Hitachi EX135UR-5 won't throttle up

I have a 2002 hitachi ex135ur-5 that won't throttle up. Worked fine then sat for a couple weeks and the problem started. The key will start the machine but has no effect from the on. It will only idle and they key will not shut it off. I have to use the manual emergency stop cable.
I have another identical machine that does run so I've been switching parts but no luck. I have checked all the fuses, switched relays around, changed the computer, the step motor, the alternator, the key...

takeuchi final drive oil? sae 90 equivalent?

last time i changed the final drive oil on my tl140, i believe i used 75w-90 gl5 mobil synthetic. when i went to drain this time, the old oil came out dark and very frothy and aerated. not milky or anything like that. just lot of small air bubbles.
the manual callls for sae 90 gl4 oil, which is hard to find. this time i put in valvoline 80w-90 gl5 gear oil. will that be ok?
the one thing i read online is that the newer gl5 gear oils can cause wear on yellow metals like bronze or brass....

Terex TS14B blower

Hey everyone! Just got a TS14b from an auction. Had some old Euclid S18s with 6110bs in them but never a little 471. The back engine won't shut off with the blower. You flip the lever and I can hear it close and motor slows down but chugs black smoke. It runs at a very low idle. Had to loosen fuel lines to get it off. Any ideas? Could it be a gasket in the box? Or do I need to go into it?

Zacklift

I have been looking at putting together a tow unit for the trucking company I work for. And I think the
best way to go is build a truck with a Z353 Zacklift with 25,000 lb stiff legs and a 30,000 lb drag winch.
Looking at a 2000 379 Pete with a 450 hp Series 60 and 10spd with 3:55's. I will stretch it to 300 WB.
And just install some tool boxes and tandem fenders. Sort of like this one. But it will be a permanent
mounted lift.

D6N LGP vs XL

Looking for some input from anyone with experience with these tractors D6N LGP or D6N XL? . Quite a bit of difference in the two machines when it comes to the blade. LGP has the 13.4 wide blade and sets out from the tractor quite a bit more for the longer tracks than the XLs 10.7 wide blade. I do farm work mostly clearing -ditch work- building pads -ponds exc. Needing a dozer that will work well with a 320 excavator.

I have a question on the 580b case, The enine is a 188 and has the im thinking power shuttle, well the starter has a little bolt on the housing between the starter sylinoid, and starter motor, this bolt keeps leaking fluid around it, is this an adjustment bolt? can it be removed and an o-ring put on it to keep it from leaking? I guess a pic would help also ill try to get one

25-30 year old trucks, why one over another?

I'm hoping to gain some knowledge/insight about this vintage of trucks from the guys who drove them. I didn't grow up around trucking, or the truck industry. All of my experience has come from the dairy farm where we haul grain, forage and have a dump truck for farm related projects. I've logged quite a few hours in Ford Louisville's and recently some hours in a Mack CH600. I find the Mack quite enjoyable as I am a taller person and it just has more leg space in the cab than the...

Saying goodbye to an old friend

Today I said goodbye to an old friend, my D4D which I have owned for a few years now. I hardly used it anymore & a man over 1,350 miles away saw it advertised & ended up buying it. I have mixed feeling about parting with her, but due to the fact I hardly had a reason to own it, I decided it may be better for someone to own it that could put it to better use. The man that bought it has some brush rows to take out. To get a good shipping rate, it needed to be loaded onto a step deck. We...

Detroit 6V92 exhaust riser pipes

We've got a 1985 Ford 9000 with a DD 6V92. The exhaust riser pipes on both sides have cracked at the flanges. These connect the manifolds to the turbo base. The left side pipe cracked at the top flange, the right pipe cracked at the bottom manifold flange. Both pipes cracked in the last couple days while we were chopping hay. We brazed them last night, but we're not overly confident about brazing being a long term fix for them

3/8" to 1/2" hyd. hose OK?

I had a 3/8" swing cylinder hose bust so I got replacements for both of the lines as both had friction wear....

They did not have 3/8" hose so I went with 1/2". It is working well but now I have a leak on one of the swing cylinder seals. Could that larger hose be putting more pressure on the cylinders? Hoses are only approx. 40" long. Also I have been doing a lot of ditch cleaning using the swing cylinders pretty hard.

1969 580CK - Broken Transmission Gears

Hi everyone, I've been lurking around the forum for some time now but am hoping you guys can help me with my latest problem.

