Chicago Pheumatic CP72H 3/4 impact

Chicago Pheumatic CP72H 3/4 impact

Why is it so?

Yair . . .

I am always interested in the thinking behind machinery design.

If anyone is interested in land clearing gear, if you have a few minutes, have a look at these clips.

The two rakes that obviously work well. They utilise the principle of material passing across the face of angled disks.

Nothing new here, various manufacturers have been building them for years.

The latest one though looks like it has been assembled/designed ass-backwards with the frame and carrier arms for the disks in frontof the disk where they could conceivably impede the flow of material and the bearing housings are working right there in the $hit.

It works fine though on those little windrows and looks a well built machine. It could probably roll a bigger windrow if the frame and carrier arms were behind the disks in the conventional position.

Am I missing something here?

Any one care to comment on (what to me) looks to be a step backward in the evolution of a very simple implement

Cheers.

D8T dirty transmission oil

Hello,
we have recently acquired a used 12,000 hour D8T with recent trans and TC rebuild history.
Machine had been sitting still for 2 years in tropical environment and we expected some rain may have entered compartments.
Trans oil looked clean, but we changed oil and filters as a precaution.

The machine has now worked about 4 hours, pushing beautifully and not over heating engine or trans.
About 4 hours in a warning light came on and read-out says blocked transmission filter.

Pulled the filters out, ( TC and trans) the trans filter had let go; ruptured along the join inside.
The oil is very dark in filters and when we drained some of it.
Pulled suction screen, all it has is fibre which appears to be from the filter where it let go, but no foreign material.

Haven't had a chance to get an oil sample yet, but plan to change the oils/ filters again ( using recommended Cat 30W for our climate).
Also plan to add magnets as none are fitted.
Any suggestions are welcome.
thanks Michael.

I am looking into buying this 951B Track loader which is about 3hrs away. The seller sent me these pictures & is not sure where the serial # tags are located. Any idea where they are located on the machine on a machine of this vintage? On my D4D there is one on down below the instrument panel & one on the back of the machine. I just wanted to have him give me the serial # so I can check the age of the unit.

Komatsu wa320-1 losing brakes over night

Working on a komatsu wa320-1 and every morning we have to refill the brake reservoir and bleed the brakes the mastereo cylinder was rebuilt by the previous mechanic when this problem first came up so my suspension is its leaking past the Pistons in the brakes. I tried blocking off the brakes one axel at a time but both times came up with the same result empty reservoir and no puddle on the floor. Is it possible I need to do the brakes in both axels or am I missing something

Tech Question D5G XL

My Dozer had been sitting for about 4 months. I started it up and the transmission light is going off on the dash and it's being limited on track speed. When I push the button to increase track speed it'll only go to about 1.5 and no further. Same in reverse. Anyone have any ideas? Hydraulic filter has been changed already. I would rather be able to fix it myself and not take it to my Cat dealer, but transmissions & electrical are out of my league.

dead case 580 e

Hey guys and gals
Last week I brought a case 580 e for the little campground I run and was proud as punch.
Had power shuttle just done and all ram seals replaced payed 10 k and was ready to get to work. Alas 5 days later it has all ended in tears it started with intermittent grinding noise from the diff only lasted a minute then went away.
next morning drives fine so off I go again hour later grinding back and machine stops back wheels will shudder but not move. Try in reverse move freely then starts doing same thing so I get it off the road and life her up (why do we always say her) wheels spin freely with slight crunchy feel wheels will go when driven off ground. So off comes seat and fllor etc remove top diff plate oil very very low no chipped teeth apparent but I find a half circle of metal in bottom of casing about 3 inches across. Have no idea where it came from. Its only fair to tell u I have a masters in bizz not movers :) any tips hints suggestions of course the bloke I got it off wants nothing to do with it

320DL - No Start Condition

Have any of you came across this problem with the C6.4 engines?, also came across on the C4.4 and C6.6 engines on D4k tractors and 930H Wheel Loaders

The engine timing is correct, the speed/timing sensors read perfect, no error codes, filters are new, fuel supply good, for those equipment where i can read the fuel supply pressure reads around 17~19 psi while cranking, yet the Fuel Rail Pressure reads 0 PSI

On the ET i can check the pump solenoid and it reads OK, i can hear it activate and deactivate during this test, injector tests also proves injectors are working fine.

