Bad Turbo Puting oil in the airtanks.
I thought the truck i was working on had a bad compresser. Last fall i replaced the dash valves and saw it had oil in it. It is a farm truck so it was parked after that. I started working on it friday and to day i pulled the compresser intake tube off that supplys air from the engines head to the compresser. It had some oil in it so i pulled the hose that runs from the outlet side of the turbo to the cooler if front of the rad. It was coated with black sticky oil. It is a M11. Is there any way to clean the air brake system out? I have been told that the oil will eat up the rubber parts.
Molydisulfide grease for pivot points and axle bearings?
My operators manual says to use a Molydisulfide grease (specifically AMBRA GR 75 MD) whatever that is....
My question was whether I can use this same type grease to grease my axle bearings as well. It didn't say to use another type grease, but I just wanted to make sure.
Also, where do I get this grease at? My grease gun only holds those small 3oz cartridges. It would seem I'm going to need a WHOLE lot more grease than 2 or 3 of those?
And one other question, too. How do I know when the axles are full? Will I not be able to pump any more into the fitting?
Thanks for answering this greenhorns' questions. :tong

Cat 247b2 for farm work?
Hey guys. We are looking at buying a kid steer for farm work (we have a horse farm). The machine in question is a 247b2. I wanted to know what you guys think of them. I have looked at a lot of different machines for the one, (Cat 236, Case 1845c, Deere 320d, Takeuchi TL8 etc). But I think I have found the machine. Does anyone have any horror stories, or any good ones? Any help is appreciated thanks. John Gibson

Zoom Boom 8044, tilt cylinder slow to function! (10 second delay)
Working on a Zoom Boom 8044 and having some issues with the tilt function/compensator.
When you push the button on the joystick and push/pull on it, it takes about 10 seconds for the forks to actually tilt up or down. All other functions are immediate when using the joystick, the only other related issues is that often the forks don't compensate during boom raising and lowering.
I've done some pressure testing and not quite sure how to chase this one down. I've got 300 psi pilot pressure going to the valve body from the cab. I took a pressure reading at the cylinder and it gets almost no pressure until about 10 seconds after the joystick is moved, so it seems like something is causing a delay in the valve itself. I pulled it out and it looks fine. Not really sure how to keep chasing this issue.
If I leave the forks up over night, they don't fall so I'm going under the idea that it isn't piston seal related.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Bobcat 863 Hydraulic FLUID recommendations please
I recently purchased a 1998 bobcat 863 high flow skidsteer and am servicing the machine and have been told many different opinions on the proper hydraulic fluid. Bobcat recommends there own hydrostatic /hyraulic fluid. I have freinds with similar machines who tell me that they use aw-32 on there machines witch is alot cheaper than the bobcat recommended hydrostatic fluid. Obvoisely the manufacterer will always say to use there product which is much more expensive. I have no problem purchasing ther hydrostatic /hydraulic fluid. Just looking for any recommendations from anyone with experience with this please and thank you your help is very much appreciated
Tracks vs Wheels...that is the question
Can't figure it out alone. For me it's about the fixing, because I can afford only used.. Yes, I'd prefer a track machine for the stability on inclines and better digging traction, but I'm 68 , 80 miles from the nearest dealer and would have to rig up some kind of hydraulic lift to be able to do anything on the undercarriage. Still I'm looking at 80 acres of selective clearing, some pad and road building and a good deal of terrain variation.

953 front idler rubbing
I tightened the tracks on my 953 Friday and after doing so it began to squawk terribly from the right front idler. I thought sure I'd lost the idler bearing. After pulling the guards to check the oil in the bearing I found the center "rib" of the idler rubbing against the yoke of the track tensioner cylinder. The rails on the machine aren't that badly worn, so my thought is there has to be a way to adjust the front idler out and "reset" it so to speak. Problem is I'm not that experienced to know what I'm looking for there if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Power shft pressure problem
Hi all,
We have excavator 320 C, when we switch on the machine, the display shows PS pressure of 65,509 KPA. and it continues to show this pressure when we are operating the machine or turn it off. During operation at the end of any function, e.g. lifting the boom, the engine automatically stops due to
overload. The speed of machine seems to be bit faster than normal. Can I tell me what might be the problem...

Komatsu D65EX-15 getting hot
dimanche 30 mars 2014
We are new in the dozer business, bought a 2006 D65EX-15 last fall. The dozer is primarily used cleaning up farm ground, pushing out fence rows, and building terraces. A few days ago with temperatures around 50-60 F in Missouri the dozer was getting warm, not enough to stop, but with spring coming on would like to figure it out before summer. If anyone has any insight at all it would be greatly appreciated
Cat engine tools FS
I have come across some Cat engine tools someone may be able to use. I have 3 of a part number 5F8353. It is the tool that fits inside the precombustion chambers on the 46-A series D-8 engine. A D342 engine I think.
The next one is a part number 8S5417. It is the timing plate for the old style injection pump timing for a 3306 engine.
Last one is a 8S0225. Precombustion tool for I think the 3306 engine. Send me an IM if interested or e-mail me at hitachifixer@aol.com First $150.00 for all of them they are yours. Will send pic`s if you are interested. Thanks

Clark Forklift Hydraulic Problem
I have a Clark C300 forklift and it was leaking hydraulic oil into the engine, i was lifting something up when all the hydraulics stoped working. I checked the return line and it was empty. I am wondering if the pump cannot suck the oil since the reservoir is lower than the pump. Anyone have any ideia of what is happening or how can i make the oil get to the pump.

Looking to purchase D8k
New here, I live on a farm, and I have been working in construction for 5 years so far, want to start myself a business. Looking at purchasing a piece of heavy equipment for this, and then move on to more. There is two pot ash mines that are going to be going up in my area locally and want to get on the ball before it's too late. There is a 1977 D8k for sale, they want $28,000 for it. Here's a link to the dozer. http://ift.tt/1fEmn3f
I have a few questions, i have read that they have cracking head problems if pushing on steep grades that the water will go to one side, and when you flatten out the coolant cold shocks the head? And with the transmission sucking air and becoming a run away, but that is remedied by adding an extra 5 gallon pail of fluid tthe transmission.
Is there anything else one should know about these older units? Other then they are one of the best units you can buy?
What about transportation? I will need to move the unit quite often, i have access to a 500+ horsepower kenworth that is set up for wide loads, but no trailer. What kind of trailer is best? I watched this video and it looks like the lower the trailer the better. http://ift.tt/1fEmn3j
Tri axle trailer is a must probably with weight of the dozer. Was looking at this trailer http://ift.tt/1fEmn3l and this trailer http://ift.tt/1fEmn3n
Let me know what everyone thinks.

huber 1500
Our local motorcycle club is in need of a grader to maintain the racing surface. We have a Huber 4D with a bad transmission. Common on that model, I've been told. We located a couple of Huber 1500s that are in running condition from a fellow who seems to have taken of them. I know very little about graders. If any of you grader guys have any thoughts about this model Huber, we would certainly appreciate your opinion. Thank you, Matt.