I recently purchased a 1969 580CK diesel with a power shuttle and 4 speed. I bought this machine not running with a broken ring gear on the flywheel. Wearing the paint off the bucket

Finished rebuilding the bucket last fall & hardly any snow this past winter, so the old 941 that I purchased the year before sat practically all winter. Today I was able to rough out a pile of fill left from a driveway dig out that was done this past winter in the back yard. We are in an area of really heavy clay, so it is very slow to dry out in the spring. If we don't get rain for a few days, I can go over it again to touch it up. The old machine runs real good for its age.

Automatic Lubrication Systems

Hi All,

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post. If not, please move to the correct one.

We purchased 3 Volvo EC300DL excavators 3 months ago. Now, I am researching Automatic Lubrication Systems for the machines. My questions are:
  1. Do you advise to use ALS?
  2. There are two different models as TWIN and SKF KGF. Has any of you used one of these models? TWIN is twice as much as SKF. Does it worth the value?
Thank you in advance

Cat dozer, did not turbo or engine start puking oil?

lundi 29 mai 2017

I will try to condense my post. Went to run my old D7E. Has not run in maybe 5-6mo. Knew the turbo oil return tube was leaking, always has. Realized during repair that the tube was not long enough because turbo probably was not set perfect but I just machined a quick shim to get this sealed and move on.

Link Belt Swing Issues

Hello gentlemen. I believe I've made some headway on my excavator. Upon pressure testing I have found that I had no unloader pressure (which would be my set pressure.) I believe that is why it would not let my swing brake release. I also disconnected the free swing valve and plate underneath the brake by plugging them. Has John C....

I recently employed the services of an electrician to installed a alternator which I gave to him days before in order to make sure that everything was OK with it. After the site visit and he left I notice that I have no monitor lights on start up and cant rev the machine so I disconnect what he did and reinstall the old alternator and fuses that was burnt and was able to rev the machine to move it.

There was only three lights on the monitor...

Cat 312 won't spin

Hello, My 2000 model year 312 BL won't spin. I think it is either the solonoid on the turn motor or the sensor that tells the solonoid to release the brake. I did realize that it was heat related. It started doing this last week. I would be running it for a while and it would stop turning. I let it sit for a half hour or so and it is normal again. I run it for a while and again it stops turning. Today it stopped and after letting it sit a couple hours it still won't turn. Whatever was on...

Windshield Replace Hyundai Difficult?

Just got a call and my 140lc 9 has a busted windshield (Front Upper) glass only no other damage. Does anyone know if this is a specialty fix to replace or can somebody with a little knowledge get it done. I found the glass for a reasonable price and it states that it doesn't come with hardware, only glass, can i use the existing rubber and hardware. If this is a job that needs special attention please save me some time and speak up.

As always help is appreciated.

Greetings from up north...

Greetings my new friends, I'm 59 and a city boy at heart. Spent most of my life as "the boss" in retail endeavors. After my business life ended I retired up to northern Maine.
I never thought I would find happiness behind the wheel of a backhoe, but needing some work done on my property, I spent quite a few months looking around the internet and the best, inexpensive unit I could find was a glorified lawnmower with a bucket attached for 3500 bucks, No way I said to my buddy!!

Aftermarket parts?

Anyone have luck with aftermarket parts for heavy equipment? If so what brand or company are you working with and what kind of warranty are you getting? I run a repair shop and can't get discount at the dealers so I can't mark the parts up when the customer can buy them over the counter for the same price. Looking for some insight from what you independent guys do. Thanks

Caterpillar 3406B serial number lookup?

I am about 48 hours away from buying a used (85-86) 3406B Cat engine, one that's out of an old Autocar and the guy that's selling it to me was going to use it for a different application in a soil aerating machine. Turned out he didn't use it because of different bell housing and other issues that wouldn't work for him, so he's listed it for sale. I came along and lo & behold, I needed one anyway.

life expectancy for JLG boom lift

Hi

I've been given the task of searching for a boom lift in particular a 450aj sII JLG to go along side another of an identical model, since I've only come across one that has 5000 hrs, I would like to get some indication of if this is high hours for this type of machine, I'm more familiar with earthmoving where equipment is naturally in a rough environment.

What kind of hours have people seen on these machines before doing anything major ?