What baffles me the most was the reason i had to troubleshoot this excavator was because it took a while to start at first, and when start the operator said it shuts down intermittently, now one of the timing sensor at the flywheel wasn't reading and after checking the harness was at fault, after repairing it the engine started fine after one turnover.

One day later the operator called and said it wasn't starting at all. After checking again the timing sensor on the fuel rail pump was not reading. After disassembling around the pump to get to the sensor the harness and connector was also broken, I also noticed the sensor seemed a bit loose and that it too was broken! Now to remove an entire pump to change this sensor is no easy feat. I did find a short-cut to remove that broken sensor and replace a new one but i shortened the bolt and shaved half it's head off, also modified my wrench to work in that fine space and it worked like a charm.

Everything on the ET was top-notch, all the sensors reading, no errors, but while cranking 0 fuel rail pressure = No Start. Long story short I was told to change the injector pump
After changing the pump the engine started fine, fuel pressure etc. read great.
But it's strange, i mean do these pumps just fail without any notice? One day the engine started fine, next day it's dead.

Australian 'Mine Spec' Loaders!

mardi 29 septembre 2015

Hi all,

My farming property is located within a very rich Gold and Mineral producing area of Victoria, Australia.

Being that my principle source of income is Primary Production, I also hold several Mineral Exploration leases over various parts of the property which I wish to utilize in an effort to diversify my current income.

My question being, does my current loader need to satisfy Mining specifications in regards to 'safety equipment standards' within the machine?

Given that my intended plan would be for 'Surface Operations' on private property, although the entity would be run as a commercial business under my current 'Primary Producers' banner.

My current machine is a CL130TC loader from Champion Machinery Aust which i use for various duties in farming around the property and is a very capable machine.

The company informs me that they have the CL130TC available now with 'Mining Spec' certification such as Fire Suppression systems, emergency stops etc.

Im very safety conscious and like the idea of these extra safety features even for farming....I could easily 'trade-up for minimal outlay', but am I required to have them?

I will do some more research when time permits, but im just wondering if anyone here has had much experience with this issue regarding front-end loaders?

Whats the go in the U.S regarding this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Regards

Bob :)

Adding Air Conditioning

Hey guys and gals, has anyone ever added some sort of aftermarket air conditioning to their hoe? I have a 95 case 580 sk, and ive been bouncing the idea around of upgrading to a newer 590, but the damn thing works so well, its hard to get rid of it. Besides a few pins and bushings, and a couple of seals needing to be replaced, the only thing im really lacking is air conditioning.

So, anyone ever add anything? Im hoping to stay away from looking for a complete wrecked machine, cause they are pretty sparse around here.

Thanks!

John Deere 1982 410 backhoe forward power lacking

Compact overheats until the hood is opened...

So on behalf of a family member, who is technically savvy, he has a 2012 Wacker Neuson 28z3, S/N AG05746, somewhere near 500hours from new.

After about 30/40mins the 28z3 sounds the engine temperature alarm, once i open the engine cover the alarm stops after a minute or two with the engine still running

Diagnostics so far...

1. Blown out the radiator to ensure that it has airflow, radiator fins all in like new condition
2. Verified the radiator fan by verifying that a piece of paper will 'stick' to the radiator thus confirming airflow
3. Removed the thermostat and ran the machine to see if the condition re-occurs, which it does
4. I have confirmed it is a genuine overhead rather than a sensor issue by measuring the temp of the thermostat body when the alarm goes off...saw approx 235deg
5. When removing the thermostat did a visual check of the thermostat housing and inside radiator filler which did show any residue or debris inside the cooling system, it all looked just like new...the coolant was clear and like new
6. The engine cover is in good condition and the front and rear vent's are as designed and not blocked or modified

The hydraulic filter was changed about 20hrs ago, the engine oil and filter changed 5hrs ago, and the air filter is clean. There are no obvious signs of any modification or prior repairs and the machine is fully functional..the machine is I believe 2012 and has 540hrs on it. The typical air temp during these time when the alarm sounds is 80-90deg

I've pondered this and can't seem to figure it out... runs hot till the hood is opened...? WTF

Anyone seen anything similar?

