Just replaced the fuel injection pump on my JCB 215 with a 1004.40T Perkins engine. Wasn't too hateful of a job, but I now have a problem that has me stumped. After replacing the injector pump (Lucas CAV 3348F212), filters back flushing the return line, bleeding and priming everything. it started and ran like a champ! For about 4 hours off and on. Noticed while I was running it that I would loose the throttle when I pushed on the pedal. It would momentarily not react, then it would pick-up and take off like it normally would. Happened 2 times, then today it finally gave out... no throttle, only an idle. Then it died and I've not been able to start it again.
So far I've tried checking the lines and I seem to have good flow from the lift pump. I don't have a pressure gauge to check it, so that might be a factor. I opened the lines to the injectors which provided little fuel spitting out when cranked over. Tried unhooking the return and feed lines from the fuel filter to the injector pump with little fuel showing when cranked over. I opened the injector bleed screw on the lower section of the pump and cranked it with plenty of fuel flowing out.
Now, I don't know what to check next... What do you think???
Only thing I haven't checked is the solenoid and it has 2 wires and I'm not sure what to look for there. Although I wouldn't suspect that since it was just rebuilt.
