John Deere 544G & 624G loaders

mardi 31 mai 2016

I have been looking for used loaders and have narrowed down to a John Deere 544G and 624G. I have tried the 624G at the dealers lot. It seems to be a decent loader, however there is some electrical problem for the shifting, bucket level stop, and boom float. They can get the thing to go in all gears, but manually, not with the shifter The dealer said they will get this all straightened out before they sell it. What is any ones thoughts of ongoing problems like this with this type of loader? Other than these things the loader seems great.
I have talked to another dealer about a 544G, but have not seen it, other than pictures and it seems to look okay and dealer says it's good. (famous last words).
These are a ways away from me, but that's about always the case around here. 624 is 265 miles and 544 is 245 miles not in the same directions though.
Just wondering if anyone has some ideas?
Thanks!
FWD

Veteran new to the industry

Hello I will be getting out of the Marine Corps in July and going to school for cranes when I get out, Heavy equipment operating is what I currently do for the Corps.

The school I will be going to offers Crane License with NCCO, but it also offers backhoe, skid steer, road grader, skip loader, track excavator and truck excavator, dozer , earth mover and wheel loader licenses.

I mainly want to be a crane operator but not sure if I should just go ahead and get all of those licenses as well just to open up more job opportunities are are there plenty of crane opportunities out there ?

my next question I have is what is the job market like for crane operators ? I am originally from Utah but it snows 4-6 months of the year so not a lot of work. my wife and I don't want to stay in California we have been looking into Arizona,Phoenix, Las Vegas and Texas what states would you suggest ? I am open to any state just trying to go where the opportunities are to make some money and get experience in the crane field.

Thank for your time and hope this is the right spot for this post.

Salvage seller in Canada

I bought a part for my Cat 12 a few years ago from a seller in Canada that deals in used parts. I can't find his contact info and was wondering if anybody knew him or he chimes in. I believe his name was edwin, edgar, or something like that.

Thanks

Volvo 300BLC control valve

Anyone familiar with excavator hydraulics might have an answer here. Got a friend looking to re seal his main control valve on this unit. Case 1816B Steering Issues

I bought a 1981 Case 1816B skid steer. The motor runs great, carriage and bucket cylinders operate just fine. The issue I discovered after driving it awhile is in the steering. It drives "straight" forward and reverse just fine, but any degree of turning must be done gingerly. The machine makes terrible popping sounds while it jerks into a turn. I can't jam to controls to the stops to spin in the same spot like it should. Also, one time while I was using it, the machine start to buck during a turn, bouncing diagonally back and forth. The violence of the motion was growing by the second, when I killed the main power cut-off switch to the skid steer. This stopped the action, but had it gone on a few seconds more, it would have either thrown me out of the loader or pitched over on its side. What components should I look at first? I was think #1 the Steering Control Valve and #2 the Steering Displacement Pump. Has anyone run into this type of a problem before, and can I get some guidance? Thanks, Jeff

Confirming the identification of Cat 941 or 951 Loader?

I have some undercarriage parts to get ordered for this machine that I have owned for a few month & there are some discrepancies in it's identification. The decals on the machine say 951 & the Ser # tag up on the RH frame tower facing the operator indicate a 941 (Ser 80H 2988) (BTW I posted about this when I first got the machine), so this morning I removed the counter weight to see if there was another tag on the frame under the counter weight......nothing there. I am wondering if more if the plate work for the hitch has to come off to reveal an ID plate under it? Perhaps the ID tags are not always located on the back of the machines?

Any other telltale methods to differentiate between the between the 941 & 951 machines?

Gear oil dispenser

I have been tasked with finding something other than regular bucket pumps for gear oil dispensing. The higher ups want something that won't splash out bouncing around in a truck and will keep rain water out. I have been trying like hell to find one of those metal gear oil cans with the pump built in, but the only one I can find available in the us is over $600. anybody know where I can find about a half dozen of them for a more reasonable price? or have another solution to offer.

Land clearing production with a JD 850J?

lundi 30 mai 2016

I'm getting a contractor to look at clearing about 4 acres(300' x 600') of light to medium brush and was trying to get a ballpark on how long it might take. It would take me too long with my 931B and someone else is mostly paying the bill. Some of the brush is thick as in hard to walk through but not a lot of big trees. Mostly poplar and a few up to maybe 8" or so that I think will come out easy. The rest is pretty light stuff just lots of it. I think the guy has a fair amount of experience and has worked for the county on forest fires. He charges $160/hr for the JD 850J and says he can do quite a bit in an hour. Is it best to get an estimate on hours or just how much to do the job? Depending on how much it is to clear, I need the area leveled off and built up to make a pad for a 1/4 mile flat track oval. I can dig clay with my backhoe and we can get trucks and some smaller equipment in to spread it but if the clearing is reasonable, we'll hire some of that out too. The ground is higher so could be scraped down 8" or so to save on the amount of fill to build the rest up. The contractor also has a 200 size hoe for $130/hr. What do you guys with more experience think?