Thinks to look at when buying D6N
My cat dealer brought out a 2006 d6n lgp for me to demo and im kinda thinking about buying it but wanted to make sure i wasnt overlooking something on this machine or buying a piece of crap. For starters it has 4500 hrs, vpat, lgp, fourth valve, erops diff steer. Undercarrage is shot imo so they are going to throw a new bottom in on the price minus the labor. Also the cutting edge looks like it was just flipped, tower bushings seam tight also. Appearance id rank it as "good", but obvious it wasnt in a shed any of its life like typical construction equipment. It was at a sister cat dealer in MO as a rental until now. The are wanting $102xxx. Any input
Looking at a JD CT322
Hello everyone. First time poster here. I am looking at a 2006 CT322 with 2400 hrs. It came from a government facility so I know it was well maintained. It will need a set of tracks for sure. I have a 2004 JD wheeled skid steer and have been super happy with it. Change fluids and go so far. I was just wondering what I should look for on this one and if there are any issues with these track machines. Thanks
Good Brand/models of older telehandlers
I'm in the market for a telehandler, thinking around 8000# model. Machine will not be used much so i would like a purchase price of around $20k. What are some of the good one's to keep an eye out for? If i was suggesting to someone a good budget skid loader i would tell them a Case 1845C, pretty reliable, not a nightmare to work, little electronics and good parts availability used and new. So what one's should i be looking for?
Cat 3406 turbo mounting
A friend has an MBN engine that eats the studs mounting the turbo like candy. If they don't loosen up they break off, the local shops act like they've never heard of it before. It happened with the original parts, now he has a PDI manifold and a C16 turbo, it still does it. Any ideas why it happens and if there's a cure?
Hitachi EX 300-3 Hydraulic problem
My EX 300-3 has a control lockup up problem that has me. When cold, my rear pump will lockup and I will lose a function. Usually it it one track or a boom up issue. When I turn the machine off and restart, all is back but will happen over and over until the oil warms up and frequency reduces. When this happens, the pump will squeal. and the main line from the pump to control valve, which gets totally pressurized, feels like it if filled with buzzing bees. All of that stops after a restart.
I did previously, replace an o-ring in that regulator to stop a leak and fear I may have started the problem then. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Deere 450c trans case
I'm helping a friend of mine with a John Deere 450C Dozer. He bought it, knowing that the transmission case was cracked, but had gotten such a good deal he couldn't turn down. He has found a complete transmission, to do a swap, but looking at the shop manual pictures, the tracks and the track frame are removed.
Can a person pull the transmission case, and final drive assembly all in one piece, then remove the final drives.
Or does the final drives go thorough the frame rails to the transmission.
Im aware of all the other stuff a person has to pull to get at the transmission, but looking for the easiest way to swap out the transmission.
Id appreciate any advice on this operation, as I've never done it before, and knowing that this is a common problem, someone out there must have found an easy way to do it.

electric to gas motor conversion.
I got a question from a friend today, he s changing an old stacking conveyor from a electric to a gas motor and wondering what the hp conversion is.
from what I have read on line this morning it is roughly 1 -1.5 electric to 2 gas. ie. 5 hp electric will do the same as 10-12 hp gas.
the conveyor is 80 feet long, 24 inch belt, with a 30 hp electric and a 40:1 reduction..
roughly that means I need around a 60 hp gas motor is this correct?

Questions about building a pond in clay?
I am going to build a pond in some clay soil. I have built ponds in the past in sandy/rocky soil, and I was wondering if you do it any different. Normally I would clear it if need be, then dig the core. I then start digging the pond out and building the dam. I generally take the core down to solid rock and then start the dam, by filling it in 6 to 8 inch lifts and packing.
My questions are how deep to take the core?
Do I need to pack the bottom and sides of the pond?
Thanks

Need a dump truck that can also haul a backhoe on top of it
I'm looking to get a Class 6 (26K max GVWR) medium duty dump truck that can haul my 1967 Case 580 backhoe that weighs around 10K.
I want to haul the hoe in the dump bed not on a trailer because I don't have a CDL so I need to stay within 26K total weight.
I'd only haul the hoe locally, within 50 miles, no highways, no hills as I'm in south Florida so it's all flat land.
I'm thinking a Ford F-800 with a diesel engine.
Is this possible at all? I guess I'd need to build some sturdy ramps!
Is the bed sturdy enough to hold the uneven load of a backhoe?

CAT 426 Transmission
Hello Forum I am new here.
I have a CAT 426 Backhoe with trans#F7-2017.Serial # 7BC-0**** The backhoe is 1992 ish. It wont move forward or backwards.
I checked the fluid and now I am worried, the fluid looks milky which usally when I see that I think water in the mix!! I looked up in the manual and it says the fluid is just SAE 30. So I interpret that as just as 30 weight oil???
as far as not moving I was gonna trouble shoot the neutralizer solenoids but I first wanted to confirm or deny my suspicion of water in the fluid?? and if confirmed can I flush the system or what would be my next step.
Thanks

416C Starting Problem with Hydraulics Under Pressure
If any pressure exists on the hydraulic system, the starter has difficultly turning over the engine as if the pump is under pressure. If hydraulic pressure is released on all cylinders, the starter has no problem. Is this correct operation for a 416c?

case 621b
My mulch guy is selling his 621b with about 12k hrs. 2nd owner. Anything to watch out for? Said he put new turbo on last year.
Is it possible to put a quick coupler on this machine? All my sectional snow pushers are on quick couplers and do much better that way. If it's possible, any idea on cost?
Guy says he'd let it go for less than 20k. Decent deal it seems?

Kenworth ABS problem
I have the trailer abs light on in my 2007 T800. I determined that there wasnt getting any power between the wire going to the trailer wire plug and the in dash fuse. I repaired that problem and now when you turn the key on you can hear the abs on the trailer cycle but the abs light in the dash and the trailer stays on. Is that something the dealer would have to reset or is there another problem maybe?
WildKat Brush Cutter Price
Just thought I would run this up the flag pole. I went and looked at a 72" Wildkat brush cutter with front push bar. It is used but pretty square. Motor and gearbox look Ok with no leaks. Seems to run good with no horrific noises. Not as heavy as some I am sure but for the amount of billable hours per year it should be fine. Needs a set of blades and the "stump jumper" needs a crack repaired. Should be able to talk him into 2k.
What says the forum? New Wildkats delivered to me would run around 3800 or 3900 so no way I would buy new. If I intended to spend that on a new one I would go to a different manufacturer like CID, CE, Skid Pro, etc for more coin but this one came up so I went and looked at it.
Our old Woods M5 finally gave up so I have to replace it. Now I wouldn't have to drag two machines around.

