Cat 416 B Trans converter problems

I had posted earlier about my transmisson not going into gear I since pulled the trans out and found that the converter tabs are 1/2 missing and I hope that this is my problem that it is not driving the pump

I will rebuild it while it is out but was wondering if anyone knows what cause the damage to the converter tabs any and all would be great thanks in advance BROKEN HOE in New Hampshire Thanks John