2-stroke Wacker Rammer issue

Hi guys,
I have a Wacker BS60-2I, 2-stroke oil injected rammer I have a problem with. The rammer runs fine for 5-10 minutes and then all of the sudden will start crow hopping, sometimes 12" into the air. It will hop around for about 15 seconds and then run just fine for a few more minutes and then repeat the obnoxious behavior. I figured fuel was the problem so I put a carb rebuild kit in and when that didn't work, I replaced the carb. Replacement didn't help or change the situation. I was told by a mechanic that low compression was likely the culprit but I disagree given the compression is 130psi. Any thoughts, ideas or suggested repairs would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all, Bob

t-190 starting problems

Im having some issues with my bobcat starting, the panel will not stay on long enough for me to put password on. I hit the when I hit the "enter" button the panel will light up for a quick second, but then it turns off. I heard a clicking noise coming from the fuse panel under the seat, I sounds like its coming from the starter relay. I switched the relay with another one, but still no luck. The battery tested good, I will be having the started test tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should look for? Thanks in advance for the help

Cracked, leaking roller frame Cat D6H ll

Have cracked roller frame on our D6H ll. Have been adding oil for a while. Crack goes across top of roller frame just behind where the cover comes off for track adjuster. When we took bottom rollers off for replacement oil leaked out the bolt holes. The crack on the top of the frame does not go all the way down the side of the frame. Not sure what is inside. Is anyone familiar with a problem like this. I am just wondering if it is possible to repair the leak to prevent it from leaking oil out into the bottom of the roller frame. It must be cracked somehow on the inside.

Komatsu PC200-LC6 fuel issue

Komatsu Excavator PC200-LC6. S/N close to A82500.

Ran fine one day. Wouldn't start the next. You can crank and crank. No smoke. Acts like a bad fuel shutoff solenoid but from what I can tell this engine doesn't have a shutoff, just a throttle motor. Is this correct?

No error codes. I suspected possible animal damage to the wiring since a bunch of the foam inside the engine compartment was recently chewed off but I couldn't find any damaged wires. This has the 4- and 3-wire plugs at the throttle motor. If you unplug these, E05 appears but it disappears when you plug back in the wires.

Fuses are all OK. Obviously I also re-bled the fuel system and there seems to be plenty of fuel supplied to the system.

Any help in diagnosis would be appreciated.

I need help again please on a cylinder seal kit ID for my old 430 backhoe

I found a seal on ebay from the # of old seal SKF CR-15160.. Im sure i will need other parts once i open up cylinder. Its a tie rod cylinder the picks up bucket. One track motor stronger than the other?

I experienced recently with my Kubota U50 when giving full power ahead on both tracks pushing against a large boulder, that the left track spun quite easily, while I did not get the right to spin at all. Similar gravel underneath the tracks and better tread depth on left track.

Could there be some damage/wear on my right final drive? Does anybody have experience on this field? Appreciate any/ all tips:)

JCB 210SL - 2 issues - tips welcomed!

Hi guys. Just bought a 1994 210SL a couple weeks ago. Great condition, love it so far but I got 2 minor issues with it ans I was wondering if I could get steering into the right direction from someone who's had similar issues:

-I have a hydraulic oil leak coming from under the cab, i'll have to look where it comes from exactly but it seems to be near the steering column for some reason...

-Also, under a little load, the bucket or forks drops down quite fast... shouldn't it stay right up? At least for a minute before starting to slowing drop under load...?

Thanks!

CDL confusion question

dimanche 29 mai 2016

Longtime reader here, just got around to joining after about 6 or 7 years of reading, ya'll have been many hours of entertainment. I use to be in the construction and dozing business back in the 90s, but just raise cattle now, still have a track loader, backhoe and dozer.

Here's my question, right now I pull all my trailers with a dually pickup, doing all farm use and not for hire, mostly hauling cattle, then a little hay and a piece of equipment now and then. I'm wanting to go to a small single axle truck to relieve some miles on my good trucks. These are all gooseneck's with electric brakes. Here's the problem, I have a class B with air brakes now and I can't get a strait answer on what I need to do to drive a single axle air brake truck with my trailers. Talked to all kinds of people with the Lisense office and highway patrol and get different answers from all of them. The people at the Lisense office said since it's not for hire and farm use and I have a class b with air brakes I'm ok. the CDL testing people said I need a class A, but here's the funny part about what they said, they told me I needed the A, but they told me I couldn't take the class A test in the truck I'm going to use and the trailer I'm going to pull because the trailer doesn't have air brakes, so I'm thinking If the vehicle I want to take the test in that I'm going to be driving won't work to get the Lisense then why do I need the Lisense??? It also makes me wonder if someone driving a little fl50 frieghtliner with a big 5th wheel travel trailer would have to get a class A since that's basically the same thing I'm doing. i know ya'll aren't the DMV, but anything you can add would sure be interesting for me to hear, thank you!