Propane smell coming from excavator exhaust...
... and no the machines don't run on propane:)
We run a Case 9010B and a New Holland E130, and in both machines we've all smelled propane coming from the exhaust. On the New Holland it went away, but on the Case it's been continuing and the exhaust smell just lingers in the cab. First time it happened the smell was so strong that i thought i hit a gas line! Is this just the winter additives in the diesel mix? To me, it doesn't smell like burning hydraulic oil but one of our guys thinks it sorta does.
Literally everyone who comes around the machine says "do you smell that gas leak?"

Most cost efficent way to replace front glass (flat, for a JD 490D)?
...searched for this answer in the forum - so my apologies if it's in here!
My front glass was replaced with plexiglass some time ago, and you literally can barely see anything though it... Of course this means that is a good template for a glass shop to cut me a new piece - BUT, is this most economical way to go? E.g., there may be an after market supplier that has them ready to go with the wiper hole etc.(?)
The machine is a 1990, John Deere 490D excavator, this is the main, front upper flat glass that is in the sliding window (the bottom's out too).
Also, in my search I located the term 'grey market'. What is this? (Sounds shady!)
Thanks,
Mark
My front glass was replaced with plexiglass some time ago, and you literally can barely see anything though it... Of course this means that is a good template for a glass shop to cut me a new piece - BUT, is this most economical way to go? E.g., there may be an after market supplier that has them ready to go with the wiper hole etc.(?)

compressed natural gas fuel
we are a county secondary road system, we are looking into cng fuel, its going to be a expensive conversion.
has anyone looked into this or are using it looks like it may be the fuel of the future.
there are government incentives out there but haven't looked to far into that yet want to see if its something we want to do yet. paybacks on vehicle conversions have a pay back of around 2 to 3 years, but the fast fill station can run as much as or more than 1 million dollars.
THANKS

cng fuel
have any of you thought about or have put compressed natural gas (cng) conversion on trucks pickups or any other equipment. we are a county secondary road system and are looking into it, going to be expensive for the conversions and the a fast fill station. the vehicle conversion show a pay back of 2 to 3 years depending on how much annual fuel usage, the fuel station is another deal looks like around a million dollars looking into federal assistance on that.

Tak TL140 REWIRE
All,
Has anyone done a rewire job on a Tak TL140? Looking for used wiring harness or knowledge on electrical connectors on all solenoids. I am awaiting replies from advertised dismantle machines. No word yet.
My sometimes wiring problem only affects the A B Auxiliary circuits. And that wiring bundle from cab to body sucks to troubleshoot.
Should I be able to do ( Amber light switch) constant run with one click on either direction ( A or B ) wilst going One Way Flow ( Green light switch) so the fluid dumps strait back through the cooler and sump, bypassing the return port in the spool valve for AB circuit?
My rewire idea is to can the cutsey controller/ signal conditioner and simply power the solenoids via manual switches. Aircraft high amp pop out/ push on breakers come to mind.
Ideas?

john deere 744J
Gda'y People, new to the forum, am looking at buying a 2nd hand John Deere 744J, has 8500hrs. there isn't much Deere gear on the market in Australia so was wondering if anyone new much about them? what are some of the common problems? what should I be looking out for? cheers for your help
I need some advice on what size excavator I will need for a strange job....
I am a tree contractor and I have a project on the side of the highway in Georgia. Its one of the busiest, most dangerous roads in Georgia.
I have 80 trees locked in an area by a river and a guard rail.
I have no possible access other than lifting a 9500lb chipper over the guard rail. The DOT says absolutely no on disassembling the guard rail.
I have an emergency lane that is exactly 12 ft wide. The guard rail is 26" tall.
We have checked with several cranes and the outriggers will not fit. So we are wondering if we could use a zero turn excavator to lift the Chipper and preferably a 10200lb track loader over the rail on entry then on exit(we have a way to get the track loader on the job using a trailer with ramps on the side if neccesary)
And please I dont need any advice on other ways to do the job I've already had 10 meetings with the DOT on what I am allowed to do and not do in this situation so it has come down to only a few options.
What size zero turn could I rent that would be capable of a 10klb lift and still be well within 12 feet wide?
Thanks

1997 international 4700 trans question
so we just bought a 1997 international 4700 flatbed with a 5 speed manual, we unfortunately got the 190hp one, we have found out that the dealer will turn up the power but the trans has to be upgraded
that isnt a big deal since we want something with more gears anyways because we use it to tow around a mini ex:cool:
we were thinking the dana 7 speed as that was one of the options that originally came in these trucks but i was reading nothing but complaints about them. so my question is does anyone have any first hand experience with these transmissions? does anyone else know what other transmissions would work?? does anyone know what the 7 speed dana trans part number is, the international dealer around here is really useless so trying to get any info from them is like pulling teeth

Bobcat 953 Problems
I don't know much about the history of this non-operational Bobcat 953 but am trying to get it running and moving again. The motor is not running yet, but I'm hopeful about that.
One of the other problems is that the machine does not move - that is what those who last operated it said. I also noticed that the machine freewheels when not running. One can tow it and the wheels turn, without skidding. It seems unlikely that anyone engaged tow mode/tow valves, but I should check that first, if it has that feature. Can anyone tell me where the tow mode controls are located and how to engage/disengage them? The hydrostatic oil is low - does not show on the dipstick. So, of course, that needs to be topped up too. Could a low oil level cause the freewheeling? I doubt that it would that low, but who knows.
Any other ideas of what would explain the inability of the machine to move and the freewheeling? I suppose it could be broken chains, an exploded motor or two, or a broken main belt. It might have to go to the dealer, but it would be good to have an idea of what is going on first.

