S/N 8PB03682. He wasn't a believer in maintenance and it sat for about a year, so i changed oil and all filters on the machine and pb blasted all linkages. I had worked it 1 day, and the next day I was cutting in a driveway when i heard a pop, not real loud, just sounded like it popped...

Bobcat Skidsteer 953 Bucket Won't Lower

mardi 26 juin 2018

We bought a used Bobcat Skidsteer 953 that was leaking hydraulic fluid and the tilt wasn't holding. Took to a mechanic, who said the tilt valve was bad. Replaced the tilt valve, and the leak stopped but the tilt still didn't work. Rebuilt the hydraulic cylinders and everything worked on the drive around. Went to pick it up the next day and the bucket went up but would not lower, and there it sits.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Engine speed/governor handle tension set D4H

Ok more questions guys. How can i tighten up the engine speed/governor handle tension? it seems loose and will not stay put. Its like you have three speeds... idle, a little higher idle then all the way back for wot? No tension on it to keep it like half way....or is it designed like that?? Decelerator peddle works to slow RPS down...but you have to push quite a bit. The handle just seems to have alot of slop in it. Yes its tight on the shaft.

Rolling cutter for excavator - 1/2 thick steel

Have 100 ft. long sheets of 1/4 to 3/8 possibly up to 1/2 inch thick galvanized steel material to cut. Is there some sort of rolling sheer with cutter wheels or nibler that is made to put on a 30,000 to 70,000 lbs machine that could cut this into 40 ft. lengths for semi trailer to haul?

Need to dig some 2 ft. wide by 20 ft. deep piling holes. Would like to use my 290G Deere. Who makes augers to clip on the excavator. Or do I have to use a drill when going that deep? Guessing I have to take the arm off to run this attachment and lift the bit out when full of dirt every 3-5 deep deep? Digga is the only one I'm finding. Like to rent it for 2-3 days kinda deal.

How to flush engine that has milked the oil (headgasket) Cat 262B

Hi everyone just working on a 262B that has a blown head gasket. Any thoughts on restoring the engine oil back to normal other than just flushing with fresh oil. Eng has about 7000hrs and I'm having the head checked/ rebuilt. Crankcase is a mess of goop. Had thought to do an oil sample to confirm bearings aren't on a road to rapid failure after doing a couple flushes at least.

Thanks!

D5mxl blade lift issues

I had a new pump put on my D5mxl as the blade was not wanting to lift unless you messed with angle and tilt. When blade did come up and you set it back on ground for a minute it would do the same exact thing. We put new cat pump on and all worked well ,ran it about 3 hours then shut down for three days .Started it up on Monday and blade would not raise? Angle and tilt were slow to respond then pretty much quit working? Not sure were to start checking? Oil is up ,filters are new, no leaks?

A customer has contacted me about brakes dragging on a D6T S#WHF00364. I know NOTHING about these. From the sounds of what they are saying it may be leakage or a flow problem. Works great for a hour or 2 in the morning, then they start dragging the machine down. SO...…..Ive got my thinking cap on and ready to learn.
No active codes that Im aware of. I wont be seeing this machine for a few days so I have a bit of time to study.

Low Hydraulic Power John Deere 160LC

Machine is a 2004 John Deere 160LC. Was operating the machine when I lost 90% of my hydraulic power. Then when I traveled it to a spot to work on it I ended up losing 100% of the power. This is for all functions. Pulled main filter and replaced it. Old filter was still perfectly clean.

Let machine sit for 24 hours went back and had 50% power for about 3 minutes then lost it all again. No visible hydraulic leaks. Fluid level is still good. Any ideas?

Caterpillar SIS. Tricks and tips, questions and answers.

OK, just to get the ball rolling;

Q. What is SIS.
A. Caterpillar's online Service Information System.

Q. Can I see it?
A. Yes, if you have an account with a Cat dealer.

Q. What information can I see?
A. It depends on your access level. A basic parts store customer can look up parts only. A subscription customer can see most documentation relating to operation and maintenance, disassembly and assembly, and the Numerical Parts Record (NPR). Dealer employees also get access to service...

Just bought a Deere 333E

After testing several out, mostly Takeuchi's (really wanted a TL10 cab, just too much money), I just pulled the trigger on a JD 333E ROPS with 2600 hours. First CTL. Traded in a 20 year old Ford backhoe that was just too awkward for most of what I do. Anyway, the only real issue I could find, was the sprockets look worn to me. Tracks look good, and since I assume you usually go through a couple sets of tracks before changing the sprockets, that I can replace the sprockets alone. They...

