New Tires for my Tractor

mercredi 27 janvier 2016

My rears on my tractor are worn and thin. Current size is a 420/70/24 R4 tire on a 15" wide wheel. This tire has become a bear to find and when found is Butt _ _ _ Expensive... to the tune of about $862 each, not counting tax and shipping.

That said, this is a 4wd tractor running 10-16.5 R4 tires up front. Would there be an issue moving the rears up to 17.5x24 R4 tires?

I have a conversation going on another site about this, but I brought it here because I have noticed that a John Deere 110 TLB (2000-2012 models) run the 10-16.5/420.70.24 tire combination and it is a 4wd chassis tractor.

If it works for one manufacturer, would it work for another, or would gearing be different thereby changing the drive line rotation ratios?

Current machine information
Kubota L2950 DT GST 4WD with Loader
Rear tires - 420/70/24 R4 - (47.1" tall with Rolling Circumference of 148")
Front tires - 10-16.5 Skid Steer Tires -- (30.78" tall with Rolling Circumference of 96.69")

Proposed 17.5x24 Rear Tires - (48" tall with Rolling Circumference of 150.75")

I just want to make sure that I am not putting undue stress and binding on the 4wd drive line by mismatching the tire sizes on this machine.
