Heavy Equipment Operator Career

jeudi 21 avril 2016

I'm getting ready to graduate from High School in about 5 weeks, I'm trying to decide what career path I want to follow, Heavy equipment operator vs automation engineer (programming industrial robotics) I have always been a fan of heavy equipment form day one. I have a heavy equipment operator school nearby, that has good reviews. Theirs also an apprenticeship program from the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE 18) that I could join that's four years long. I have a couple questions that would help me with making my decision. Question #1: as a heavy equipment operator do you tend to stick with one company for your entire career, or is their a lot of jumping from one employer to the next, I ask this because I'm just concerned about having a steady job, where I don't have to worry about being unemployed (but I do understand that this field can be unsteady). #2: In your opinion is it still worth getting into the HEO line of work. #3 what would be the best kind of company to work for in terms of the service they provide or just in general. I think that's all the questions I have for right now, I know you cant make the decision for me, but any advice, or answers to my questions would be much appreciated, thank you for your time.