John Deere 850 dozer upper and lower radiatior hoses
Working on a new purchased, old 1984 dozer...... Looking for a upper and lower radiator hose for 1984 John Deere 850 dozer with six cylinder 619 cubic inch engine, the John Deere cataloge part numbers are T53221 and AT51299. Gates didn't have any cross references. The only ones able to find from John Deer seem expensive at around $100. Anybody had any experience on cross reference to a generic off the shelf part number?
Strange warning light on Cat 428C
Hey guys,

Locate or build? High speed / high stress excavator arm
I will be building an exhibition machine that will require an excavator type arm (big arm, boom, bucket- about 26 ft total length) carrying an 1800 lb load where the bucket normally would be.
However this load will need to be accelerated beyond the normal operating parameters of a standard arm.
The load will need to be launched into the air about 30 ft. From beginning of lift to release about 1-2 seconds, ~3g acceleration. It will be caught, some energy regenerated as fluid is pumped back to the accumulators, and the cycle repeated.
I have located high speed cylinders and fast servo valves but have not seen booms or arms designed for these stresses.
Before I attempt to re-engineer the arms I was hoping to find examples of booms or arms capable of this extra duty. Any ideas?
Thanks all

8040 Zoom Boom Carelift Hydraulic pulsing.
Hey guys
I have an old Zoom boom Carelift getting a bit of an overhaul in the shop, I having a hydraulic issue that i don;t understand, i'm quite an amateur when it comes to certain hydraulic problems, anyways the problem i am having is a pulsating hissing noise like a pressure release from the pump leading to the hydraulic steering box, it shakes the whole machine while operating the boom and i suspect it may be dangerous to run this machine on a job site. As the machine is running I follow the hoses running through the system making the noise and the are pulling hard when the noise occurs. in the video i tired to demonstrate this... http://ift.tt/1gKtBIh
Any suggestions are definitely welcome.

Fuel shut off on PC240-6
On the PC240-6, when I turn off the key, the engine doesn't stop but the RPM decrease lower than the low idle. But the most important is that on the fuel shut off I have 3.7V when I turn the key off. If I remove the wire on the fuel shut off the engine stop. The fuel pump is a VE robert Bosch where the fuel shut off is like a cartridge with one wire on it. I measured the resistance of the fuel shut off, it is 28ohm.
Is it normal to have 3.7V on the fuel shut off when turning off the engine? what should be the standard value for the resistance? maybe the resistance of this fuel shut off is smaller than the genuine that was used, so at 3.7V there is a small current that still allow a small passage of fuel to the pump, am I right or wrong?

2004 Volvo EC240BLC - Swing drive filling with hydraulic oil and rumbles when stoppin
Hi all, Any help would be greatly appreciated. I purchased a 2004 Volvo EC240BLC. When I start to swing and when its coming to a stop when I bring the stick to neutral, the machine rumbles a bit. like a grinding sound. I went to check
the oil level in the swing motor and found the dip stick tube was filled to the top with oil full of air and cloudy white. I'm assuming this is hydraulic oil.
I'm thinking I will need to pull the swing motor out and replace the seals. Is this a complicated job that needs special equipment or can I buy the seals and change them myself.
Any info on where I can buy parts other than a Volvo dealer.
Thanks in advance

Bobcat B300 Engine swap V 22203 for rebuilt V2203
Update for those following my last thread about the ol' bobcat. Well, we got in the new engine to replace the old Kubota V2203,(replaced with the same), and it has been a complete nightmare! The old engine had been through it all, but its being replaced because of the massive Blow-by from the ventilation tube.(a pulsing, and blowing oil everywhere) which would tell us the oil rings had worn out.So we got on to the task of pulling the engine.which i missed the 1st time, but heard was no problem, so we put what we needed on the old engine (oil pan, hand primer,etc..).Well the 1st time we put the engine in with no problems it might have taken us 2 hours, and we got it ready, cranked it. It cranked and cranked and slowly started a terrible squeal and then locked up. wouldn't turn over at all. So after taking the belt off to see if it was the source of the squealing(which it wasn't) i pulled the starter to check the flywheel. which i saw to have a gouge in. After investigating with a bore-o-scope we found a bolt wasn't run down on the back of the bell housing(day classes oops). So we pulled it back out got the bolt out, tapped the hole, and got everything ready and torqued to spec. Got the engine in and everything hooked up. Started cranking and the line coming from the filter to the pump was air locked. so we bled and bled and bled the lines. It fired up! But was idling pretty rough. so we had to do a little afro engineering after breaking a bolt off to the throttle hold bolt. Well we got it idling good and it seemed like everything was good. Today we went to fire it up for a test run and it took forever to finally get it to fire. (had to bleed the lines again). well we took it for a test drive and it seemed to be doing fine until i took it down the hill beside the school. It about didn't make it back up.... NO POWER..it boggs down on a 10 degree slope.well we continued to run it. dig some holes, run it through different applications. brought it back into the shop and there were leaks everywhere! fuel line leaks, oil leaks, coolant leaks...all from things that were assumed to be torqued to spec on arrival. well we got all those leaks sorted and noticed it still has quite a bit of blow-by in the vent. tube.....is this a V2203 common? or do we need yet another engine? compression test tomorrow. any ideas on the power issue?

850k vs d6t

Getting both a d6t and 850k dropped off tomorrow to compare. Think its going to be fun. Right now we have 750j and d6ns. I like the cats. Supposed to be off but might go in just to play with them and see what I like best. Both PAT blades wide tracks. Any thoughts on either?

New holland ls150 question
Hi guys my friend has an ls 150, it has the enclosed cab, on the door yesterday he closed the door after exiting and the door would not open again until he used a crow bar to pry it open. Trailer dock restraint styles?
This is more of a warehousing/retail distribution question, but this looks like the best place to put it. I work maintenance for a large company, and at the campus I work at one of the buildings contains a large scale print shop, which processes something like 8 million feet of paper per day, and the result is a whole lotta trucks. On the docks there are two styles of restraint, the hook kind (http://ift.tt/1g5Rm7B) and the wheel lock kind (http://ift.tt/1g5RkwJ). Now from a maintenance standpoint, the wheel lock kind is horrid. A quarterly PM takes two hours because you have to take all the covers off the length, lube everything, put it back together, then go find a semi and get the driver to pull in there to make sure it is working smoothly (this is required by the property owners, not the manufacturer). Annual is even worse because you have to torque all the bolts on it, and there are a lot. From a functionality standpoint, they're horrid. I would say that once a month a driver misses the thing entirely, backs OVER the lock, and gets his truck stuck; at which point the dock workers call us and we say "What do you want us to do? Call a tow truck." Every once in a while someone tries to back a pickup truck into the thing too, which bangs up the rear wheel well pretty good.
So my question to you fine gentlemen (and gentle-ladies if there happen to be any about) is, does the wheel lock style have any advantage over the hook, and if so what are they?