Got my new Blue Diamond brush cutter

I've now had a chance to run my Blue Diamond open front 72" standard flow cutter for a couple hours. I'm impressed! If you are looking for a standard flow cutter be sure and check them out. Even if you think you want high flow, check them out, you may be like me and realize you don't need it. I just use this for my own use around my farm but so far I haven't seen a need for high flow. Now maybe if I was cutting a lot for customers or something but not for my use. Like I said I only have a couple hours on it but just wanted to give my initial thoughts. My only problem is almost searching for areas to clear lol. I took a video just to give you an idea of how well the standard flow works.

1999 Mustang 2050 Safety Lockout, Intermittent

Howdy. Have searched this forum a LOT looking for ways to troubleshoot this problem of foot pedals locking up. This has gone on for years and I have been unable to find what causes it, nor have I found many answers online. It seems to be a common problem, but not so common are answers!!!
I find that replacing the ECM to the newer version with LED lights might be a path to determine which circuit is causing the lockout. Most of the time I can stop and start engine a few times, mess with the 2 switches, jiggle the wires/fuse area, and within 10 minutes it works properly, and might even work for weeks without locking up. But it always comes back to bite me! It seems to be getting more difficult to coax it to release the pedal locks.
Any suggestions or comments appreciated by this newbie to your nice forum.!!
My first contribution will be posting what the problem was on my machine, and I am guessing it will be useful to a LOT of folks.....
Thanks for ANY info. :-)))

takeuchi 180fr or 175 owners with coupler please help!

I have a 2014 Takeuchi tb180fr with a TAG coupler.

here is a pic of it curled in all the way.

Name: upside down.jpg Views: 4 Size: 84.5 KB

The coupler says tb175 on it. Dealer says 175 and 180 are same and it is correct coupler.

Contacted TAG and they took serial numbers from coupler and buckets and said everything matches machine. They stated they design to Takeuchi specs and that is correct curl. They told me: "Just use the thumb to hold material and reduce spillage" So if I didn't have a thumb I would be just f'd?

Bottom line the curl stinks and it really sucks when digging stone out of a truck or loading into a truck because the material spills out of the bucket.

Anyone with a 180fr or 175 could you send me a pic of your bucket curled in. Especially if you have a Tag coupler or a standard Takeuchi bucket with no coupler.

I am considering buying a new coupler if I can find one that curls in. Maybe a pin grabber style. Anyone with any advice on brands or other info feel free to chime in. I am frustrated as hell because I like the machine. My Takeuchi 53fr is the reason I bought this thing I assumed the bucket didn't curl in because it was in the wrong pin setting, when I tried the other pin hole it was worse. The tb53fr folds the bucket in against the thumb/stick.

Thanks in advance

I am new here, looking for some info, looking for a hoe for farm use. pretty tough to find decent used around here(usually a small fortune if its good), found a 05 310G(non turbo), 6700hrs, 4x4, 1.25yd bucket, 22" hoe bucket, with extendable dipper, asking 35,000$(CAD). Deutz air cooled F3L912 - Seized?

Deutz engine in a small Dynapac compactor CA 12. From reading, I figured if the cooling fan belt broke, there would be some Dilemma.

Machine has been stored for a while (thank you Economy!), checked the usual and evicted spiders etc. Started up right away. Belt inspected - looked good and no cracks. Been running well and best helper was using it for a couple hours with no vib to level some mounds when it suddenly stopped. He of course didn't see the gauge and was quite surprised. The belt jumped off the pulley(s) but wasn't broken.

It was able to be restarted w/i an half hour or so and they forced cooled it by misting the oil cooler on the back. Yes they didn't realize that was for the hydraulic system .... which had no real heat since no vibration used.

For this post, other than analyzing (to no good end) the 'mechanics' of their thought process ..... a couple Deutz questions:

Given the belt tensioner electrical switch gizmo affected nothing (bulb wire found w bad connection) and the sudden shutoff was likely a seizure and the next day miraculously the motor sounds fine, is it possible the motor could endure the seize and somehow not be mortally damaged? Does it help in such a situation the motor is well worn in?

Am planning on changing the oil although it doesn't smell burnt.

Got the tensioner 'position switch' working w a new bulb and some wiring repairs.

Also noticed the old belt [which is v diff to see when installed], had actually worn to a somewhat chisel shape and must have rode a bit down in the pulleys whereas the new belt is riding higher; the spring tensioner is wound tighter and belt tension is higher since it had to stroke further.

