Hey guys - I've been getting some calls lately do clean out dugouts (stock dams) for livestock around here, did one last week and the owner knew I probably wouldn't quite be able to reach all of it, well we ended up leaving about 8' wide in the bottom of it. I have a 235 Cat with 48" wide digging bucket and am wondering if I should be looking for an 8' - 10' parallel link stick extension (found some made by NYE Manufacturing) and a wider smaller ditching bucket to be able to reach these dugouts easier and get them completely cleaned. Has anyone used them? Do they really throw off the machine or since this machine is so large with a smaller ditching bucket maybe it'd be about the same? (weight is around 85K). Ideally I'd like a true long reach excavator but it's not in the budget right at the moment so I'm just trying to see how to go about getting a few more jobs done for now with what I've got and not having to spend a fortune.
