Jcb 217s removing transmission advice needed

Well spring is on the way, my 217's jcb backhoe suffered what we think is a broken input shaft unfortunately over a year ago now. Finally have some money saved up and can finally get around to fixing it. So the big question is what is the best way to safety remove the transmission where it sits. It's on nice flat ground which is a plus. A friend of mine suggested a chain hoist by running a chain up over the cab. But want some insight on the best way. Don't mind buying a big tranny jack or...