The simplicity and reliability of the mechanical fuel system is less desired when a simple electrical solenoid could have terminated the fuel supply. I dreamed up the possibility some form of a mechanical thermal operation could have been built into the Bosch fuel injection pump unit and held the mechanical low pressure pump lever off the cam .... but no such feature that I can find. Thus seizure concluded for the sudden shutdown.

Caterpillar 289C Audible Alarm Broken

Hello Folks,

I recently stopped hearing the long beep or audible alarm when you turn the key of a Caterpillar 289C. Not worrying about that too much I proceed mowing my property and at some point the Amber Flashing light went up and the Engine Oil temperature light lit up. Me, not noticing them continued to mow, and only looked when I felt my A/C stop blowing cold (Haha). So I stopped the machine and looked at the radiator fins and it was filled with a combination of fox tails and a lint like accumulation of plant fibers. Have I had the alarm working, I possibly could have stopped the machine sooner.

TLDR: The audible alarm is broken and I want to replace it.

Does anyone know how to replace the alarm/ and a link to caterpillars part catalog to buy a new one?

Thank You

Case 460 trencher

Does anybody have any experience with the Case 460? I really like the size of this machine, however I am worried that it would be underpowered. A 6000lb machine that digs 5' deep and only a 37hp Kubota?

The 560 has 51hp. That seems more like the hp I would want, but it is too bulky of a machine for me.

Old JD 450 - brand new HLR - reverse doesn't work

Hello guys,
Hoping you can help me out. I'm in a bit of a pickle with this machine. Bought it a year ago and High range was out. Low and Reverse worked fine. About 30% of the pins in the tracks were rusted tight. Tried everything to break them free. Ended up replacing the tracks.

I was using the machine a few weeks ago and all of a sudden I lose reverse with no warning. Well I figure it's time for an HLR rebuild. Bought a complete rebuilt unit and rebuilt manifold. Ouch that hit the wallet. Well it took me about 2 weeks by myself to pull the engine, bellhousing, and HLR. Finally get it all back together today and reverse still doesn't work. Now I'm more than upset.

Checked manifold pressure and I have 150 psi in all three HLR ranges. High and Low work like they should. Only reverse does not work. I'm getting desperate. Please help.

Grading bucket

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I was searching the net for any info on building a grading bucket possibly tilting and came across this forum. I also have plans to make a 12 inch bucket for trenches. I started collecting materials. I figured I would use 3/8 plate and a plow cutting edge and maybe double plate or add 1/2 plate in curtain areas. I have a 2013 jcb 3cx extend a hoe with a wain Roy xls coulpler. So I have to integrate that mount into the design. I found a 4.5 inch pipe with a 1/4 inch wall thickness I'm hoping that will be strong enough. So I still have a few questions about the design, I would like to make a curve like a typical buckets design but don't think I'll be able to bend the plate. Is there a tip to bending 3/8 plate. I was also thinking about using a section of 12 pipe and cutting an area out to make the curve. I would like the bucket to be at least 48 inches wide, should it be less or more? I would greatly appreciate any input anyone would like to offer. Thank you

Cat d4g, engine runs but will not move

Need some help/inputs before calling Cat dealer. My D4G with 680 hrs was running fine until 2 days ago. Backed out of cover and moved approximately 80 feet and stopped moving just like if park button was depressed. Getting trouble codes 261(Accel Switch), 262 (Deaccel Switch) and 255 (position sensor, F N R). Removed covers, cleaned etc and found no rat chewed up wires. This is a 2005 D4G, model # 3046, Serial #MHK04185. Any inputs appreciated. Is this something that I possibly can fix or only can be done by dealer.

skid steers and hills???

OK I am wondering what your opinions are for using a skid steer on hills?

as I have some property I am trying to back fill in a section to get more level ground, but at same time I will still need to keep a down hill road open to do work on the bottom half of the property.
I been looking for a skid steer for a while now, and just cannot seem to find a decent one for a fair price

and also starting to think maybe a skid steer isn't the best tool for working on hills as well
the hills I have are uneven ground, and about 15% slope(at the bottom is a 10+ ft almost vertical drop, retaining wall!
so will need to make sure I can stop before going off??

I don't have a ton of experience with skid steers, so
are they good on hills, or should I look for something else?? and if so, what?
I cannot use a dozer, here due to some concrete and pavement that will need to be crossed often!
Thanks

TB025 Hydraulic Help ......PLEASE!!!!

I have a 1999 takeuchi tbo25 that will not lower with any force. I have swapped the hoses on the ends of the cylinder and it worked. This tells me the cylinder is okay (I think). All pilot functions are working except the forward or lower function. I took the pilot control assembly apart and nothing is seized up in there. When I push forward on the lever it continues to lower until I pull back on it to stop it. Is this a spool sticking? If so do I have to take the entire control valve off the machine to replace it? Any and all advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Safety Requirements for Scaffolding work - Precautions and Safety

Scaffolding workers usually misunderstand the inspection report attached with the Scaffolding in their working sites. The main reason of Scaffolding Inspection misunderstanding is the use of low quality inspection system. That is attaching low quality Inspection Tags with the Scaffolding to inform the worker either the Scaffolding is safe for working on it or not. That is, the Inspection report is sometime either erased or completely removed that cause misunderstanding, usually. Using quality Scaffold Tags that is been manufactured under carefull investigation of OSHA members to ensure Scaffolding Safety in your working sites.

