Ok, men. I was informed today that a dam in my area needs to be decommissioned, and I'm the guy they want to do it. The state is working on a plan for what they want done because there is some cost-sharing involved. We know for sure all the concrete, including wingwalls, has to come out. They aren't sure yet what to do with it. We are going to breach the dam somewhere and drain water off. We are estimating there is about 800-1000 acre-feet of water to let off, it's about 6' deep at the dam. The spillway itself is about 8' high, no idea how thick the concrete is. My question for all of you is where would you start, what machinery, etc. Hopefully I can answer questions as they come. And, GO.
