Cat IT14G running hot

Engine temp gauge goes into the red after 30 minutes of hard use, unit goes into a limp home mode. With my temperature probe I am only seeing 200 degrees on the cylinder head near the temp senders. A few questions:
Is the cooling fan supposed to pull air in through the oil cooler then the radiator or should it blow out? My unit currently is pulling the air in, I removed the fan it looks like it has never been mounted the other way, it just seems backwards.