I think my local dealer is really hosing me down.

So I've been trying to work with my local JD Dealer, Billerica MA, now sometimes parts are okay, exhaust gaskets, $5 each or something for 4 of them, that's fine, but man, every now and again, on a few items I really get soaked, T102095, air intake hose, now I'll usually check with greenfarmparts for a cost comparison and I'm willing to even pay a little more to help support the locals but fook, so this part should be 55-65 bucks plus 10 shipping, in hand, well, dealer says 80, well, hmm, okay, I get the part and its 85 plus a 15 dollar shipping and handling fee, WTF, I'm cooling off before I take my slip back down there, I'm pretty steamed, there wasn't any rush on the part and holy hell, its a rubber hose that'd fit in a normal shipping box or slap a label on it.

Any good tips and tricks for dealing with dealerships? I really don't want to do battle every time. Should I just mention the online JD dealers prices?

New Holland LX565 - No Voltage Reading on EIC Disply - Won't Run

Hello. I am new to the forum, and new to the world of skid steers. I bought a new holland LX565 from a farm implement dealer last week to use on my acreage. It ran fine when I picked it up and when I got it home last week. It has basically been parked in the driveway for about 5 days and when I went to start it this evening and it will turn over but not start. I noticed that the voltage reading on the digital EIC display reads 0. However, the battery is charged and both cable connections are secure. The machine WILL start just fine when in "Service" mode, but shuts down immediately when switching to run. It seems to me like it may be a bad connection somewhere... Can someone please point me in some direction to start trouble shooting this problem. I am mechanically inclined, but have very limited experience with skid steers. I do know that the dealer put a brand new EIC / Display in it when preparing for sale as the original was defective.

New (to me) Pacific P9

So on a whim i bought an old 1973 Pacific P9 dump truck at the auction.
Name: IMG_2934.jpg Views: 0 Size: 37.9 KB

Figured it was cheap enough and i could make it work for my hobby farm for the next year and turn around and sell it. My problem is i can't find any back history on the truck. i have contacted Coast Power Train and got the history of when it was manufactured and what it came out with but then i saw this picture in post 182.
http://ift.tt/1UaZlV0

I got in contact with the last owner and he says he never changed the motor in it but here's a picture of it today.
Name: IMG_2933.jpg Views: 0 Size: 40.7 KB

This may be a long shot but does anyone on the westcoast know any more back info on the truck? Why the Engine was swapped and possibly the tranny?

Here's a video Skadill also did on the truck

Bobcat 773 skid steer stalls repeatedly...

My 773 bobcat started stalling this morning and won't stay running. It seems like a diesel problem put I'm not sure at all... Cleaned the air filters and changed the fuel filter, no difference in it's performance... It will run well for 5 minutes on a fresh start but repeatedly stalls there after... It sometimes on low revs works for longer but eventually stalls. Any ideas??? Thanks!

I have a Caterpillar 935c and it has gunk in the bottom of the fuel tank. I can't even seem to figure out how to take the tank off. Can somebody help explain Loader specs?

Some background. Out of high school I worked at a greenhouse and they sent me through a bobcat school and I ran a loader for them for a year till I moved on. Since that time I have always wanted to own one. Landscaping is a passion of mine and I spend most of spring, summer and fall doing it for myself, friends and family. Unfortunately with the long winters of northern Canada it can't support me year round so I have a normal job. I live in a town of 3000 people and the two landscapers / small excavation guys in town are both doing it as a hobby in there retirement. Having used them on occasion for jobs to big for a shovel and wheel barrel I know they will be calling it quits about the time I plan to retire. This seems like a perfect way for me to spend my retirement. I have been living on google for the last few weeks researching skid steers and I keep getting links to this page so I decided to join as I have learned a lot.

I have experience in two loaders. The bobcat I ran many years ago (long since forgot the model number) had the hand and foot controls and A family friend loaned me a New Holland C232 CTL, when I got my new house to do the yard. I much preferred the track machine to the wheel in both stability and ease in digging. I also really liked the joystick in the C232 to the hand and foot controls of the bobcat, so I would be leaning that way for preference. I was able to hop in the New Holland and in 10 mins I felt comfortable and was working with out thinking about the controls.

