Hello everybody, it's my first post here so I hope I'm doing everything correctly, pls don't feel offended. I hope in the future I can bring a modest contribution to the knowledge base of the forum, but now I'm in bad need of some help.

My problem is engine-related, but I didn't see any engine-specific section, so I'm posting it here since the engine is in a Cat 330B excavator (machine 3YR01089, eng. 13Z48066).

I just scored a 101(got extra points for a class A) on the test to become an operator apprentice. Haven't got a call yet but they say above 95 has a good chance. I am currently a groundman for the IBEW power lineman union. Its really taking a toll on my body digging holes by hand and crap like that so I thought I would test and see what happens. Bobcat 773 Boom Bucket won't Move

Been using the Bobcat 773 on a rotary mower, so the auxiliary hydraulics have been on full time mowing.

Now without the mower, with just a bucket, the boom will only go up and the bucket will only go down unless the auxiliary hydraulics light is on and the thumb switch is pushed "in". Without the light on the engine is laboring.

I'm assuming it had a stuck solenoid valve but I don't know which one. Is that the problem or is there another problem? All the lights are on on the BCIS, and...

Hey guys, im running out of ideas my pump is stuck on minimum swash angle so everythings moving super slow. Ive replaced the sloinoid valves with some second hand ones and it made no difference. Also the engine speed sensor. When i unplug both the solinoid valves it it goes to maximum swash and i checked the angle sensor and it reads 4.4v. If i unplug only the angle sensor then nothing happens but from previous experience, it should send it to maximum. That makes me think its not the angle...

I'm an Army mechanic, getting ready to transition into the civilian side. I was wondering if y'all could help me with a couple questions.

1. Does CAT treat their techs good? What is it like working for them?

2. Do I need tech school? I have 6 years of turning wrenches in the Army, experience with just about everything from undercarriage to electrical. Would I make a solid candidate without tech school?

Trying to track the last bearing down to make a full set for our d353
Odd bearing that are no longer made by cat or miba.
It's a 25 over 25 under main. We have a full set of new bearings minus this last one.
The number is 1n4329.


Seeing if we cant find this bearing we located a shop that says they can rebuild bearings if the shells are okay. They offer a polymer coating that says it boosts the strength of the bearing.
Has anyone heard of this or done this ?

At idle charge pressure is 50psi at full rpm it is 300 psi. When you stroke the levers forward or backward at full rpm it drops from 300 to 200. It also does this with the ports capped off that go to the drive motors so that I could eliminate there being leakage in those. Any thoughts? Also my pressures on the M ports that go to the drive motors are 4500 psi

i have a mid 80s 963 06z machine machine bogs and I have determined its a fuel issue but I have no idea whats going on I have changed the 2 filters and still the same also the throttle lever when its wide open the injection pump is full open but when you slide the lever about inch forward the engine dies it has no low idle

So, I noticed a bunch of hydraulic fluid dripping below my fork lift. After a short inspection, I noticed it was leaking from the main pump area. I lifting the hatch over the motor and continued use. The lift functions fully, but when I use the lift features (boom, tilt, steering), it squirts hydraulic fluid from/near the upper bolt hole where the main pump mounts to the engine. This is not the pump for the hydrostatic transmission; this pump is for the hydraulic functions of the lift.

I need to change the thermostat in my 70's 6000lb Yale forklift so will change coolant at the same time. It's an aluminum head Mazda engine with conventional copper and brass soldered radiator. The guy at Yale says use borate and silicate free, the new antifreezes are designed for aluminum crimped radiators and some will attack the solder used in older conventional radiators. 955k won't move

I was using my 955 k today and a puff of smoke came out the fan and it quite moving. It's 102 out today and it was way too hot out to start investigating. If you speed the motor up past idle you can hear a squealing noise and smell of burning rubber. Looks like the fan and water pump belts are on and ok but it's too hot to look any farther. Hi guys,

Second weekend here using my 2008 CAT 305C CR - mainly moving around big rocks.

I took two videos showing some loose in the thumb and the bucket (24") - here is the video for the thumb:

With that much loose, would you suggest replacing the pins and bushings? I do not want to damage the equipment by using it with too much loose, and I don't know what is too much.

How would you build this?

Looking to do the same thing, with 70 acres of flat iowa farmground. The site pictured is only 15, but I would extend the rifle range pictured from 100 yards to 1000. Same amount of smaller pistol bays though. Lay it all with a scraper and build a nice sized pond out of the borrow pit? Or push it all up with a dozer feathered across the whole property? Or push piles to an excavator? Other ideas?

Today while dozing the speed setting went from the 2 position to one. Using the rocker would not move the setting. I shut down the engine and turned on the key and it would move on the gage but when started up and put into fwd or reverse it would go back to the one position. Since it appears that Winter is finally over in upstate NY, I felt it was safe to remove my snow plow the other day. So, my SS started up just fine, shut the door, engaged my "seat belt defeat" switch (has a seat belt in place of lap bar), pressed the "operate" button on the panel, & WTF!!