New Holland LB75B Starter Issues

Hi everyone,

I just joined hoping i could get some help on my backhoe! Thank you in advance for your time and help. I'll try to make this as concise as possible as it has been quite the journey.

I have a New Holland LB75B backhoe that's around 15 years old. I'm not sure of the exact age. My starter issues all started when the battery was constantly being drained to the point where I had to jump it even after one day. From this I determined the battery was no good and the starter was...

some have advised to not get anything earlier than a G, due to different problems .

Good compressor for media blasting

I need a compressor to media blast with. Hoping to get something in the 175CFM+ range. Price is one of the more important considerations right now - but of course not something that will be a headache. Are there brands to stay away from? Or a number of hours where it just makes no sense to buy? I don't know much about the whole thing but we are getting ready to do a bunch of blasting (soda/glass/coal) and just want to make sure we don't pick up anything is all wrong for the task.

JLG 45HA Hydraulic Issue

I have a JGL 45HA. I capped the ports on the drive valve, and when operated one way, I can get it to the 3000 psi it should be. When I go the other way, it only gets to about 2400 psi. I swapped a valve cap end with a different function, and added shims to the spring, but no change.

The odd thing, is when I function another function, it will jump up to the 3000 psi, but not the drive function by itself.

I was curious if the dump valve could be causing this, but it seems like it is...

Shuttle shift problems

Good day gentlemen. Ill describe to the best of my knowledge what I've been experiencing. A year ago, I had purchased a 1973 Ford 4500 backhoe with a 4 speed power reversing trans (shuttle shift). When I first got it home, I had moved it to the back yard, and in doing so I was shifting through gears to make sure that everything was operational. As I got into 4th gear, it came to a rolling stop. From this point, I have tried numerous times to assess the problem. I have had a number of...

JLG 40H confused about the proportional dump valve

I just bought a 40H and I don't have drive or lift and the swing is very slow. It is a standard control machine with the LSG423 engine and vickers proportional valves. Engine runs, everything works except the high speed track option, it needs a new track, and the engine puffs and misses a little at high rpm-no load; but clears up when actually doing work.

Did I mention the pilot valves are leaking? oh what fun.

Turns out it does have a VE pump, please dont scare me <3...

Manaul for Hitaxhi EX 50-URG

Anybody have a manual for a Gray Market Hitachi EX 50 URG. Its a 1992ish model. I have a Parts Book (not alot of help) for this machine but would really like to get a Operators manual or any other books available. I also have the manual for the 3 banger Isuzu engine. New, Used or Photo Copied would be a big help.

Next dumb question is:
What does the URG mean?

Jerky lift cylinder Bobcat 743

The tilt cylinder works smoothly but the lift seems to stick then drop or raise too fast. Almost like it's going into float.
When I push on the top or bottom of the pedal it seems to stick then pops free. Almost lost a log off the forks a few times.
I checked the linkage and it is free. Could the valve spool be sticking or is there a pressure relief valve in there somewhere that could cause this?
I encountered this problem a couple of years ago but it went away as quickly as it started, this...

Cat 262b bogging under throttle

This 'demon" has been around a while now. Machine runs great....half day. All of a sudden, starts sputtering and puking smoke. Not even half power. SOMETIMES...you can turn off, turn back on. Most the time, that only last minutes.

Next day, runs like bat out of hell for...half day?

Changed fuel filter MULTIPLE TIMES!

Someone suggested my fuel lines may have collapsed...on inside. Changed them. Thought I fixed...NOPE!

1966 Cat D8H

Hello everybody, I just became a member of this website because I find it very interesting and educational, especially since I recently purchased a D8H with only basic knowledge of crawler tractors. I really wanted an old D9 but couldn't find one that was operational and in my budget of $10,000. My D8H came from a private seller in Holland, N.Y. and met the criteria I was looking for. It had to be operational, look decent and not too beat up and be in my budget of $10,000. I am not an...

Komatsu pc 200-5 6d95 engine overheating

Dear professional members,
I recently had an issue relating to engine overheating, the engine had major mechanical component inspection on board but did not find any suspicious error and the hydraulic main pump was also adjusted to lower the engine load, which regarded as the main cause of the overheating but those did not give much difference,as the work operation was urgent, one spare engine was sent to replace it,improvement was,but not much, the previous installed engine was disassembled at...

Cat dozer, did not turbo or engine start puking oil?