Now to my questions. I have access to every brand of machine available within an hour drive of me (closest city) I am leaning towards Deere as I would need the same hour drive to get service but my brother can get me parts locally through the John deere agriculture dealer. Second would be New Holland as I really enjoyed that one I borrowed and parts would be 20 min away at another agriculture dealer. I know everyone on this site always says that the dealer and service are the most important and that makes sense but I am looking more for the most reliable machine (i know they all brake down) I will be the only one running it so it will be treated well and the maintenance will be followed. I have enough skills to change fluids, hoses, and tighten tracks, but anything thing big like rebuilding motors ect will have to go to the dealer and being a small retirement operation large cost repairs will hurt. I don't mind if a fix takes a few extra days or have to wait for parts as the down time won't mean I can't put food on the table, So getting the most reliable out of the gate is most important. I know the CTL have a higher cost to run but it's not going to be asked to run all day everyday and ran hard if it sees 15hr a week I would be surprised. For what it's worth Bobcat by far is the most popular as far as what I see working around the city and on trailers with Cat probably number 2. there is dealers for Tak ,ghel, mustang, terex, ect, ect, But I have never seen one outside of the dealer but they must sell them or they wouldn't be around.

Second question. What size of machine do I need? I will be stripping grass, grading yards, hauling gravel, rock, topsoil. Basic small excavation landscaping. I don't want to go too big as I will be mostly in residential sized lots and don't want to tear up existing landscape (or atleast keep it to a minimum) or have trouble maneuvering. The only accessories I have plans to run is an auger and hydraulic tamper. I know this has been asked a lot but this is the part I need the specs explained to me. I looked up the weight of sod and pallets of rock and they came in at 1800-3000lbs and the average weight of a yard of gravel or crushed rock is also in the 3000lb range. So simple I just need a machine with a ROC of 3000lbs or a little over. But then I watch youtube video's of machines smaller than that spec doing the jobs? So am I not understanding how the ROC correlates to the job it can do or are people pushing there machines past there capabilities?

I look forward to any advice and suggestions on machine.

Thanks

Jason

Komatsu PC200LC-6 No High Idle

Good Morning,
I am working on a Komatsu PC200LC-6 that started out as a no start. When I went to the unit I found the high pressure fuel pump split in two. Took the pump out and had it rebuilt and the injectors rebuilt at the same time. Reassembled everything and found that the unit runs very well but the throttle motor will not full throttle up the fuel pump. I have adjusted the linkage so that it is tight. However I didn't disassemble any of that to get the pump out. Is this machine supposed to idle up when it senses a increase in pump demand? Any help is appreciated!

Case 580B Clutch Brake not working

I have a case 580b , shuttle transmission, that will not go into gear without grinding the gears. The clutch brake feels like it is flat not working. I checked the fluid level in the transmission. At the full mark. Ran the engine with the filler cap off and fluid pumping as it should. What should I be checking. This issue just started as I have put over 1000 hours on the machine without any problems. Thanks for reading this thread.

I need advise please, been battling with my machine for the last month, but it's still not right. The left side track is much slower and very weak compared to the right side track. In "back-up" mode it travels and turns perfect or in "Auto" mode with the PRV unplugged.

Does this point to something specific, or is it not that simple?

Need advice on the best equipment for my job.

Not sure if I posted this in the correct forum, but here goes...

I bought 25 acres and built a house, 20 acres is very heavily wooded and we want it selectively cleared so we can eventually run a few head of cattle. The trees are medium to large. Most will be about 12" in diameter, but some of the bigger ones are closer to 24". All hardwoods and a few cedar.

I've ran a tractor before (grew up on a family owned 30,000 acre ranch). But I've never run any heavy equipment. I want to do this job myself I don't want to pay to get it done. I'm in no hurry and have all the time in the world to get the job complete.

First off, I plan on buying a 35HP tractor with a loader and brush hog because I need the hog for mowing, the brush is so thick a regular mower won't get it done. I'm wondering if I can use the backhoe attachment (think of a Kubota compact tractor) to remove stumps after the trees are down with my chainsaw. I know this will be slow going. But I'm not sure how effective the small backhoe attachment would do on the larger stumps.

Is this possible to do with the tractor? If not what is the best all round equipment to use? I'm trying to stay under $20K for the other piece of equipment. I've read on the forum about a crawler loader and excavator. But the excavators in my price range are the compact track loader types with a bucket. They really aren't going to be any more use than digging around the stumps, because they just have the backhoe. Not sure if they'll be any better than the backhoe on the tractor.

Dozers are an option too, but I'd be looking at really old ones and I'm not real handy when it comes to repairing things, so I'm concerned about that.

So what would you suggest? I'm open to all options other than hiring it done. I'm a do it yourselfer type guy and don't like to hire people to do things for me.

I'd appreciate all suggestions and comments. Please feel free to suggest equipment I haven't mentioned here. My ideal situation is to find something that can do everything I need and not buy a separate tractor, but I don't know of anything that can do the tree removal and also pull a brush hog.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts.