Back it out of shop clutches won't release used cat assembly lube to hold the white piston seals in place. At idle 265psi going down tubes to clutch packs. Last two I did with the grease and they took alil bit but did release. Put 7000 psi on ram witch came out to 37 tons on 55 ton press. And about...

Ive got a John Deere 310SG with the electric parking brake.
We were using it on a job one time and one of the guys was running it around in 4WD and it got really hot and forcing trans fluid out the fill pipe.
Now the parking brake applies itself every once and a while and is a pain is the a@@ it get it off. Seems to me if you dont use the brakes in reverse that you dont have as much problem out of it. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a 310 with the 3-164 engine and wonder if Deere ever made a turbo version of that engine. I’m thinking the N/A 16:1 comp could handle a turbo as is.
Anyone who’s ran one of these knows how sluggish a 50 hp backhoe is as a loader.
I would even entertain cutting up a 6 cyl. manifold so quick and dirty is ok also.

Got a bobcat with under 70 hours. Scraping sod for about a half hour and had the left joystick go totally limp. It falls forward and left track has no power. I have hand controls but I assume the problem is either in the hydraulics or the steering linkage. Maybe a power issue but seems unlikely. Is it possible I'm missing something stupid? I am purchasing a '78 Cat 920 loader that has been sitting for 7-8 years. Its a 62K 9xxx serial number. It has a 3304PC engine in it. It comes with the famous story of "ran good when parked". The engine is now seized up. I'm sure there are no miracle cures, and it should just be bought with the thinking of doing an out of frame rebuild? Is this the approach you would take? Recently did up a traxcavator 4:1 bucket and plumbed into auxiliary hydraulics that used to run a tilt bucket. Got it all running OK but since then the hydraulics are funny. I am going to be pulling the pump/motor pack from my 07 Bobcat S300 here in about a month once it starts getting warmer out. I am just trying to get parts here and be as prepared as I can be for it so I can get it done and back together with minimal down time.

Help wanted. we have taken the linde pump off the CK81 and replaced it with one from a 688, whilst most of the plumbing is fairly obvious the 688 pump seems to have 3 low pressure inputs one being on the lower part of the bell housing. I have the manuals for both machines but they omit the pipes to the lower bell housing. phots of the 688 pump in place might be handy

John Deere PE6068 Engine fuel issues

Any good Deere mechanics out there, I have a customer with a 6068 engine with the following codes and symptoms. Unit has lots of power and runs fine for 30 seconds when he begins working and loads it up it loses power dramatically and smokes a bit.

I am thinking he may be drawing air into the suction side of the fuel pump, he changed his fuel filters 100 hrs ago, I told him to do it again and check out his hose from the fuel tank to the first filter.

Any thoughts??

Engine temp gauge goes into the red after 30 minutes of hard use, unit goes into a limp home mode. With my temperature probe I am only seeing 200 degrees on the cylinder head near the temp senders. A few questions:

Since I work 1 week on 1 week off wrenching I'm looking at getting some small side jobs on my time off. I'm looking to do it legitimately (ie no cash under the table).

So aside from registering a company, what will I need to do? Insurance seems like a smart idea. What about WCB? Will I need to pay into that as well even though I plan on being the only employee?

Currently in a Maintainer and weighing ordering an STI or another Maintainer.

I like the Maintainer because it's lighter than any of the others and the stowed height on the crane is much lower as well. They may use one of the loudest pto pumps known to man though. I'm wondering if the STI is any better in that regard. They use a tandem pump.

My quick attach is loose with all my attachments, but I can't figure out what is worn out. I'd say there is 1/2" to 3/4" (depending on the attachment) of play between the pin and the rectangular hole in the attachment, when engaged. I recently acquired a Yanmar B3-6A mini-excavator. It's a Japanese market machine, so there is almost no info on the web, and none at all in English. The dealer says is's "sort of" similar to the ViO30, but it has a sideways articulate arm (instead of pivot). Hello forum, we have just taken delivery of a used Komatsu WA250-5 as above.
It does everything it should but I notice when operating it, if you take your foot off the accelerator it very quickly comes to a stop. A bit like you applied the brakes.

I need to change a fuel filter and there is no numbers left on it. Just wondering if anyone would know the part number for one? Is degree torqueing more accurate? Im old school and have always click torqued my bolts, but it seems more and more Im running into the degree torqueing. I know its been around for awhile but in my mind I just don't see that degree torqueing is that accurate. Can someone explain this in a fashion that makes sense to me? When Ive done degree torqueing it seems to be all over the place. I still think click torqueing is more accurate.

Having problem with my 2011 case tr270. Just bought this machine and was running fine, decided to run air conditioning when I flipped the green lit switch to turn on the air the engine was dragged down and stalled. The problem is now there are no lights or power in the cab, on the instrument panel, no beeps, nothing. Did I blow a fuse? I tested power at the starter on the large cable and there is power there. New battery and ground cable. Switch key appears fine.

Hi every one had a problem with 973C loosing pressure when turning 360 left or right turned out to be a crack in the head of the left drive motor repaired and now no more trouble codes machine works good but when turning sharp left or right the left track didn’t seem to be getting the same power out of it as the right one is there an adjustment on flow to the motors.

