Champion 565T grader blade wearing through

vendredi 1 janvier 2016

Hi Guys
I am new here and I am looking for someone with grader expertise. I purchased a Champion 565T grader for a road builder, road maintenance rig. It is in great shape, new tires, new paint and really well cared for. We were looking at the blade today and found that the moldboard is made of 1/2" steel and in the center of the curve, about 2" above the cutting edge, the blade has worn to about 1/8" thick. This thinned area is probably 6-8" high the length of the blade. It must be from years of grading and has to be somewhat normal. What is the proper way to fix it? We probably won't run it more than 100 hours a year so it is pretty much in retirement here. I was thinking about having a piece of 1/4" x 12" flat rolled to fit the angle and then just weld it in, does this sound right? My mechanic says it looks like the same radius as a 36" pipe. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
