I'm in need of some help on a cat 941 SN:// 80H922 1969 year model. The ring gear bolts broke in the bevel gear cae off the ring gear. Not sure why they broke but all but 1 sheared off. First off i purchased the machine this way. Wonder why they sheared off to begin with. I now have taken the top end off and have access to the clutches and bevel gear assem. I took one of the tracks off but am now in the process of pulling the final but however it looks like i need a real expensive sprocket puller/installer.
Questions:
1. can i remove the ring gear without pulling finals.
2. where can i find an equivalent puller to remove and install the sprockets. (not wanting to spend 6-8 K for a puller installer)
3. can i pull the final without pulling the sprocket, then take it to an equipment place and have the sprocket pulled and pressed.
4. A separate question, how to install the track tension spring, it appears that it requires the spring to be compressed to install.
5. what is required to install new clutches on the drums once its out of the machine.
6. pinion gear: can i pull out the pinion gear without pulling the trans
Anything of any help would be AWSOME!
thanks.