Chippewa Valley Equipment in WI a reputable company?
Greetings - I am buying a used bucket cylinder for my JD 490D from the above company, and paying them to put a kit in it and ship it to me...
If anyone has had performance problems with this company, please send me a Private Message highlighting your experience - I'd appreciate it (or a straight-up reply if they're good). (Always a little disconcerting giving a heretofore unknown person your credit card number in exchange for a promise to deliver on something!)
Thanks,

Creative uses for old cylinder rods???
Gentlemen - just throwing this out there... my bucket cylinder for my 490D JD was deemed to be non-rebuildable (scored barrel, trashed 'piston' with the rod having a 'sweeping' bend).
Any good ideas on how I may re-purpose my cylinder rod? (Sure, I can make a cannon from my barrel, but there has to be some value in the rod...) It's too big for pin stock, and too heavy for a pry bar...
Someone has done something useful and creative with these!
Thanks in advance for ideas!

First skid loader job story
My story, I bought the skid loader in Oct of 2013 for more of my personal use. Some tasks I do are firewood, moving car parts, general house/farm maintenance and building my garage. I have very little experience actually using a skid loader for dirt work other than driving them around to pull/push and lift cars. I paid cash for the machine and planned to do an occasional job to help pay for maintenance and parts of the machine. I have a smooth bucket, tooth bucket, an auger and in the process of making a root bucket. In the future I have my eyes on purchasing or building pallet forks, 4 n 1 bucket and/ or a grapple.
I just did my first paying skid loader job the other day. I had to fill/smooth 3 20ton dump truck loads of 2”clean and 3 of fill/washout. The guy wanted an area built up on the side of his house to park his RV and start/eventually use the area for a pole barn. He needed 2+ foot fill at the end of the parking space to make it level. I have very little skid loader material moving experience. Most of my seat time has been moving/lifting car parts. I told the gentleman $75 an hour and told him I estimated a couple hours. He told me he could rent a skid loader for $200 and that’s what he would pay me. At this point I almost didn’t do the job because I already felt like I was being lowballed, but I did want to use the skid loader for small side jobs. I also needed the experience to bid future jobs. So I told him I would do the job. He is less than 10 miles from me so I wasn’t going to have too much fuel or time in transportation. When I showed up to the job, I talked to the customer to get his expected outcome of the project. I started without a clue of what I got myself into. I wanted to work as efficiently and fast as possible, as the two hour time window didn’t leave for much room for profit. I was wildly driving up and down the piles and a couple of times I got myself into some but puckering angles, thinking I was going to flip or roll over. After about 20 minutes, I decided that I better slow down and think it through. I half throttled the machine and started moving 1 bucket at time smoothing as I drove back to the pile. With this thought process I felt like I was getting more done in a controlled manner than moving the “whole pile at once” method I started with. After an hour and half I had it figured out and was just moving the material to grade. I stopped a few times to get out and check to make sure I wasn’t too high or getting out of specs. I finished up at 2 ½ hours. I thought it looked good and got a complemented from the homeowner and was paid $200. As I was loading up, he asked if he could give out my phone number to his friends that had similar jobs needing done and I told him yes. I am not quitting my day job and do not have a note that needs to be paid every month for the unit.
Now for the questions : Is Excavating the correct term to use on a business card? I was using an 84” smooth bucket with what I believe is a wear plate/cutting edge welded to the bottom of the bucket. The plate is welded to the bottom front of the bucket and has 5 holes across the front, for bolting teeth maybe. After the project was done, I was wondering If I should bolt on a smooth edge to save the “face” of the bucket from getting beat up. I know the wear/cutting edge that is welded on will wear from back dragging and will need to be replaced eventually, but I if I put a bolt on cutting edge on top and saved the face it would last longer. I bought the bucket used- new condition and want to take care of it. I also thought about buying a removable tooth bar, but I have a 72” tooth bucket and have my eyes on a larger tooth bucket.
As far as advertising I was just going to have business cards made and hand them out as needed. Which is more of an accepted term Skid loader skid steer or bobcat . I want a $200 minimum for every job that is within about half hour of me and a $400 minimum for longer drives than that. Is this fair? Is charging by the hole on my auger fair? I planned to at least do this until I recoup some of the initial expense of the auger then I could offer it as a service to help get future jobs. I am working on a F450 dump truck to haul small loads. Do I want to charge by the mile of a flat fee on top of the rock charge? The flat fee would have to be enough to cover fuel, insurance, maintenance and my time to be profitable.
My pc200 started to stop swinging to the right then it started it make a clunking sound. Then it stopped all together. Cat 740 Brake pump
Hi guys we have a problem with a 740 series 2 (b1p) dump truck. start it cold in the morning no brace pressure you have to rev it up for about 3 mins then you can hear the pump cavitating and then it builds pressure and works fine. basically the pump and suction hose runs dry over night because 1 morning i went to it disconnected the hoses on the pump and wer all dry. i replaced all the hoses to the tank and the o-rings the hose going down through the tank is steel and is not cracked. it has me baffeled now as i taught if anything the pressure side of the tank was at fault it would leak. Any suggestions? :Banghead
Rookie Gold Mining
Hi guys. quick question im interested in doing a season of gold mining similar to the tv series gold rush.I know gold rush is stupid and all edited and real life would be completely different. Its just something id be interested in doing for the experience not for the money or anything. I reckon it would be enjoyable i worked at quarrying before and i enjoyed that. So just wondering what you guys think as some of you are probably from them areas what is the best way to get a crack at this to get contacts instead of just landing in some Alaskan town with no direction!!
Galion roll-o-matic roller wont roll!
I am trying to help a friend get a roller going. It worked fine when it was parked a few years ago. Now he got it started but it wont move. The torque converter has fluid it it and it appears it works. The tag on torque converter says Clark. The shafts coming out of trans w/ the clutches does not turn. What does the part between the torque converter and the trans? It says it is a Governor? What is its function? I added oil to it, it was empty, can that stop rotation to trans? I am not very familiar with this machine, but I figured rotation has to go thru torque converter and the governor then trans. Thanks for any advice!! I dont have model # but it has a approx 4' dia drum on back and 3' dia. drum on front.