Just bought a 2010 bomag 54" single drum. Have some questions.

Just bought my first packer. It's a 54" smooth drum. One thing I have noticed is that it has no scrapers on it. Only the ones that are shaped like teeth. Guessing it had a pad foot shell kit in it at one time. How important is it to have scrapers? Should I look into getting some or are the ones for the pad food good enough. I will be mainly packing gravel.

Spring Binders

I haul alot of heavy equipment for my job, and we use both the ratchet binders and the constant tension spring ratchet binders. I avoid the spring ratchet binders whenever possible because I've seen them fail on multiple occasions. However, my leadership insists they're used when securing rubber tired equipment to keep tension when the equipment bounces.
Though recently I was told by a co-worker and fellow equipment hauler that the spring binders were banned by Federal DOT because they fail so easily.
Does anyone know if this is true? If so, where can I find the regulations so I can pass it onto my leadership?

Need help identifying a backhoe

I recently got a backhoe passed down to me and looking to find out which model it is and its possible worth. I tried looking online but I can't seem to find anything. Any suggestions if there is a serial number search around?

JCB Machine Serial No.: 15BT4039/345956/7
Engine Serial No.: AC515948S
Front Axle Serial No. (4WD): 07620
Gearbox Serial No.: 445/078/5/02899

I am not 100% sure but I believe my father bought it through an auction for used NYS heavy equipment. Thank you in advanced for your time and assistance.

Removing air from hydraulics

Well, I am replacing about 5 hyd. lines on my 655D from the backhoe valve area and I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do to get any air out of the lines after I hook everything back up?

As always any help is appreciated.

CAT 416C swing tower

My 416C s/n 5yn6433 has an issue with the bottom pin and bushing in the swing tower. Tractor has about 5000 hrs on it. I was wondering if anyone had dealt with this and what the procedure is to repair it. It seems the bushing has cracked or possibly fallen out the bottom. I hope my housings are ok and all I need is the pin and bush. I will do the top while I'm into it as well.

2000 Mauldin MG618 problems

Hello!

My husband and I purchased a 2000 Mauldin MG618 motor grader. The problem we have with it is, after about 45 mins of running, it WILL NOT go up even the smallest incline. Shut it off for about 20mins, fire it back up, and it has no problem going up an incline like a bat out of hell. As long as it is on level ground, it runs all day like a champ. We have changed the hydraulic fluid (it was black!), as well as ALL filters, yet this problem still persists. Any ideas as to what the problem may be/where or what we should look at next?

Also, we have been unable to find a service/ manual on this thing (only parts). Anyone know where we could find one? I've tried their website, which is where we downloaded the parts manual, but there is no service/owners/operations manual to be found.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Volvo EC160c

Hello

Having a wierd problem with my excavator, i seems to be some electrical. Before it was the ECU and RT Controller, replaced those and had to rewire new lead for power. Those units was expensive.

Now it it seems that the safety lever is the problem, it revs the engine down but hydraulic wont respond when activated again. Revs up, everything works except the hand controllers and belts. Coupler works.
There is hydraulic pressure.
For me it seems the valve for the brain for controller wont open or something as a safety system.
Was hoping someone know where exactly this valve is, I dont have the workshop manual so.

Thanks in advance!

bucket options for E70b

I have an older mid size excavator (maybe a large mini?). Caterpillar E70b. It has two buckets, a standard size (maybe 24" across) and a large size for mucking.

I need a trenching bucket for it. How do I find a used one that fits? Are there "classes" or "series" of bucket attachments that I should look for?

And what is the minimum width these usually come in?

Thanks.

Hyster H80C forklift questions

Hey Y'all,

I've been looking for a 5k to 8k forklift with pneumatic tires for awhile, something that will fit in my shop and I can take to jobsites. One of my customers is a scrap dealer, and they just got one in that they decided is too nice to scrap and are reselling instead. Want $1300 for it delivered to my shop. I'm wondering your thoughts about this - here are the details.

Hyster H80C, one of the data plates mentions 1969. Not running although it has spark, turns over OK, and tries to start. Just doesn't get quite enough RPM up to run without the starter motor spinning. I'm guessing it's an LP regulator issue, but obviously don't know for sure. Continental F227 flathead six. Not sure exactly how the trans works...there are two round pedals, one on the left and one on the right. Then there's a gear lever (N, 1-3) on the R side of the column as well as a forward / reverser lever right under the gearshift lever. Heck, it would be a help if one of you could just tell me if this thing is clutched or automatic. Hoping the left pedal is just an inching pedal, but no way to know without it running.

From the outside, the machine looks great. Good paint, not beat up, ROPS intact, etc. Engine compartment is just dusty. Engine oil looks good, hyd oil not on stick. Bearings in the mast are worn out and no sideshift, but I located another mast that has sideshift here:

http://ift.tt/1OPiCdm

The owner of that one has said he'll let the the whole mast (no forks with it) and any levers / hoses / valving associated with sideshift go for $750. It's a decent trip from here, about 800 miles.