I just bought a Takeuchi TL26. Its got about 3300 hours on it. I bought it sight unseen and had it shipped from Georgia to PA. I paid $5000 for it. It runs great and I love having a track machine. I had a Case 1845c prior to this. I do have a few questions. Where can I find a repair manaul at? I want to change the oil and filter. Is there a filter for the hydraulic fluid? Bobcat T300 w/Bradco mulcher

Hi,

I’m trying to figure out why the door on the front of the mulcher doesn’t work properly..

The switches on left side don’t seem to do anything.

When I release the pressure on the quick connect by hand and lower the door manually it raises again whenever I move the left foot pedal?!

I have the service and repair manual but I’m not seeing secondary auxiliary low flow in there anywhere.

Good morning guys, new to the forum. I am having a problem with my old dresser dozer. It seems my hydraulic reservoir leaks all of its oil into my rear drive tank. In Dec 2012 I bought a new, custom ordered from the factory, L220 SSL. I chose this brand/model as the "best" for my purposes in the 60 hp class after a hard look & try out of units from Cat, John Deere, Volvo/JCB, & Case. Because of my intended uses on my property's turf & woods, often on wet areas with clay/underneath, I chose to put Camoplast rubber over-the-tire tracks (OTT) with the Life Master tread over standard pneumatic 10x16.5 tires. I would have preferred 12x16.5 tires, but...

Cat 920 that has been sitting

I am purchasing a '78 Cat 920 loader that has been sitting for 7-8 years. Its a 62K 9xxx serial number. It has a 3304PC engine in it. It comes with the famous story of "ran good when parked". The engine is now seized up. I'm sure there are no miracle cures, and it should just be bought with the thinking of doing an out of frame rebuild? Is this the approach you would take? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

JLG 40E stuck in slow motion mode

I would like to hear some ideas about the ideal waste handler or landfill compactir and why would you choose that. Would you use a LGP dozer with no WH blade and why? The idea is to hear something different than Cat. In particular to hear opinion about Dressta , Liebherr or even Case and Shantui that do not have WH model.

My father has a 530 and it died the either day and wouldn't start and they jumped it on the starter and got it started and then it would only go in reverse. Now it will start with key but will not still go in forward but works in reverse. We don't have a fuse relay diagram or a wiring diagram so hardly know where to head in at. Relays do click when shifting into forwards but can't tell which one or ones.

Upside Down Spin On Filter Changing

How do you guys deal with changing upside down spin on filters? On old equipment where they did not think it necessary to drain back internally.

I have found that poking a hole in the side above the gasket area, and another one up high to vent it, makes it only run down one part of the engine instead of all over when you unthread it.

But I have been thinking it might be nice to have some kind of sharp hollow tap to direct it to a catch can that can be driven in. Maybe welding an anvil of...

Hyster H50XM transmission slippage

It's a 1994 model. Forklift just came back from the forklift mechanic but he is a Nissan guy, not use to working on Hysters. After new transmission oil and filter it now slips when trying to drive up a ramp when machine is cold but no longer slips when warmed up. Did not do that before fluid change. Could he have used the wrong oil to cause this. Some Hyster models use J20C spec Deere oil. Does anyone know if my H50XM uses the same oil?

case 850 loader engine

I have an old Case 850 track loader. Just a straight 850. 4 in 1 bucket. Ripper.
How do I know the exact year of the machine? Anywhere to look up serial number? Can’t seem to find a place online to look.

It has a good engine. Just hasn’t been cranked in years. Maybe 4-5k hours on it?
What specific engine does it have?
What else does it fit other than a loader?
Value?

Also, osha related injuries are attributed to steering clutch and shoulder arthritis etc.

A semi modern control is joystick(Hystat style) or fingertip steering.

For steering clutch:
Fingertip steering seems to me to be an electronic switch much like an electronic throttle control that sends a signal to a hydraulic actuator activated by a solenoid?...

Cat 225blc 3208 weird engine start issue fuel related

This machine is a caterpillar 225blc 2zd series machine.
It is not pretty good shape for its age.
We bought it in the 90d and it was owner operated by me or my dad ever since.
In the past 12-14 years we have rarely used it.
It just sits around our shop for a random load of dirt or to unload something.
It sat the last 2-3 years.
I went to crank it a few months back and it cranked fine. The next day it cranked, then slowly died as if the fuel filter was bad.
I changed filter, primed it...

D353 counter bore.

vendredi 15 juin 2018

So we're trying to sort out our d353 spacer plate deck. #4 cylinder deck is in terrible shape.
The bright side is it looks to have been cut and counter bore inserts installed on that cylinder and few other cylinders.
is there a standard for these? Or are they a custom job by who ever did it?
Also what would be a safe way to remove the insert?