I own a 1988 pc-120. The hydraulics on this machine are manual.

The machine has sat for 4 or 5 years.
I put two new batteries in it today and it fired right up. Runs perfect.

Problem- the forward and reverse control levels are frozen- stuck. Also, the boom up lever is stuck. All the other controls work.
I tried to spray some pb blasted on the main control valves. I also tapped the arms with a hammer and a block of wood?

I'm working on an old tree service truck for an estate, 1987 Chevy 7000 with an 8.2. Was running when parked several years ago. Starts and runs easily with ether or gas rag, but won't run on its own. I've had issues the past few years with my fix it shops for radiators, several in fact, I know I'm a slow learner, so it took several repeat radiators to get the jest of being scammed and billed for having done nothing but giving it a nice coat of paint and cashing my checks of course.

JD 410G Loss of Power

I'm really stumped by this problem. My 2006 JD 410G has a loss of power. It comes and goes such that if I start out simply moving the machine in forward, in 2nd gear, I see a 2200 RPM engine speed, about normal, but in seconds that can drop to 810 RPM or so, even with the accelerator full on. If I come to a hill, it barely will climb it in 1st gear. Holding the accelerator full on, it can build up to 1800 RPM, then down again. Needless to say, I can't do any work with it in this condition....

I'm looking at a used 580D backhoe attachment for my 580C. Will it bolt right on my 580C without any modifications? This one is in good shape and mine needs a lot of repairs. Also it has hand controls, and due to a leg injury I'm struggling with the foot swing. So this would be a nice upgrade if it would fit right on.

I'm looking for backhoe buckets that will fit mine, the issue is a lot of the buckets have tapered ears.
The front set of ears normally are fine - 8-10" from ear to ear, but the back ones seem to be normally 5-1/2" apart.
Is there any way I could make it fit on mine?

I'm moving from skid steers and mini ex's to heavy construction equipment at a new place. My tools are mostly 3/8 and 3/4 drive, seemed like if the 3/8 won't move it the 1/2 doesn't do any better so I go straight to the 3/4. Will this work on heavier equipment or will I be better off starting with 1/2 drive and going to 1 inch when that is lacking?

Now I have what's probably my first of many questions... The cab heater fan has a loud rattle at low/high speeds and looking at the Kubota parts catalog, they don't seem to sell just the fan but the whole heater box. And its over $800.

Bought myself a 2002 case 521dxt wheel loader.

It’s stuck in limp home mode.

It has a new dash panel and has also had an engine rebuild and new wiring looms fitted.

The only fault codes I’m getting are 29200 (low oil pressure) and 46242 which is current ID not set or corrupt. The fix for this is to reprogram the correct configuration for the vehicle, how do you do this? I can’t find any info in the workshop manual as to how to do it.

My quick attach is loose with all my attachments, but I can't figure out what is worn out. I'd say there is 1/2" to 3/4" (depending on the attachment) of play between the pin and the rectangular hole in the attachment, when engaged. With all the slop I am mangling the pins and the rectangular holes in the attachment. I couldn't even open the quick attach the other night until I did a bunch of filing on the pin (in the dark - fun) because the pins wouldn't retract due to all the dimples...

I’m currently in the process of buying an excavator for farm use and came across a nice looking Cat 205LC. I went to see it yesterday and while driving it I noticed that the slew brake wasn’t working at all to stop the machine from turning in either direction. It was parked on a slope and made no effort to keep the machine in one position. I also tried applying the foot brake, but that didn’t work either.

I have a 2006 TL140 and it has a heck of a time starting, even just after shutting it down too. Compression, glow plugs, engine timing, lift pump, fuel filter, inj pump screen, fuel line from tank, and return line to tank are all in good condition. Once it's up and running it runs great, no lack of power. Takeuchi part number I1-13260-0011 is what I'm wondering if there should be some sort of a spring loaded check valve. Mine just has a little hole through the center allowing fuel to freely...

Hi when the hydraulic oil warms up the excavator doesn't swing anymore.
We have tried to replace the solenoid
but now when the solenoid is connected to the power it's not turning anymore
but when we tried disconnecting the solenoid power it is possible to swing the excavator. Also we measured the voltage on the connector it's reading
26.6v isn't it supposed to be 24v?

So I bought a pete (1992) with a motor knock in it. 3406 b, air to air, spacer plate motor, no jakes, supposed to be 425 but no tag on engine.

Dropped pan and one piston has been replaced, and sleeve. The other pistons are looose in the sleeves. Practically fall. I think the knock was actually a piston rocking in a sleeve after it warmed up.

We pulled intake piping, and its full of fine dust/rust/ maybe feed mill dust or clay from a end dump trailer. I'm thinking they ruined a air...

I went to the parts store to get some 14 AWG for my project and all they had in stock was CCA. The "parts" guy told me "it's the same stuff but way cheaper". Um, no it's not. I guess low price is everything these days. Off to the internet and order up some bulk copper to use & stock the shop & truck.....