1960s Allis Chalmer Tl-14D After 5 Minutes Won't Move
I traded work for a 1960s vintage Allis Chalmers TL-14D. After 5 minutes the forward clutch pressure drops from 200psi to less than 100psi and it won't move. For the first 3 minutes I can spin the tires. I've changed the transmission filter, clean the screen and put in new fluid and it made no difference. It won't move in forward or reverse. I suspect the first gear clutch pack is leaking. Before I tear down, any tests I should run. Also, where can I find piston rings and seals for the clutch packs. I've rebuilt a direction reverser on a John Deere dozer, but this tractor is new to me. Any help would be appreciated. Thank-you
Case 580 nuetralizer solenoid
My 580 will keep driving through the brakes and I have found the brakes will need to be redone but the solenoid is not working because someone has cut the wires off at the solenoid. The outer housing is very loose. The machine wiring is a mess so I am looking for help on removing and rewiring the solenoid or replacing the solenoid. I figure CATS have a neutralizer button then I could just mock up a simple push button switch for 12v to operate when I needed it. The floor and brake button do not work. Any help or procedure to remove that neutralizer solenoid from the transmission?
canadian spread
so the truck I just bought which is a international 2674, with a prentice ts33 mounted behind the cab is turning out to be great for my tree service work, the power and reach of the boom is awesome, it is slow but I don't mind to bad. however it has a Canadian spread on the rear and 425 floats on the front which equals a truck that does not turn, it only has a 268ish wheelbase but it takes a 2 point turn to get into most driveways, it just pushes the front tires. can I just swap the walking beams for closer units and move the bump stops?the steering stops are all the way adjusted so the steering arms are already hitting the steering boxes
How to add front weights to a Case 580C
Hi my 580c is very light on the front end and with bushings and bearings worn on the swing frame every little rock feels like you hitting speed bumps at 100mph. I am looking at adding some weight to the front end and not having to worry about filling up the bucket with dirt every time. I removed the front cover underneath the radiator and there are 4 3/4'' bolts that will fit there. I have 1/2 plate to make a bracket and want to use some hang on IH weights or a hunk of iron. Wanted to know if any one here has done this and maybe with some pictures????
Thanks

580sl series 2
mercredi 26 mars 2014
I have a 2001 580 sl series 2, 4wd, 4n1 and I love it. I'm retired now and it's the only backhoe I kept but now it's giving me a few small problems, it won't charge and the tach stopped working. It has a fairly new Case alternator that's got about 800-1000 hours on it. About 3 months ago the my battery slowly went dead so I replaced it. Well, it wasn't the battery because it's still doing the same thing. But, all of a sudden a few weeks ago it started charging and the tach started working, but it didn't last longer than a week though. The amp gauge doesn't even flicker while it's running but when the alternator was working during that short week it showed about 14 volts. I've done the quick checks like alternator plug, then took the dash out and everything looked decent although a little dusty/dirty. I have a complete maintenance/parts manual but it hasn't helped. I know there's an exciter wire, diode and connectors but I need help with a direction. Case told me to check the alternator output (at least 10 volts) and then move backwards from there, but I'm not sure what that meant so it didn't help much. Any quick fix ideas out there? I have read posts in this forum but most were about older backhoes with some problems being close to what I'm having. I'm usually fairly good with this kind of stuff but at 65 things aren't so easy anymore. Thanks
HELP finding case 310D dozer parts
New the forum. But posted before I have a 1960 case 310D dozer that I need parts and help with.
First the front idler wheel is cutting into the "wishbone" support I cant seem to find a complete bearing kit.
(axle, bushing spacers)
2nd The differential. I opened the back plate and found the differential "Holder" is cracked on all three of the
"arm/brackets" it also has chewed up the gears. I am trying to find a complete "rearend" as I feel it would be easier
to unbolt the backend drop it and install the new. versus taking of both axles and sliding everything out and then back in.
Thanks...someone must know about this. I hear it happens alot with this dozer!!

Thoughts on kubota kx121-3
Are these a decent machine, I own excavators, just curious about the Kubota's especially this model. What's a reasonable, rough guess, life expectancy (hours) for one of these. I realize a lot depends on how it was ran and taken care of, but with that written, certain machines are tougher than others. Any little glitches to watch out for? Thanks

Dipper Stick Attachments, JD 310c Backhoe.
Can anybody shed some light on this, but first to say I'm yet to read through some manuals and research on line for this info. But mean while I'd like to ask around if anybody knows when the 1988 JD 310c Backhoes were sold from the dealer were you able to order it from JD with the dipper stick all plumbed for a hammer/thumb?
Or was this plumbing done at the dealer? or a 3rd aftermarket party? because did or does JD sell dipper stick hyd jack hammers and hyd thumbs?
I'm tossing the idea around to see if I can plumb my machine, so to see if there is a hydraulic valve I can hook into and run the hydraulic plumbing line down to the bucket so to operate a thumb/hammer.
I don't even know if the 2 wheel drive 310c can even accept anything like the hammer/thumb on the dipper stick? because of their weight? perhaps only the 4 wheel drive backhoes were plumbed.
I either look into this, or figure out another easy way to split large rocks to make stone wall rock faces.

topcon excavator 3dgps problems
We are running all Topcon, and one of our rigs is a cat 374d excavator. Has anyone heard of the Topcon system changing control files? I had it re-calibrated a couple months ago and it was in tolerance for a little bit but I noticed it would get further and further out of tolerance. after about 6-7 weeks I checked the control files and the N. and E. had been "adjusted" about a foot or two on all 6 points. The Topcon rep and I had noticed 3-4 of them had been changed when he was calibrating, and I chalked it up to operator error. Now all the points match but it is still off a foot +/- horizontal and a foot vert. Any ideas would be helpful. For the record after it was calibrated it was still off 6 feet horizontal... I corrected the control points and it hit within a tenth. This second time I corrected the control points the horizontal was within a tenth but the vertical was off a foot.

d9 ac problem
we have a d9t dozer that the ac works sometimes and will freeze you out then sometimes it will stop, when it does if your just idleing it will blow somewhat cool but when you rev the engine back up it will turn hot in about 15 to 20 seconds and be hot like the heater is on. then next time may work just fine. cat has came out and put new thermosatat switch in and both pressure switchs.
Cat 279C Highflow/Mulching head
I have a cat track skid steer 279c, We use it with a Muclhing head attachement. I came a cross a problem and am seeking some help. We damage the electrical jumper on the mulching head during transport. (This is an electrical jumper that activates the machines high flow function for the mulching head, it plugs into the attachement connection port). We found out though that the machine will run high flow even without the jumper in. This was fine for the day, but this also means that it is running my non highflow attachements in highflow as well. I.e. the rockhoud is using highflow function as well. My assumption is that the highflow sensor is jumped somewhere else....Where can i start to look, is the a secondary switch in the engine compartment? is it something that i have to have diagnossed through the computer? any help would be appricated?
Thanks

580 case backhoe
I just bought an old 1975, case 580b backhoe and the backhoe attachment will only swing to the right. If I hold the left foot pedal down to swing it to the left, it will only move if I move one of the hand controls for backhoe just slightly. My thinking is that something is wrong with the control valve for that left pedal and when I move one of the backhoe hand controls, Oil is bypassing and being back fed from one of the hand controls. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem would be.
Thanks in advance.