I'll try to post a pic
But I've been having uploading to the site recently

Case 580B Swing Cylinder Kit Installation Question

The cylinder repair kit that I have is the one pictured below from HW. The kit was specifically listed for my cylinder, cyl.#G34881. The piece in question is the piece that I placed a red X on in the first picture. I found no place where that piece would fit? When I disassembled my cylinder I didn't find anything that resembled that piece. In the exploded view (second picture) that piece is nowhere to be found. AMZ66XT drive speed issue

I have a Groves AMZ 66XT Manlift that functions fine with the exception of the drive speed. It moves at about 1/5 of the speed that it should, in both forward and reverse. The machine Is hydraulic drive, with a drive motor for each wheel. I’ve jacked the unit off the ground and each wheel turns at about the same speed in both forward and reverse. It has a low and high speed setting. The wheels only move in high speed. While it seems strange, increasing the engine speed, actually slows down...

544J bucket drift

Have a 544J that when the bucket was full it would drift down. Checked the ram and no internal leaks. Switched the psi relief valve and all was fine.

Now 2 weeks later when curling or dumping the bucket it will travel at normal speed, but when the control handle is released the ram will continue the same direction at a slow speed. If you tap the control the other way you may get it to stop and hold but is tough to find the sweet spot. Acts like the spool does not want to center.

Hello guys. I have a 1974 Case 580B diesel with a wain roy clam shell bucket on the hoe. At some point someone had this bucket installed, it’s great, very usefull, only problem is it keeps drifting open. While digging etc I have to constantly keep closing the bucket. I’ve done a lot of repairs to the machine already for the year that I’ve had it and mostly because I have the service manual to follow. But this is an aftermarket set up so nothing in the manual for it. The piston in the bucket...

This is my Titan 36" weld on thumb install:

This did not come with instructions and I'm not saying this is the right way to install one but its how I did it and it seems to work okay.

First off my welding is limited by lack of skill and equipment. My welder at home is a Lincoln SP100 mig. I was doing this outside with a light breeze which isn't the best conditions. I turned the heat all the way up, set my wire feed at 4, and cranked the shielding gas up to 28 CFM. Each weld required 3...

200clc loss of power

Hey there, I have a 2005 Deere 200clc. As of lately it has been losing power to the point of stalling the motor while just operating the hydraulics, even with no load on them. The machine tons great for about the first five minutes until things warm up, then it's starts bogging down, running rough, and putting some odd smoke out the exhaust. So far I've been told that it's either the injection pump (standayne de10) or the computer off the machine. Neither part is cheap, just looking for some...

CAT 320C low hydraulic power, engine stalling

Hi, Guys!

I have been having a lot of trouble with a CAT 320C Excavator (S/N BDE00683) with 16 000 hours on the clock, which my boss just bought. The excavator is well serviced, engine looks and works well, but when under load, the engine revs go down very fast, it stalls and there is no hydraulic power. I can excavate only with the tip of the bucket. If I try deeper, it stalls. It also happens with every other movement.

So with the help of some topics in this forum and a lot of reading...

Odd fuel line identification

Hi, I have a 2007 L180 Skidsteer. While working on the fuel system this week I broke some tabs in the process of removing the fuel lines. All I had ever seen before was the hose and hose clamp. This thing has some sort of male plug with an o-ring. Do these have a common name so I can find the tool to make these hoses or are they proprietary and only available from New Holland? I have included a picture below. The system is up and running and I will try to use wre or zip ties somehow to keep...

Deere 290G boom shutter/jitter

Have a 2012 - 290G w 3,500 hours on it. The boom has a shutter/jitter most noticeably when pulling the control back, does it a few times when extending out. It almost seems like the house is loose to the carrier, not a hydraulic issue of sorts, or a bushing is out. All bushings seem good shape. How do you check the house to carrier/slew tolerance? Other thoughts? At times it will jar you out of the seat before you can get it stopped from jerking. Has the 12'4" arm if that matters and...

But blowby, never seen anything like it. (venting pipe comes from the side of the block, above crankshaft and exits under the engine)

I've been running a shop here in North Carolina. Started last year around November. Had some previous experience at another independent shop in the area for a little over a year. Terex ta27 getting air in fuel filter Cummins

Hello, after running my haul truck (cummins powered terex) for a few hours it starts trying to stall. I've figured out that when it does this the fuel filter is half empty or more and bleeding the air out of it gets it going again. Also the filter is very hot but it's In with hydraulic accumulator.
My guesses are either boiling the fuel, clugged pickup sock, or fitting letting air In between filter and tank...
Anyone have thoughts about this or how to diagnose?
Thanks
