Looking for some experienced opinions on JD vs Cat machines in the 30,000# range.
Am looking for a machine to do clearings in our woods, stumping, etc. Will also use it for general projects around the property;
land work, ponds, etc. Whatever machine we get will likely never see asphalt. Work will be forest & property work.
Have pretty much narrowed it down to JD & Cat in the 12-14 ton range. Due in no small part to helpful input from folks on this forum.
Had originally also considered machines in the 8-9 ton range (JD 75/85, Cat 308) but have pretty much decided that they would likely be a bit light for what we needed to do.
I have no experience with excavators. So am looking for information on durability, maintenance, what folks like & dislike about the
JD 130/135 models and Cat 312/314. Also, some perspective on the reduced radius/zero radius vs standard would be great. Mobility and
maneuverability will be important, but the price differences between the standard and reduced radius machines gets a bit salty.
Thanks in advance.