1960s D7E U Joint Question
Ive got a 1960s dozer....either a D7 or a D7E....no serial number plate....and the left rear serial number is covered up by a Hyster winch....so until I can remove the winch...Im not sure of the serial number. Heres what happened.....I had a U joint bolt come loose for some crazy reason....the U joint came out....and the drive joint between the 2 actual U joints swung around and broke the ears off my 7M1401 lubrication oil regulater valve body. It is a discontinued part....so I found one at salvage. My question is.....there is nothing wrong with the U Joint....found the cap in the belly pan....However...I lost all the needle bearings from the cap and both U Joint oil seals need to be replaced. Is there a place that can sell me just the needle bearings and seals? I found a couple needle bears...so I can measure/mic them for demenisions. Who can help me with this? Thanks in advance.

Fuel Consumption Comparison Cat vs JD
Trying to look at this with an open mind. Caterpillar 140M2 AWD and John Deere 772GP Tier 4, are the machines that are within our bid specs. Can anybody give me some fuel consumption figures? I know it will vary with what type of work you are doing, but taking all variables, what might your averages be? We have been averaging 4.5-7 during normal maintenance blading and light to medium snow removal, and 7.5-9 doing heavier dirtwork and heavy snowplowing.

A quick question for the veterans
Hello, I am Sam and new to the forum. I was just going around the internet looking for advice on how to break into the industry and this seemed like the perfect place to ask and get a better feel for the industry. I am not technically an operator yet, I am certified but haven't had a company give me a shot yet. Everyone want's two years of seat time, but I just don't have it yet. Basically I was certified 4 years ago (it runs out in October), the first year a company was going to hire me but they had me apply for a wage garnishment program through the state and I didn't qualify. The next two years I worked in service, I hated it but it was a job.
I was still looking for operator jobs, but there wasn't much here in Michigan and I still sometimes got the same answer "you need two years of seat time". Now I am stuck at home since I had back surgery, had 10 vertebra fused and two rods put into my spine (I know equipment is hard on the back but the doc said I should be good). As soon as I am healed enough I am going to get re certified since my current one runs out this year.
But I have the same problem as before, I still don't have much seat time. I may not be God's gift to running iron, but I'm not some oblivious kid who can't find grade either. My question is, How can you break into the industry? How did you get a company give you a break? I'm a damn hard worker, and I am not afraid to be at the end of a shovel, but how did you guys make that jump into the iron? How did you get that "magical two years" of experience?
My aim is to get into open pit mining since I'm strongest in an excavator, not to mention rock trucks and front end loaders are easy to run. I was thinking if the interview goes to the point of not having experience, I want to offer to work for a week, pro bono, to show them that I am worth the time to train. But I don't know if that's legal.
I love running Iron, and I have wanted to do it since I was about 8. When I was in school running equipment all day, I knew for sure that I was built for it. Thanks in advance guys, any advice would really help.

John Deere 310d Whine in Reverse
Hello,
Apologize if this had been addressed. I did not find on search.
I own a 95 JD 310d. It has a high pitch whine when moving in reverse, but only under load such as going up hill, or back dragging.
The reverser engages quickly both directions, pulls well in both directions, and the fluid looks very clean. No other issues other than the whine.
The whine is most like an older older truck in reverse. Sounds like it could be a normal sound for an older hoe.
Does anyone have experience with this? Getting ready to drop the oil pan on the reverser to look for oil, but also looking for some info from the more experienced JD folks here.
Thanks in advance for your info.

570LXT Series 2 new owner with questions.
I just bought a 570 LXT Series 2 4-wheel drive. Motor starts like a dream, but the machine needs a lot of maintenance. 3pt pivots are shot and the bucket needs some rehab. No E-brake and the 4WD does not disengage.
I have no Manuals at this time and need a little help with some immediate issues. I changed all of the oils except hyd at this time. Both front planetaries are leaking, left worse than right. How hard is it to remove the planetary assemblies? Will they slide off the drive shaft splines when the king pins are removed. Then what.
Also, what is the part number and amount for the rear axle friction modifier. The parts guy at the Case CE dealer said he had never heard of it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Case 850 G shutoff problem
I have a Case 850G bulldozer that keeps dieing when you start it. If you keep the key in the cranking position (not good) the dozer will keep running. As soon as you release the key to the run position the engine dies. Does that sound like a fuel shutoff solenoid problem, an ignition key problem, or a fuel problem. Will change fuel filters and see what happens. Might even try the tank cap off to see if it is a tank problem. Seems to be electrical though.

Could someone please advise me on where to check the hydraulic level on this equipment. Can't seem to find a sight bubble or even a dipstick. What and where do I look.
Coffee additives
Any one that knows me know I am a Coffee - holic . If anyone ever needed a caffeine intervention I am it . Morning , noon or night .. all year long . If I'm not over 100 degrees , There is a cup in my hand . That also means every once in a while I will change it a bit .
My big change is a teaspoon to a table spoon of Hershey's Chocolate syrup which the Lovely Mrs Tiny Keeps for me . The lovely Mrs. Tiny has been using my coffee additive for cooking and baking which I don't have a problem with because I benefit from that . I have also found out that "The Kid " has been using for his ice cream and I get ZERO benefit from that
Couple that with the weather which has been moody as a teenage girl between boyfriends , So much so that we haven't been to the store for 3 weeks . All of this means we were out of Chocolate syrup . So I poured a cup of regular brew and with about my normal stuff . However my mind started working about how I was going to fix this , Bingo!!!! the answer was in the fridge .
I remembered the Lovely Mrs. Tiny had some semi sweet chocolate chips in the fridge . Both of them Hersey's so It's gotta work . Went to the fridge and grabbed a hand full and was pretty pleased with myself , My superior intellect figured a work around and I still got what I wanted and deserved even after the brat had stolen my supply of sweet goodness . I sat down and dropped a dozen or so chips in that cup of hot coffee . Then I thought ahh just put them all in .
Took my spoon and stirred like I always had . Churned the pile of sweetness like normal then laid the spoon down . I looked up at the computer monitor and saw that SOMEONE WAS WRONG ON THE INTERNET , THIS CANNOT STAND ;) . Took care of some web site work . I reached down in the middle of all this and took a sip of my coffee and it tasted like straight coffee . Thought It just needed stirred again . Another sip and straight coffee . humm .
So now I know something is up . So I drank the now guzzling temp coffee down to see what was up . When I saw the bottom of the cup it looked nasty . The chips had only melt into little piles of brown goo . It looked like umm , well you can guess . So here's the kicker . I was suppose to stay out of the chips because because the Lovely Mrs. Tiny had something planned for them . So going to the kitchen to clean the mess out of the bottom of the cup would not work , She was there . I wanted no part of the hearing damage that would happen , I opted for the little bathroom .
I turned the hot water full on and let it run in that cup . Nothing melted or moved . Using the towel would insure death so I grab a handful of toilet paper . It took 3 gobs of paper to get that stuff out . I tossed them in the trash then looked back , I nearly gagged at the site of that brown goo and toilet paper . The Lovely Mrs. Tiny still can't figure out why I volunteered to take out the trash without being asked .
Needless to say we are headed to town today for supplies .