Can a crane solve my problem?

Hello,

I have a question concerning the average crane's 'dexterity', for want of a better word. I want to lift and place a caravan into a garden by going over the top of a bungalow. However, there are some power leads in the way, coming down to the back of my bungalow from a pole at the back of the garden (so they'd snag the bottom of the caravan as it came down). Can a crane operator overcome this problem? Is it a common practice to, for example, attach a chain to the bottom of the caravan and pull it to allow the caravan to tilt and navigate the power leads? Or maybe there's a way of rotating the caravan whilst on the crane so that it goes in pointing downwards and then gets rotated just before it hits the deck?

I'm sure I'm not the first person who's had this problem, but I thought I'd ask someone in the profession if it's at all possible.

Thanks for your time.

Miles Forman

Bobcat T190 Park Brake

Hey guys I am new to this forum and from what I've seen looks like a very good one I hope to help out anyone I can in the future and hope someone could help me out. Have a T190 sn 531615935, with pedal controls also. I can't get the park brake to work. Fuses and relays are good. Has no codes. Has new switch. Switched out ecu by your left thigh on frame. and the touch pad in the upper left corner. The machine is not a deluxe. Thought maybe charge pressure was an issue but bobcat said for my machine its 360psi high idle and that's what it has. Checked it at the control valve and have 290psi. Anyway you can get into the machine with the seat bar up cab up and all. Start the machine and right away be able to move it. Seat bar doesn't matter and you don't have to press the green operate button. Seat bar works as it should for the bucket lift and tilt. So its as if it is in free wheeling mode it will just roll on an incline. checked to see if the case strain filters from the drive motors were clogged up and putting back pressure on the motors and it wasn't. Had a little metal debris but other than that it was fine. Machine runs and operates great but has no park brake. Checked coil on stem valve on the service brake valve and it has 5v no mater if the switch to the park brake is on or not. Not sure what its supposed to read with it on or off. I took that coil and valve off and put 12v of power and it works just fine. I think maybe it has to be bypassing somewhere. You hear a lot of people having trouble getting the brakes off of these machines and here I am trying to get them on haha. With my gauge on the standby pressure port (removed charge pressure sensor) when I turn the brakes on pressure drops about 20psi for a second then goes back up. Each time you flip the switch. Only thing I can think of is maybe its bleeding passed the valve some how. If anyone can help please do thanks for your time. Ive been working on this thing for a little while now an part of the reason it takes so long to is I don't have access to hydraulic schematics and electrical schematics. :Pointhead

JLG 450 AJ boom lift

I have a hydraulic question. The platform that you stand in rotates left or right using a Helac rotator. It is very weak and requires a push sometimes just to get it to rotate either way. There are two hydraulic lines attached to the rotator. I detached one line, let it bleed into a bucket, open the control valve to put pressure to the other line, making it rotate in that direction right to the end of rotation. I held the switch to keep the system pressure on the rotator. The fluid kept going into the bucket after the rotator was at it end of travel. Do you think that's because the seals are leaking in the rotator or is there possibly a bypass when you get to the end of rotation? It's a lot of work to take the rotator out and I just don't want to do that for nothing. Please give me your thoughts.

2-71 Detroit will not start.

So at school we have this pile of crap 2-71 Detroit that came off of a dredge. I changed the oil and fuel filters and pulled the valve cover and found a stuck injector. I had a set of 9290 injectors from an 8V92 i'm currently in the process of rebuilding. So I replaced both injectors with the 9290s, the ones in it were N45s. Flapper is open and it looks like it's getting fuel because you can hear the injectors squirt when the engine is cranked. It won't fire on any start aids either, which baffles me. Any thoughts from the mechanics 3 times my age?

