I have an old 642 with the inline engine and pump set-up like every other skid steer out there.
I worked on a neighbors newer Bobcat, it has the engine sitting sideways with a big belt.
Damn thing packed so tight, changing the muffler took 2 hours and just about every trick I have.
So why did they change ? I see another maintanance part (the belt) and the tensioner, as problems.

When and WHY did Bobact turn their engine sideways ?