Hydrostatic drive dozers
I know there is a thread about steering , but my question is about longevity. I am currently looking at buying a 10 ton machine with hydrostatic transmission. I am looking at Komatsu and Deere as well as Cat. I found 2 Komatsu with 3300 hrs or so and the Deere has 5800 hrs. I have requested the HST trans to be sampled and the u/c be measured ( these machines are 4 to 10 hours away) I am having some trouble getting feed back from them. Machines look good but I know I'm not buying a picture. The Deere has a newer u/c looking at the photos and the money on all three are close. Are these things bullet proof or should I push on for the HST oil samples. My last machine was a clutch brake unit.
Bobcat S185 No heat
New S185 January 2013. Less than 200 hrs in November and no heat from heater & engine would not get to operating temp. Local dealer has been working on it since with input from Bobcat factory. New thermostat & EGR unit. They had me clamp off coolant line from EGR to radiator and had heat. They claim 3 or 4 other units in this area with same problem. They want to reroute some coolant lines but no factory parts for this fix and no service bulletins. 275 hrs on unit today. Suggestions.
Scraper Questions
I have a contractor working in my landfill that is using seven 631E's to move 330,000 cubic yards of shale. I have run scrapers off and on over the years but I'm no operator. The contractor is ripping the shale 3 feet deep across the floor of the excavation. Is this an accepted practice? I was raised to believe this is a no-no, as the bowl will not fully load. They also run the nastiest cut I have ever seen. The scraper hands never drag the haul road and they carry the bowls at the highest level. Am I being to critical? What are your thoughts?
question about hydrostatic drives
I am aware that in a larger conventional dozer steering under load can wear out your steering clutches and your transmission, does anyone know if the same is true for the smaller dozers with hystatic drives?
I'm asking because i do a lot of Ripping with ours and because its on a plantation it has to be as straight as possible, so i have to constantly make slight direction adjustments to ensure that the line is straight. And am concerned that it may eventually wear things out.

Cat TH 103 Wheel End Failure
Hello. I have spent years reading everyone else's posts and after seeing how many people are willing to help thought I would pose a question of my own. Thanks to all in advance.
I am in the process of assembling a wheel end on an all wheel steer TH 103 lift. The original spindle broke clean so I ordered the updated parts from my Cat dealer. The problem is that the left side "Steering case" is not available mew or used. Has anyone run into this or maybe have advice??? I am not sure of the axle manufacturer or if I could even get parts from them. Help!!!

Hydraulic prob;em with my Hitatchi UHO 83
I have a UHO83 digger. When you pull back the lever to lift the main boom it goes up and suddenly stops. When the lever is returned to the neutral position and pulled again the boom moves up again then stops again and so on. One of the track motors does the same. I have more than enough hyd oil in the machine, the slew and dipper arm work fine. The machine has two large hyd pumps. A tech has pulled off one of the pumps took it away and concluded that it was worn but not enough to cause problems. Any ideas Whanau.

Lessons learned
lundi 24 mars 2014
Just seeing what others have learned the hard way.
My first lesson in the field was make sure you can get the fill plug out in one piece before you take the drain plug out.
My most reasent was don't park your truck by the machine your gonna move. Especially if you aren't aware that the machine only pulls on one track until warmed up. I did get it stopped before I hit my truck.

Dayotn wheels spindle nut torque specs
I'm doing a brake job on my 87' 357 Pete. I was just wondering what the correct spindle nut torque is suppose to be. I was told torque the first nut to 250 ft. lbs. to set bearing and wheel seal then back nut off and reset at 50 ft. lbs. install locking washer then second nut at 50 ft. lbs. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Aux Hyd Not Working 277B
I have a Cat 277B with 1600 hrs. I haven't used the auxiliary hydraulics in about 2 years. Last time I did, it worked just fine. I hooked up a sweeper attachment today, and there's no hydraulic flow. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to fix it? I'm sure I have to raise the cab...
Rates for LTM 1160 or Grove GMK 6250.
Hello,
Does anybody have an idea on what the base rental rates would be for either a Liebherr LTM 1160 or Grove GMK 6250? I know it's widely dependent on which part of the country your in but I'm just looking for a ball park idea. Don't include trucking or permits.
Thanks
Matt

I been out of the game too long mate, no contacts any more but if I was looking for a job I'd contact this mob . . .

They work out of Bundy and have good gear . . . the boss is a cattle-man . . . or was, it's probably been taken over by his young bloke.
They used to shift the 65Komatsu for us way back and they seemed to run like clockwork.
All the best with it and keep us posted.
Cheers.

Auto trans Fluid for Hydraulics
Given the expence of hygard which is recommended for JD crawlers Hydraulic and hydrostatics ,i wonder if using agri trans oils would be as good a thing here.
I bought 180 litres of agritrans for $480 ,from Super Cheap http://ift.tt/1fUFyFd
Hygard is what i put into my hydostatic trans and it cost $136.00 per 20 litres,i need 150 lires for teh hydraulics which become expensive.. around $1100.00
Has anyone got some hindsight to share about agri trans for a hydraulic system ?It says on the labelling it will work for hydraulic systems and it is 10W-20 where as the Hygard is 10W30 ,but iv'e learnt that Tractor fluids like Hygard are actually better than conventional oils...It sounds like i have already found my answer, but since ive already bought the stuff, opinions would be nice...Or experience as well..
Thanks

VOLVO L90 Loader random intermittent stalls
Hey guys my crew are having problems with our L90 loader.
the issue is that the engine will randomly cut out, to get her going again you must select neutral and turn the ignition off.
she will then either fire up immediately or take about 2 cranks at around 3 seconds each.
i have checked fuel filters and fuel at the common inlet, disconnected cleaned and reconnected many many plugs and fuses.
it happens when sitting still and selecting gears or when travelling across ground.
she has a belt driven fuel lift and low pressure pump.
there was a thread on here with the same loader same problem but the bloke that started it never got back with his findings :(
any help would be awesome

International 560 engine swap
dimanche 23 mars 2014
Hi
I recently purchased an International 560 loader with an IH817C bad engine. It has a broken timing gear which sheared the key on the crankshaft and bent several valves and pushrods. I'm finding parts are scarse or non existent. Gaskets are very expensive. Is a Cummins a good option. Could a 855 block be put in that or is it adaptable. Would the bell housing from the Cummins fit the IH. Also would the splined drive plate torque from the IH bolt up to the Cummins flywheel.
Any thoughts or information on this would be appreciated !