This is something that will get used maybe an average of half an hour a week, so I don't really want to tie up a lot of money in it. If I put that mast on this forklift, I should have around $2200 in it by the time I pay for fuel. I know it's a pig in a poke, mainly wondering what you all think of these older machines. Were they decent? Easy enough to operate? Was Hyster using proprietary parts back then, or are parts for the hydraulic pump, etc available outside of the company?

A comparable, good running used machine will be in the $8k neighborhood from what I can see. That's room for a lot of fixin' if need be. And an older machine without the electronics is really what I need for my purposes. Thoughts welcome.

575 forks

I recently purchased a 80s/90s JD 575 skidsteer to do some snow removal and move pallets of medical equipment for my buisness. Im having a hard time located a set of forks for it. Probably due to the fact it has the older JD quick attach with the vertical release levers and the tilt arm between the lift arms. I really want to use clamp ons as a last resort because the machine will have different operators with different skill levels. Id feel safer with a set of forks utilizing the current quick attach set up. Does anyone own a 575 and purchased a set from a manufacturer somewhere on the East coast ? or does anyone here have any suggestions besides having something custom welded ? Thanks......

185 Sullair leaking oil around filter??

mercredi 25 mai 2016

Hey everybody, new to the site, not sure where to post my first question, feel free to move if necessary. I have a 1979 185 Sullair compressor hooked to a John Deere diesel on my sandblast rig. I'm having an issue with the oil filter for the compressor. With a new filter, I have no leaks or issues, But after about 4 weeks it begins to drip on startup from around the seal. Then it will stop after reaching normal temp. After about 6 weeks it will get to just running out all over the place on startup but will still seal closed after reaching a higher temp in a matter of minutes. I have a Baldwin filter on it, and have tried a couple other brands, although i would prefer a real Sullair filter, but 3 times I ordered one it didn't fit. I'm not too sure that the issue would be the filter brand anyways, I have never seen this before. The seal looks to be in great shape, and the seat is flawless. Could there be a difference in the filters and it actually be the filter brand, or is this an issue with the compressor itself? thanks

First time cat 631C owner

So I ended up with a older cat 631C scraper. Can someone tell me where to find the ser #. I have never had one if these or driven one until yesterday. I need to get a few things for it. And a book also.

Overall it seams to run and work fine, but I do have a few question about it. The brakes don't work(seems like most are that way) so when I push in the red airbrake button, it pops back out after 20 seconds or so. it does pump air and can here boosters when stepping on/off the pedal. normally the reason for bad brakes is wore out shoes or some easier to fix problem? I don't really need to have them working just sort of curios about them.

The hold trans pedal, not sure what that does. and the diff lock pedal are sitting on the floor. they are supposed to pop up so they can be pushed down to work? air operated or hyd?

I have around 15yrs experience with excavators and big and small dozer, track loaders, trucks and 20yd pull scrapers. None with self propelled scrapers. I have been reading some of the threads about them but I am open to any tips or things not to do while operating from some of you guys that have some experience on these machines.

Thanks in advance. Steve

Volvo A35 6wd Truck Coolant Leaving

Where can coolant go in this engine? Coolant was low and engine was overheating and coworkers filled tank up and then run it and now I have it in the shop and added 5 gal of coolant and run it for a bit and there is no coolant leaking on floor and don't think I run it long enough to get it warmed up to open thermostats but the level in tank went down a couple inches in a couple hours. I am working on fixing some air leaks and had air line off coming off of air compressor and could feel or see in coolant coming out of there. Do these injectors have coolant around them? If that was the case wouldn't the fuel be going into the coolant rather than the other way around? I don't know what the year is when I go in to Volvo dealer they say it is fairly old the truck serial # is 2741 I don't know what the engine serial # is but could get it in the morning. TIA Jerry

RT transport systems

I think I've seen this system mentioned on here and just saw this website. Looks like an awesome way to move RT cranes. I even wonder if it would beat a 70-80 ton truck crane on ease of moving the crane. If you could leave the weights on the crane it would only take one rig rather then a truck crane with a separate truck just for counterweights. Probably wouldn't make sense for a quickset. I think I'd like to have one of those tho.

Ex120-5 alternator diode

Hi i have a hitachi ex120-5 giving a bit of trouble. When you switch off the key the engine stays running. Have traced the problem down to the alternator backfeeding the ignition wire does anybody know if there is a diode somewhere along that small wire or if its built into the alternator.

Can you ID this pull scraper?

It's being advertised as a 7 yarder. I spoke with the owner and he says they redid it a year ago or so and put the Deere decals on. I haven't been able to cross it over to any make or model and it's a bit far to go inspect without knowing all i can ahead of time. Thanks for any help, Tim
