cummins NH 220 engine timing

Anyone here know anything about timing a cummins NH 220 engine, its the engine prior to a 855 cummins, some call them the same engine depending on who you talk to, it has a PT fuel system on it, first one I"ve ever worked on. Here's the question I have, there are two methods to time the engine, one for torque method, the other for dial indicator method I think its called, but there are two seperate settings on the valves, .011 cold setting on the intake valves for one method which we used...
