D57S steering pedal return prob - newbie here

jeudi 2 octobre 2014

Hello all, first time post & new to the forum. Tried the search but nothing matched. My D57S steering pedals will not return to the "rest" position. If you position them correctly & press down on one, the other raises up about 2", then when you release pressure (take your foot off) the pedal stays "down". It would seem that some spring has broken but I've taken off the front/foot "kick" plate that the rods go through & see only one spring that seems to do nothing & it is intact. Could someone point me in the right direction to resolve this issue? The tacks respond normally when the pedals are fully depressed, so I am hoping there is nothing wrong in the steering clutch housing itself. I do some of my own mechanic work but did have the steering clutches/brakes (I think they somehow must work together - not sure about that though), replaced a couple of yrs ago. As a farmer I don't use it very often, however, I'll be doing some land clearing in the near future & the way these pedals are now - it will not be easy to operate! Thanks in advance for any insight on what & where the problem may be.
