Mounting speakers in JCB 8040

jeudi 1 septembre 2016

We bought a brand new 2015 JCB 8040 last July, love the machine but a couple months after we bought it I realized its not radio-ready. :Banghead I assumed it was like our Cat 236D that came radio ready(had speakers and wiring installed) since it had the slot for a single-din head unit and spots in the head liner for the speakers. Once i started digging i realized there is no wiring and no brackets for speakers. The wiring is no big deal, but obviously a bit hard to hook up speakers if there is no where to attach them. I put a Jensen radio in our Cat 236B a couple years ago, and used adhesive velcro the mount the speakers on the shelf behind the seat, even with all the bouncing and banging around the speakers have never moved. But theres no room in the mini for that. I would love to be able to use the existing spots in the headliner so i don't have to hack it up, we're talking about upgrading to the new generation JCB's in the future, wanting to keep everything clean looking in the cab. I know the simplest way would be to weld some brackets onto the roof, but i'd rather not strip the interior out for that. Anybody have some idea's on how i can easily mount some speakers up on the roof? Or maybe even some really really strong suction cup or adhesive to mount to the back window? Or would i be safe to mount the speakers directly to the headliner? Obviously speakers are fairly light, and the headliner is supported on both corners by the HVAC stacks pretty well.
