Good day all! I have just joined the forum, as I have been searching online for a wiring diagram for my CD5B without success but came across this forum, which seems to offer some excellent advice and opinions. I am hoping someone may have a wiring diagram.
A little background: I am an Aussie but live in Laos and bought my CD5B in early 2011 when my wife and I decided to establish a coffee/avocado farm. I bought the dozer from a Lao friend who has an earthmoving/construction business and he had recently bought it at an auction in Thailand (one of a pair). The dozer looked pretty tired when I bought it, but has been brilliant. I was originally looking for a second hand D5 but chose to buy a much smaller dozer for very sound reasons: here in Laos, there is a very strong cultural tendency to destroy the natural environment ASAP; if it has wings, legs or fins, they'll shoot/trap and eat it and if it has branches and leaves, they'll cut it down and burn or sell it. Our farm blocks have some patches of beautiful near-virgin forest and I wanted to ensure that these remained as a sanctuary for the dwindling wildlife in the area. I decided that if I bought a dozer that was not capable of pushing over trees greater than about 15cm (6in) then there was no risk that my workers could run amok with it in my absence and destroy the forest. The Furukawa cleared the scrubby vegetation off the block easily and has done a brilliant job on building access tracks and drainage. It has easily paid back the purchase price.
The only problems I have had (aside from the usual hydraulic line failures) has been a starter motor clutch failure and more recently, the batteries failing to charge, and/or losing their charge rapidly. While it is possible that the alternator is faulty (I have not yet checked it), I can see that the original wiring is in bad condition and has possibly been modified at some stage, so I suspect this is the problem. I would like to rip it all out and replace it but I am reluctant to do this without a wiring diagram. The wiring seems to be very simple, but I would nevertheless like to have the diagram as a reference before I start. While reinstalling the wiring, I would also like to make a few changes, such as adding a voltmeter/ammeter and probably a driving/spot light, so a wiring diagram will help me figure out the best way to include these features.
Can anyone help out with the wiring diagram?