I am looking for advice on how to quote or estimate customer repair jobs. I know on certain repairs you can hard quote, but some troubleshooting jobs just cant be quoted the same way, so do you just estimate a ballpark number? How do you go about quoting? Advice on first equipment purchase

Thanks to all the time you guys put into helping each other on this site. I enjoy reading this forum.
I have been saving several years for a loader to clear personal property of about 10 acres.
I need to cut rough roads on a hill side, take out trees, as well as dig a small pond etc. Almost
½ of land is in a flood plain, but it does have good drainage and the ground gets hard. I also want to dig
A forge across a large creek as well.
My budget at the moment is about 13K. However the more I read on undercarriage repairs the more
Worried I become. And to confuse myself more I don’t see a lot of difference in loaders that range from
10K to 20K as far as hours and condition go.
I could sell off some stuff, save up more and spend more up front (E.g. 20K) if I could get a
Machine with a good undercarriage.
I found a 1987 Cat 933B with 2700 hours for 12,900,and the ad states {needs P & B turn and sprockets**.
I have read some opinions this may be a waste and its best to replace everything.
I may be able to handle replacing the tracks, but sprockets I don’t think so.
I guess what I am looking for is a ball park figure on cost for tracks and sprockets.
And since the bushings are worn out are the rollers likely in need of replacement also?
Also finally what would a rough estimate of a complete undercarriage replacement cost at a dealer or
Independent shop in the southeast?
I will appreciate any advice you can give.
Thank You
Johnny Walker

threw a track on my Hyunday R130 LC3

Threw my first track the other day. Ive been trying to limp along until I got this job finished so I could replace the chains and sprockets and idler assembly. Naturally, I threw the track where Im up against a building, got the temp power to worry about and the road so I don't have much room to operate. I guess it could be worse. I thought that if I removed the zerk fitting, I could push the idler back and get the chain back on. No matter what we do, I cant get the idler to budge and that's with pushing on it with the bucket. I notice there is a large bolt where the zerk is. Im going to loosen that next but I figured, removing the zerk would do the trick. Just have to figure out the correct size wrench to bring (probably bring all my tools and still not have the correct size). Could there be something else?

Hello. I'm new here I hope this is the right spot to post this. I have an olddddd jlg 437 boom lift with a Wisconsin gas and propane engine. It has an electric choke mounted to the exhaust which I think is the reason the lift isn't running. Any help would be appreciated.

Help locating grease line termination

I recently bought a used 325 Serial# 514015603. It was missing a few parts that I’ve now replaced, but the one I thought would be the easiest is killing me. There is a grease line for which I cannot find the termination. It starts at a zerk in the front by the boom. It’s #27 and #30 on the attached location or even a photo of where this line terminates?

Ride control: JD 410J

I have a JD 410J and the ride control is not working on it. When I flip the switch the bucket drops a few inches but then it won't 'float' when traveling. It rides just as rough with it on as it does when its off. Thus just started recently. No other problems and no codes. Is this a common problem?

590SM fuel issues

My 590SM runs very good until I push it or load it up. When I try to dig into a pile of dirt and give it more fuel it bogs down and starts to stutter even when I back off and sometimes stalls. If I use a lower gear 1 or 2 and let the momentum of the machine dig into the pile, I can scoop it up and dump it in my dump truck. When it does bog down I either have to shut down the machine and wait about 30 sec then restart and all is well or sometimes I have to shut it down and loosen the fuel connection at the injector pump after the fuel filter and pump the fuel pump to get out air. After that it starts fine until I push it again. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line from the pump to the tank, removed the pick up assembly from the tank and checked for debris or a blockage but all seems fine. No smoke, black or white when it happens. It just seems that it is starving for fuel. Is it possible that they sold me a bad fuel pump? When it's running good I can tack it out at 2300 and hold it there with no problems - it's only under load that this happens.