I will try to condense my post. Went to run my old D7E. Has not run in maybe 5-6mo. Knew the turbo oil return tube was leaking, always has. Realized during repair that the tube was not long enough because turbo probably was not set perfect but I just machined a quick shim to get this sealed and move on.

Got machine going. Nothing abnormal other than I knew the machine had some blowby and seemed quite a lot in the higher wind. Remember checking it a few times. Was mostly just warming...

TD8E Idler - Track Adjuster Won't Move

I have a 1986 International TD8E that the track came off because I was an idiot and forgot some large boulders in the area that the grass had covered. As soon as it came off I stopped so the track stayed pretty close to where it should be in relation. I thought OK, raise it up, loosen the tensioner push the track back on and good to go. First I removed #17 and as i loosened it up some grease came out of a hole. I completely removed it, then I completely removed #18 with the #19 zero in it. I...

CAT IT28B Loader *No Brakes*

Hey guys,

I have an issue with my 87' CAT IT28B, it has no brakes! It has an air over hydraulic system. I replaced an air line that had a hole in it, tested it out and no brakes. Compressor is working fine because the system keeps released air from the relief valve located on the air tank every 30 secs or so when at idle.

I press the brake pedal and I can feel some air pressure there and it makes an air sound. But no brakes what so ever.

Both master cylinders has fluid in them also....

OTT Skid Steer Over Tire Tracks Sand Septic System

I have to install a raised filter bed septic system for my new home. I have access to a 2wd backhoe, mini ex, and a bobcat S150 skid steer. Would it be worth while to invest in a set of over tire tracks for the skid steer or will I need an actual tracked machine to get the job done. This will be my first raised septic system but I may do more if it goes well. I would appreciate any input on the OTT's or tips on the install of the system.

Road Surface Rock Options

I'm curious what you folks have to say about surfacing gravel roads. I know a lot depends on rock type.

Around here we have roughly 3 types of rock used on roads. I am referring here to 1/2" to 1" minus with fines.

1. Hydraulic mine rock. This consists of 6" cobbles down to sand dug from the river bottoms where in some places it lies in enormous quantities. They crush the cobbles but a lot of the rocks are already smaller so they might only get broken in half once to make size. This...

Expected Clearance with new KingPost bushes and pin

Hi Guys, i have an almost new mini excavator and if i measure the lower kingpost pin and bush clearance from side to side using a dial gauge i have .035'' or .889mm without putting a huge amount of weight on it which probably will produce more.
Has any one fitted new pins and bushes to a machine and got big clearances?
Is this normal for new or repaired machine.
Kubota agent says its fine but i think is very ordinary.
Any comments please.

It has good clamping pressure and speed, but the return is week to non existant. I swaped the hoses and the problem followed,
as in the clamping pressure was nil and the return was fast. Way to fast.
In the pics you can see the block that the hoses attach to. The larger pipe feeds the bottom of the cylinder.
The thumb will creep down after I shut off the machine.

Hi everyone, I've been lurking around the forum for some time now but am hoping you guys can help me with my latest problem.

I recently purchased a 1969 580CK diesel with a power shuttle and 4 speed. I bought this machine not running with a broken ring gear on the flywheel. Over the course of a few weekends, I managed to split the tractor and replace the ring gear successfully. This is my first piece of heavy equipment so I learned a lot along the way.

Komatsu Pc50 bucket size

I have a Komatsu Pc50, it's around 11k lb machine. It had a 24" bucket that is pretty torn up.

I found a nice 30" bucket, but not sure if that is going to be to big for the machine.

Any advice?

Thanks

General Pricing Help Needed

I had posted a thread with questions regarding some grading I'm looking at having done, in the scraper section / sub forum, but figured a pricing question might get some more traction in the general forum. I'm completely new to grading/leveling/etc, and just trying to learn as much as I can about it now.

I was able to get some help and some questions answered in that thread, but...was hoping a couple folks could give me some feedback on what pricing might be for what I'm looking to get...

SVL75 - Shattered Door Window

Dayum,
Using grapple to clear some cut mesquite brush and BAM, piece of mesquite shot up like it came out of a rifle and shattered the door in a million pieces. Certainly got my attention! New unit, just 35 hours.
I imagine it's not going to be cheap to replace the thing. Problem is what's going to keep it from happening again? I wonder if they offer an option with ballistic glass