Anyone ever have this problem or have any ideas?

BobCat 863 changing the glo plugs

dimanche 27 septembre 2015

Is it necessary to remove the injector fuel lines to replace the plugs? If not is there a recommended tool to remove them? There doesn't seem to be enough clearance to get a deep socket in and not enough throw room for a ratchet.

How would you bleed the air out of the injector fuel tubes after replacing the glo plugs?
Thanks, JB

Volvo ec35 7500# mini excavator sudden hydraulics loss question

Hopefully somebody has some experience with my situation. I lost hydraulics to everything and the park lock is engaged so that the sticks that move you forward/reverse are locked. I was tracking along made a brief stop and the machine seemed to "lock itself" and no hydraulics work to the boom or the blade. Im wondering if its electric or hydraulic. Traced fuses and connections. Checked the left locking armrest and seems to be ok. When you click the armrest down to put it in mode to move and run the boom there is a clicking in a relay in the fuse box. Could it simply be this relay or any other suggestions? Engine starts as normal. Hydraulic pump seems to have some flow. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Rigging sling questions.

I have this sling and wanting to sell it but don't know what its worth or how to explain what is is. Im wanting to find out whats the capacity and is it called an endless 4 ply sling or would it be considered an 8 ply? Its got a string in the center that i think is to tell if it has been stretched over capacity, What would I call that? This thing is 60 feet long and 2" wide. Thanks for any help I can get.

Extender Hoe NonOriginal Control Valve-Help Please

I recently bought a MF 50H Backhoe with an extender Hoe that did not work, I have been working on some of it's other problems and now I am up to this Extender Hoe not working issue. The single spool type valve is attached to the right hand floor. When I move lever in either direction no movement in the extender and no difference in engine noise, so I removed the two hydraulic lines from the cylinder and connected them together with a valve between. With this valve shut, engine running and move the valve lever and again no difference in the engine noise or pressure relief valve releiving. This valve appears to be non original, just bolted to the floor. This valve has 4 hoses attached , 2 going to the extender cylinder and one going to a "Tee" that has been fitted in the pressure line going to the backhoe multi spool valve and the other hose going to a "T" fitted to the multi spool valve outlet.
The extender hoe single spool valve has these markings on it's ID plate.

I think this valve might be faulty, I cannot find any information on it. I am hoping someone might know something about these valves or where I might find some information about what type of valve it is.

Hitachi UH083 not turning right properly - Any ideas?

Hi, I'm asking this question on behalf of my father who isn't the most computer literate guy around, he's an opal miner and owns a Hitachi UH083, its old and breaks all the time but he continues to fix and keep digging away. Recently we were out in the field and machine was working fine, it then started leaking a lot of hydraulic oil out of the turn table and it wasn't turning right at a good speed. The old man has since taken out the swing motor and replaced a bunch of seals and bearings at the bottom and the leak has now stopped, however the slow turning right is still happening. it turns left with no problems. Does anyone have any advice on what would cause this problem of the motor not turning right at the correct speed and the best and cheapest fix?

Well we hit that pinnacle point where it is just absolutely time to re-deck the ol trailer. Getting really old jumping through the holes while getting loaded or unloaded. I found a local sawmill who cut me oak wood for $1 a board foot. Cost us 300 for the wood and 40 for all the screws. other than all the labor not a bad price for a new deck.

John Deere 310B won't move & no hydraulics

My dad has a JD 310B & the other day it busted a line. He had the line repaired and put it back on, started it up & nothing would work (no forward-no reverse-no backhoe or loader movement) he let it run a little more and it busted the metal line again. It's like its building up to much pressure. I checked screen & it was clean, I replaced both filters, repaired line. Still nothing, I'm afraid to let it run too long cause it will probably bust another line, but nothing will work. Can anybody help. It's seems to me like it might not be flowing the hydraulics correctly & maybe not returning fluid & has to much pressure for lines and nothing will work.

D7 3T Cat (around 1954), need help finding parts specifically a radiator

Hello,
I am on a mission for my father to help him find parts for his new (old) dozer. He is unsure of the year and thinks it is around a '54. He picked it up at auction last week and it seems to have a water leak. He will be taking it apart this week to figure out if it's one of the tanks or the core or what have you. And my job is to figure out where to find parts for it, specifically a radiator at the moment. Does anyone have any idea where to get parts for it?
Thanks :)

Fuel gauges

If you run a machine long enough you should know how many gallons a day it uses. Just because the fuel gauge quit is no excuse for running out of fuel. I have been called out twice this month to start a machine that ran out of fuel. Both the gauges didn't work. One was backed up to the fuel tank.

Disappearing gear oil

I'm having a slight problem with my New Holland B110 losing its transmission oil.

It's a 2007 machine with the powershift transmission, and over the last 3-4 months I have been having to top up the gear oil (ATF Dexron III) every few weeks. There is no signs of it leaking anywhere, the machine is completely dry underneath.

It seems to happen suddenly, the oil level can be perfect one day and the next day there will be nothing at all showing on the dipstick, and if I start the machine there will be a slight squealing noise from the transmission and it takes 4-5 litres of oil to get it back to its proper level.

I have removed the plug from the flywheel housing a couple of times but it appears to be completely dry in there as well.

Has anyone heard of a similar problem or have any suggestions as to where the oil could be going?

Thanks in advance

Does anyone know anything about 1996 vintage Gehl 830 rough terrain forklift?

Dear forum members,

I am looking for an all-terrain type forklift that can lift a few thousand pounds 20 to 30 feet high for a year or two on my home addition project. I would use it like lightly for a few hours per week. The price of fairly decent looking telehandlers is beyond the budget.

I have found a 1996 Gehl 830 locally that will hoist 8000 lbs 30 feet high. Perkins engine (not sure if diesel or gas) that puts out a little blue smoke when engine is revved up. Brakes need work. I cannot find any information anywhere on the Gehl 830 machine.

Does anyone have any experience of knowledge of the Gehl 830 or this vintage Gehl all-terrain vintage? I could live with the blue smoke if the machine continues to operate well.

Thank you for your comments. I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Roger.

PTO pump issue

Good morning all. I recently purchased an '88 L9000 dump. My issue is the dump won't lift. PTO will engage, and the air valve controlling the spool on the pump is clean and moving the full stroke. I noticed with the truck shut off, if I move the air lever in the cab to lift, I can hear air bubbling into the hydraulic oil reservoir. Could this be as simple as an o-ring on the spool valve, or am I looking at a new pump? Truck dumped fine when I bought it.
Thanks in advance.

Looking for user info on 2004-2008 Case 1150 dozer, interested in buying one

vendredi 25 septembre 2015

Good day to you all.
I want to thank those of you whom had replied to my last post (Getting into the excavation business) and I appreciate all your professional thoughts and opinions.
I was pretty much set on making the plunge and getting into a 700H Deere. Then right before I signed the paperwork, a friend said before I do anything look into a Case 1150.
So I did my hourly internet search and found a handful of Case 1150's in the years between 2004 to 2008.
Interestingly these machines seem to be less expensive than CAT or Deere.
I am turning to all of you once again for your timely wisdom.
Please give your unbiased opinions on this as the clock is ticking. :usa

I want to thank you all once again for your thoughts.

Best to you all.

580CK Fluid Leak

Hey everyone,

I have a 1967 Case 580CK Loader/Backhoe. I have a hydraulic oil leak between the bellhousing and rear of the engine. So before I rip the front end apart and drop the oil pan and so forth, is there even supposed to be hydraulic fluid in the bell housing? The leak is small, drips slowly. Sometimes stops dripping all together until the tractor is started. I have heard that some tractors have oil in this area and even have starters that have internal seals to stop the oil from leaking out...I am at a loss. If I let the tractor sit for a week or more, I will lose so much hydraulic oil that it will not move until I add more. See the pictures I have included. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
